was wondering if it would be worth it to upgrade from socket 2011 to 2011-v-3 was thinking 5930k from a 3930k would it even be worth it also have a sabertooth x79 motherboard and 32gig gskill quad channel is ddr4 even worth the trouble right now?

For my needs/uses, I'm happy with my current X79 setup. I don't see the X99 platform doing anything I do any better than what I have. Gaming, Email, Internet, video's, etc... If I had money to burn, sure, why not upgrade. If you do things that you can make good use out of more cores on your CPU and need faster ram, than it might be worthwhile for you.

Stick with what you have especially if the CPU is overclocked

I actually waited to see the details on X99 before making my choice on whether to stay X79 or go X99 a year ago. When the specs came out for CPUs and the mobos I decided X79 was a better choice in terms of cost VS performance. Most of my build was used/refurbished high end parts and it turned out to be great. IMHO X99 simply was not a significant improvement over X79 to justify the massive expense. You can build a top tier X79 mobo/cpu/ram for the price of an entry level X99. I bought my 3930k used for about $320 and the ASUS RIVE-BE open box for about $300, and 32gb of New ddr3 Corsair Dominator 2400mhz for about $380. Those prices were from a year ago, so still it would be about a $300-500 difference to get into X99
