I looked around, but couldn't find any information about if the EVGA Z68 FTW will fit in a mid size case.  I would just buy a full size, but my desk tower holder is too small.  Motherboard specs are 10.38" x 12"

It will fit in a "mid size" case if it is able to support a EATX motherboard, which is what the dimensions of the Z68 FTW are.

Standard ATX: 12 × 9.6 inches
Extended ATX: 12 x 10.375 inches

Setup:

Asus Z97I-PLUS
16GB Corsair Dominator Platinum 2400 MHz
EVGA GTX 970 SC ACX 2.0 w/ NZXT Kraken G10 + Corsair H55

Honestly not for sure... It's an E-ATX board, so I doubt it. IF it does, then some of your cable management holes will be blocked. Also the right side of the board will be right up against your HDD's.

I just got a E-ATX board myself, and it barely fits in my full tower (Antec 1200), so that's why I don't think it'd fit in a Mid.

If you can tell me the exact case, then I can give you a real answer.

+1, you'd literally have to mod the mid tower case you get to fit the Z68 in it.

Just looking around the Mid Tower cases take microATX and ATX boards, but not E-ATX.

FTW boards fit in a Corsair 650d case, which is mid-tower.  It just blocks some cable management holes

EATX is about 3/4inch longer. so as long as the case supports ATX you will be fine providding there enough room betwwen the right angle PSU connection and the bays to install the 24pin. I run the z68 in the mid tower (which is like a full tower) and does not support EATX...lol :) Noi issues and fits perfect.

Similar to the analogy of plus-sized clothing having smaller numbered sizes to not affect the psychology of the customer, is that why some of you refer to your towers as mid sized?  The modern mid tower is not mid-sized at all, they're all huge (greater than 18 inches high in most cases).

For Intel processors, 0.122 x TDP = Continuous Amps at 12v [source].
