I am currently using 2 TITAN GTX in sli and am looking forward to the PCIe-3.0. Other then that I am trying to decide if this CPU upgrade is worth it for PC games? I do alot of strat games that tend to work the CPU and the video cards both. Ive been feeling CPU bottle necked lately but having a hard time judging performance differences between 980x and 6900k. I have looked at benchmarks and things looks really solid on that front but just wanted the communities input before dropping a couple grand.

Thanks!

You could also wait until Skylake-X is released next year and get the brand new 8 core processor then.

I bought the 6950X in September and it's absolutely a beast when it comes to multitasking and if you want to record/encode gameplay, this thing is barely touched haha. The 6900k will be close, although minus 2 cores (for $700 less though). These chips overclock quite high from their stock frequency (mine's 1.4GHz higher than the stock) but you'll definitely need a bigger cooler than the H100i. Get yourself a nice 360mm rad with decent fans and your temps will be superb regardless of whether you buy the 6900k now or wait for the new chipset.

The only reason I'd choose the FTW-K over the Classified is due to having more features such as more USB support, etc. I've had no issues with this board so far and it's done everything I need it to.

FTW K is their latest MB.  No one goes 3-way or 4-way SLI anymore so no need for the classified unless you want 3 BIOS to choose from.

FTWK does not offer Turbo switch, which is invaluable in troubleshooting unstable system. Just to name one little detail why Classy over FTWK.
And if you're into liquid cooling then there is a Bitspower waterblock kit. So that's #2 reason.

M.2 slot working in Gen.2 mode is inconsequential. Unless you doing sustained transfers all the time or recording multitude of HD video material nobody will ever notice that transfer is capped at ~1600MB/s. Certainly not a gamer. I mentioned this couple times already and I'll repeat that once more. I was working with i750 400 GB on X58 and it was more than fine. Recording video was less streamlined than Gen.3 (from lack of better expression), but everything else, including VM, was perfect.

Returning to original question. Is it worth it?

For CPU bound tasks and games - hell yeah it's worth it. I'm one of X58 converts and there is vast chasm performance-wise. For gaming I'm not as mad to get 2 Titans as one 970 runs fine everything I have with plenty of room to spare. Of course for 2nd Classy build I will consider 1080Ti, but only that.
