X99 Classified - PCIe Slot 6

Hey guys,
I recently got a SoundBlaster Z, on sale, and it works great, on any slot but Slot 6!
I've gone in bios and changed from Auto to PCIe 2.0 (to improve compatibility - in theory), but still card not seen.
SoundBlaster red LED lights up, but not seen in windows.
Here's my slot assignment:
Slot 1) EVGA GTX980sc (showing 16X in BIOS)
Slot 2) empty
Slot 3) empty
Slot 4) EVGA GTX980sc (showing 16x in BIOS) / SLI
Slot 5) empty (covered by above card)
Slot 6) SoundBlaster Z (subject of this thread)
 
I could put in 2) or 3) but that would negate possible 3-way SLI (return of decreasing dividends, so probably won't), and just looks goofy IMHO

    This is a chipset issue with multiple threads already about this topic.

    ASUS figured it out and fixed it, but most everyone else is still trying to find the magical issue that is not allowing the card to work in slot 6. This is a very well known issue.

    Thanks, I searched "slot 6" but came up "no results found". My son's FTW has same issue but, I had assumed that was a lanes issue, on the 5820K
    Is this a likely a BIOS fix, or something more serious, as far as you know?

    These issues should be ironed out via future BIOS fixes if the recent update doesn't fix the issue.  It shouldn't be hardware if everyone's having the same issue.

    Asus fixed it with a bios update, so everyone should be able to get it sorted in the near future. They just have to figure out what the key part is that has to be updated.

    I hope you're right. As it stands, I have to put in lane 3, which causes lane 4 to down grade to 8X ("Lane 4 = 16X unless lane 3 is occupied, when lane 4 defaults to 8X").  Lane 2 SHOULD be an option but my bling EVGA SLI bridge, has a centre 3 way connector, which conflicts with the SB Card. And of course, lane 5 (4x) is covered by # 2 GTX 980sc.

    *Update*              With BIOS 1.12, and changing speed of PCIe 6 to "Gen 1", Soundblaster Z now works.  Going to test old X-Fi on son's X99 FTW, to see if I can replicate this finding.

    Good news:  SoundBlaster X-Fi Fatality,  on X99 FTW, also works in slot 6, with BIOS 1:12, and "Gen 1" speed setting.
    Hopefully, a future BIOS per EVGA_JacobF, will eliminate the need for BIOS "Gen 1" overrides, and "Auto", will mean just that!
