Hello guys, I've had 3x2 of Dominator ram since the launch of the EVGA x58 mobo, recently I started updating my build, removed the old 480gtx and installed 2 970s.
6gb of ram doesn't cut it anymore, I purchased PNY 8x2 1866 ram, when installed my PC doesn't go into the boot sequence, screens completely black.
Is the ram not supported?

Appreciative on any feedback or help I could receive

It's possible that because your new ram are 8GB sticks, it won't work on X58.  You would be better off I think using a triple channel memory kit (3 sticks).  Either a 3x4GB kit (best option), or a 6x2GB kit.

You would also most likely need to up your VTT voltage some to run any ram at 1866MHz on your X58.  May require a small bump in Vcore also to a once stable CPU OC.

Boot with 1 stick second slot from left. If it boots, sht down and add second stick in third or fourth slot. Its been a while cant remember exactly. 2 sticks are not optimal for x58 but they will work.

Do you have both types of memory installed? Or just the the new sticks? As alluded to above, running with two sticks will put you in dual channel. Your manual addresses which memory slots to use when using different memory configurations and is available online in the support section.

Sorry I haven't replied sooner, I have the first EVGA x58 mobo, I went out for a trip with a friend to a computer store, the only ram they had is Ballistic 9-9-9-24 4x4 1600 ram. Installed all 4 sticks in the first 4 slots, and no boot. Installed 3 sticks the sameway my triple channel 3x2 8-8-8 dominator ram is setup, the computer booted and read the 3x4 ram. Only problem I had was that I wasn't able to load my 4ghz overclock I had on my 920 i7.

Any1 have any idea how I could get this new ram to work with my old overclock? And any idea how I could get the other 4gb ram stick to work with the other 3x4 sticks?

I'm also not using the old ram with the new ram

Did you set the RAM voltage in BIOS manually ? (use the RAM mfg advertised Voltage)

Are you using XMP or is RAM in "Auto"

I haven't done anything other then reset cmos and install the ram. I figured it would be plug-and-play, that's not the case I guess.
I will highly appreciate all the help I can get.

    **update**
I resett all ram setting and set them to auto, everything works perfectly with the cpu overclock. I have 3 of the sticks in the same spot I had my triple channel in. I just have one stick I need to find the right slot to install. But I'm glad with having 12gb of ram compared To the 6gb I had b4.

Glad to hear you got it up and running...

I'm not sure if all of EVGA's X58 boards are configured the same (I believe they are) for the Dimm slots, but here is how I would need to setup my X58 E770 Classy3.

If 1 stick  >> Use slot #1.  Single channel.
    If 2 sticks  >>  Use slots 1 & 3.  Dual channel.
    If 3 sticks  >> Use slots 1,3, & 5.  Triple channel.
If 4 sticks  >>  Use slots 1,2,3,4.  Dual channel.
If 6 sticks  >>  You guessed it, all slots...  Also triple channel.
