I'm posting three videos, mainly so I can refer back to this thread when i contact tech support. But just received a brand new x99 classified this past week, finally was able to boot it up for the first time, and got a series of error codes, after systematically removing devices from the system until I isolated it to be an issue with the memory (not the ram itself) I finally verified there is an issue with ram slots 7-5 8-6 or a portion of the CPU's memory controller (highly doubt)? I can post up until "no video card detected" (expected) if I only have two sticks of ram in slots 1-3, or four sticks in a 1-2-3-4 configuration. and ended up isolating it to an issue with 5-6-7-8 ram slots. My first method to trouble shoot was of course to swap the sticks from 1-3 that I knew posted previous with the other sticks and boot with a 1-3 configuration with the sticks of ram that were originally 7-5, posted fine again. so verified ram functionality. my second step was to re-seat the CPU and check the pins, I took multiple photos of the pins and visually inspected the socket to the best of my visual ability and couldn't see any bent pins, honestly if one was missing I would never know though they're so small and I don't know how many and where I should expect the pins to be. That being said. I re-seated the CPU, same results as previous with the different configurations with ram. This imgur album has four photos of the pins I took to when I was trying to inspect them. http://imgur.com/XKJjxQY,d6a57Si,SOeHjwl,eYGK0ce I have three short videos as well. Video 1: Recommended 1-3, 5-7 configuration, notice the cycling of error codes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4v8uN0Ka0UgVideo 2: 1-3, 6-8 configuration, notice it actually power cycles itself now, I don't actually press the power button more than once. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A17Ms0DcGYQVideo 3: 1-2-3-4 configuration, post normally up until error D6 "no console output devices are found" which is completely expected as I had removed the video card for testing purposes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=quWWsSadIt0 tl;dr version: It seems that if I stick any ram in the 5-6-7-8 ram slots the system will not post. does not seem to effect. 1-2-3-4. Would like to verify it is the motherboard that is "DOA" and not the CPU (in terms of memory controller) as both are new. Again this is mainly to reference for the techs, however i greatly welcome anyone else's comments. I feel the likelihood that it's cpu related extremely low, however if someone can make a determination that it's cpu over motherboard I welcome that too, just in the search of some more definitive findings. Update: I will swap out CPU's once Microcenter opens at 10am if EVGA really feels this could be CPU moreso than motherboard. Update2: That being said, while utilizng ram slots 1-2-3-4 and reconnecting my video card, I was able to post just fine right into the bio configuration screen and navigate about within it, I just find it extremely wierd if it's the CPU that happends to only fail with one side of the ram slots 5-6-7-8.

I will be going to Microcenter at 10am PST to swap out the CPU as recommended in the initial corresponding support ticket I submitted. However any additional input is welcome.

Hello phlukz We spoke over the phone a few moments ago on this issue. Unfortunately this would point to a hardware problem with the board or CPU. Please contact us back if the step you mentioned does not work in order to support you with a RMA request if needed. Regards EVGA

Thank you Gabriel, For curiosity, I kept the ram in the 1-2-3-4 configuration and decided to plug the video card back in, and it posted normally and i was able to access the bios configuration screen and navigate it just fine, however still cant load the computer using any of the 5-6-7-8 slots for memory, which is wierd to think it could be the memory controller since it only effects just one "side" of dimm slots. but who knows. HarryD Could the memory not be compatible with the Classified MB?
memory is compatible ,i can play around in the bios screen once i hooked up the video card, and kept the ram in the 1-4 ram slots. but for the record the ram is corsair vengeance DDR4 2666 4x4

Page 13 151-HE-E999_Part1_v2.pdf The Intel X99 chipset supports quad channel memory; supports a maximum of 128GB of DDR4 and up to 3000MHz+ (OC) in quad channel configuration. It is required to populate an odd slot (1, 3, 5, 7) first. The board will not boot if only even slots (2, 4, 6, 8) are populated.

Update: Well went to microcenter (tustin) at at 11am, exchanged the CPU for a new one (which I hate playing the silicon lottery for a second time without knowing what the first one was capable of), anyway I installed the new CPU and I get the exact same post codes with the previously tested ram configurations, So of course I'm pretty sure it's motherboard at this point.

What about using Slots 1 3 5 7 for your 4 Memory Sticks It is required to populate an odd slot (1, 3, 5, 7) first. The board will not boot if only even slots (2, 4, 6, 8) are populated.

But I clearly state in the original post that I did that and have posted a video in that given configuration showing the POST cycle error. I recognize that it is the recommended configuration and did so in the first instance, and it is stated so in the original post.

No I do not. I see 1 & 3 and then 7 & 5 but not all 4 (1, 3, 5, 7) Have you checked Each Memory Stick One at a time in Slot One to test your Memory? In your Looping Video you do not have a Graphics Card installed. And you need a Video Card installed to post, not having one installed is only going to cause more issues. I think without a Graphics Card installed your testing is invalid.

FOR THE RECORD... Again 1-3-5-7 was populated from the start as displayed in the first video (AS PER EVGA DOCUMENTATION CLEARLY STATED AND WAS FOLLOWED AS FAR AS WHAT SLOTS TO POPULATE FIRST) additonal configurations were to provide additional test data. and yes it is perfectly viable to obverse post without a video card. and a video card was later used to access bios. Anyway EVGA has made the determination to RMA the board and is sending a new replacement. thank you for your help today evga techs.

Yes, the issue was resolved, ironically I received a board that was produced earlier (end of 14) as my original board was produced in early 15' via the serial numbers. But yes, all so far is fine. though I haven't plugged everything into everything yet as I don't have as many devices to do such. :p but everything so far is good with the replacement board they sent.

About one year past since I purchased x99 classified motherboard from newegg. Ever since it was install by professional asian people.I had no problem with it until now i started experiencing very strange behavior from my motherboard. When I restart my computer or when i shut down my computer the x99 classified motherboard would not boot. The codes i get from motherboard is FF or C. when it happens the only way to boot my motherboard is to go back and turn off power supply switch and wait for 15 seconds. Then it will boot back with out any issues. But in some cases even when i turn off power supply switch motherboard would not sometimes even post or boot. After all this issues i decide to go to IT shop where certified chines tech took my computer to diagnose the problem. After 3 days they called me from the shop and told me they check every component in my computer and concluded x99 motherboard is malfunction. The computer may start to boot but then shuts or would not post at all. I already send my motherboard to EVGA for replacement and I should get new motherboard shortly. What I would like to point out is that it seems like a lot of people have the same booting issue across Evga community with this motherboard.I encourage Evga company to take a look at this issue more deeply. I hope this review can be helpful, thank you.

I think this to is Racist; "The Asian people installed" "Ever since it was install by professional asian people." To me this is Racist. This would have been a none Racist statement; "Ever since it was install by a Professional Technician"
