Barbarossa

signed up, and will put one of my 970s here, once I come back...
choose a fitting name as well: Urlauber

Very funny
First thing I saw was "once I come back".
So, I thought - another vacation?!?!
Then I remembered some of my basic German.

Glad you could join us!

I should have my 3930k here by Monday, which  means that my 2600k can be devoted to WCG.  When the SR-3's come out next year, hopefully someone with experience can help me set that up (since I have no experience with 2p machines, or the OS's they run on).

I just set a SR-2 up not 5 minutes ago.  It is no different than setting up a single core computer.

Awesome!  What about OS requirements?  Would Win 7 Pro/Ultimate work?  I was pretty sure that the regular premium did not.

Yes.  Home premium will not work.  You need windows 7 pro / Ultimate / server edition for it to work.  Home premium will only detect one CPU.

I cannot wait to see how many units this cranks out in a week... I think maybe an SR-2 might be a better deal now than the SR-3 I was originally going to start planning...

Looks like the team is off to a good start. I may have to move some cpu cores over to help out.

Or Linux - if you are setting the system up for crunching only, might as well use something free.

Off topic, but has anyone messed with OC settings after coming to this?  Thinking I might be able to be stable here at a higher OC than with FAH....  No BSOD's or anything in 48 hours and I would get them about every 4-6 hours randomly with FAH....  No change in temps, but that might get me looking around more at going to liquid cooling....

this client seems to play very nice with everything.  I've had my c2d both cores maxed out for the majority of the day while doing my daily routine(remote desktop support, music, F@H on GPU, web browsing, etc...)  Not a single hiccup or anything.

Now this is just my Experience YMMV... And I will be here three years next month (With WCG)...

These BOINC's are not as picky... Overclock to what you would say for gaming... and away you go... That is exactly what I do

I run on AVG 6c cooler on the CPU's than any F@H I could run on them...

I came over at downclocked to 4.2ish, just bumped multi up one tonight and doing fine still 4.38ish.

Screen wasn't responding but temps showed cpu was crunching away when I got home. Had to hard power off. Bumped the multi explained above and turned off speedstep. C1e was already disabled. Do I need virtual on?

Man.. I know the answer to this question and have been looking through my notes trying to remember... But I have not... I will go search WCG forums and see if it has come up or not...

*Edit...

Sorry no luck... Everything that kept popping up was for Virtual servers...

Thanks....  I'll keep bumping the blck one or two and let it run for a few hours and increase again until it gives me a sign to stop....  Up to 3.84 so far....  Don't know how high my 920 can handle when not folding, that is all it does other than getting online for school and running visual studio/netbeans....  I only have to stop my gpu when using visual studio....

3.9 from 3.8 with less voltage and no temp changes so far....

I will say this though!!! Keep an eye on your results page @ WCG... If you start to see any failures it can be because of an overclock. I came across this thread on the WCG Forums last night...

So are you guys have a fun time here or what?.. Smiles all around in the treads..Sure beats the hate banging around from thread to thread about folding right now.
I'm on the fence about joining up. I did SETI back in the real old days..was a lot of fun.
Ya think we could make a dent in the world rankings just like FAH?

Guess I just need a little push.

Personally, I am having a blast, probably due to a number of things, but for sure it's because of the group of guys/gals doing it with me.  You are right though, lots of positivity here.  I love it.  Also, I need to find a SETI team.  I would love to crunch for SETI@EVGA but don't know how that would go.
Looking forward to seeing you!

This area of the forum is for all types of DC programs.. Make a thread, ask and get it going! That is all we have done for F@H and the newest addition WCG

(placing an arm around your shoulder)...please join us my brother...we are having a good time doing both this and FAH.  I actually think this additional EVGA Team will result in more crunching gear and Team Members all around for our EVGA Teams!

OK, ok.. good sell job guys!
I'll start one-uniting a couple of my fah I7's and get all set up tomorrow.
@ johnny utah.. I still have the SETI account. Have to see if I can still tap into it. last I knew they had funding probs but got through them. I stopped crunching for them when I discovered they were only re-crunching old wu's over and over just to keep us occupied..
Perhaps we can do something there as a sub "team"..

@ johnny_utah (or anybody doing [link=mailto:SETI@home]SETI@home[/link]) Well I checked my old SETI account, I have over 64,000 credits in it!...
I gather that SETI is not attached to the WCG? Is there enough interest in our new "clan" to start a SETI group?

Glad to hear there are other SETI lovers out there:)  I believe that we are working right now on attaching all DC projects to our accounts?  I think we would have to create a name for SETI then attach it to the name (we are voting on right now) of our team.
