So under heavy load my gpu can go up to 87c MAX! (more around 80-85c)
Is this safe?

Those temps are safe, but it would be a good idea to turn the fans up a little more, and let them cool the card off.  Open an instance of GPU-z (Download from techpowerup.com if you don't have it) and put it on the sensors tabs.  Play your game for a while, and look at your temperatures and your fan speed.  Higher fan speed should lower your temperatures.

The card definitely should not be that hot at 100%

Do you have any spare thermal paste lying around?  I can try to lower your temps in 45 minutes..   Before you ask, it will not void your warranty.  EVGA allows you to change your TIM to help save on RMAs.. It's a pretty awesome deal.

Well no.. i just spent over 6000 DK on this card, i'd expect it to have some decent quality paste on. And the case is small, the card is throwing a lot of heat out.

This isn't a common issue. Thousands of cards sold, and a few issues can be expected.

If you can get some thermal paste, you should. Something good, like Artic mx-4, Felix extreme, grizzly kryonaut, or shinetsu

I don't think it's the card, it's a case / air flow problem. How much room is between the gpu fans and the box below it? You'll need to get some air to it or water cool it.Curious question.... Which case is it?

    Anything he suggested is good...

FYI, evga uses shinetsu, which is a great paste.

Id blame your temps on poor airflow.

Blower style cooler would probably work better in that case.

It's the NZXT Manta, cable management is on point. And there are 2 front intake and 3 outtake fans.

Yes, but aren't you the guy that modded his video card or something to get a higher power limit? Also, you already have a pretty beefy overclock on your card, close to 2.1ghz if I remember...

I guess, maybe you are having high temps due to your own mods?

I am, however as you can see in the screenshot the power limit almost never goes above 105% anyways, and my card hovers around 2033-2050mhz during games.

That plate that is directly under the GPU is horrible for an ACX style cooler. You're basically just recirculating hot air from the GPU. Also, what are your ambient (room) temps?  And lastly, is your CPU cooler exhausting air out or is the CPU heat also being dumped into the case.

Well i know, i had a Gigabyte G1 gaming 980 ti before it smoked, it was able to stay under 81c. I guess EVGA's cooler can't handle it.

Sorry for the stealth edits.  In any event with the fans @100%, you shouldn't see temps that high even with sub par air flow. Could be a dodgy TIM application as was mentioned earlier.

Shin Etsu, the stock TIM is very good. IC Gelid, MX -4 is fine. Pretty much any of the better known recent TIM are all fairly equal. Just use about the size of a small pea. A bit too much is better than a bit too little.

I don't think it's the card, it's a case / air flow problem. How much room is between the gpu fans and the box below it? You'll need to get some air to it or water cool it.Curious question.... Which case is it?

It's the NZXT Manta, cable management is on point. And there are 2 front intake and 3 outtake fans.

Cable management means jack all for temperatures, as made obvious by the testing with all the random crud they threw in that case.

On the other hand, with ACX cards all that hot air is being dumped in to the case - you need to have high positive pressure or high negative pressure to negate that. Or, get a blower style card as it will exhaust hot air, or put the card under an AIO water cooler like the H55 and a Kraken G10 bracket.

You likely won't see much of a temperature drop, if any, replacing your stock TIM - unless you go very high end (and expensive, like Grizzly Kryonaut which is very good). Even with the very best, we're talking a couple of degrees C.

You likely have an airflow issue - a lack of airflow for the GPU due to that plate right next to it. Take the side of your case off - how much do temps drop by doing that? If it drops a lot and fan speeds aren't near 100% then you have your answer.

If temperatures do not drop by removing the side of your case, there is a good chance that your heat sink fan is not making good contact with the GPU die. Either it is warped or not screwed on tightly.

What? They don't pay you enough for your mod duties?

Received a ton of kryonaut, and love it as well.

Build looks fantastic but I'd never put anything aside from a blower in there, air wise.

The suggestion to run with the side off should be the first test.

Falling of frequency and tension on the same temperatures? we will allow 60С-2100 of MHz, 64С-2088 of MHz, 69С-2050 of MHz...... will be also in the second Bios???

Your card is being suffocated. Pretty case, but a very poor decision for a non-blower style fan. Get yourself the Kraken G10 and an H55 and water cool it. Or return it for a blower card.

Edit: Or get a new case.
