Last year I purchased a GTX 980 ti and it's been great. Now want to add a second card and having a little trouble figuring out which one to get.
Purchased the 06G-P4-4993-KR with the intention of adding a second and liquid cooling in the near future. Am planning to use EK waterblock for future liquid cooling, and I want both cards to be able to use same block for aesthetics. EK lists the 4993 as being Nvidia reference design and using Titan X block. Which recent production (available new) 980 ti cards also use this?
I would prefer to stick with EVGA, but will go to another brand if it's necessary to find what I want.
I am aware of the advantages and disadvantages of SLI and next generation of GTX. I do not want to move up to a 10 series card, just want to SLI the 980ti. One 980it is more than capable of doing most everything I need for now, two will have me covered for a long time to come.

I would, but 4993 is currently out of stock in the EVGA Store and the few places I've seen it out in the wild they still want the $600+ prices for it. Cool GTX During the sale for 17 Anv Sale, it does not get better than this if you like one of these:
EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti FTW GAMING ACX 2.0+P/N: 06G-P4-4996-KR Sale $399.99 and in stock - woot
Once I get other stuff squared away at the house I want to buy a different case and liquid cool. Unfortunately I an an old fashion guy and gotta keep a built in ODD, so EVGA's case isn't an option. When I do the liquid cool I want to use matching EK waterblocks for the GPUs. I want to use full cover blocks, not Universal VGA blocks. Looked up the 4996 on EK's site, and they do not list a compatible full cover block for it, so it's not an option for me. I did notice something that I'd previously missed on their site, they also have compatibility list by the block. My current 4993 uses the Titan X full cover block, so I looked it up and checked the compatibility list. The following cards are also listed for that block; 1996, 4990,4991,4992, and 4995. 1996 is the hybrid and my current case doesn't have a spot for the rad fan. The 4992 is Out of Stock and listed at full price. The 4992, 4993, and 4995 are not listed or listed as out of stock. That leaves the 4990 at $390 and the 4991 at $380. They have the same specs, the only notable difference is the cooling system. The 4991 has the same dual fan ACX 2.0+ cooling as my current card. Infact the 4991 and 4993 appear to be the same card, except that the latter is slightly overclocked from the factory. I'm betting that the 4991 could be slightly overclocked to match the 4993, even if not the hit to the 4993 isn't that much. Once liquid cooling happens, both will be able to overclock well past stock if needed. Looks like the 4993 and 4991 are currently the same price. As it stands now I'm going to wait until Friday (payday) before buying anything. Should the 4993 pop back into stock I'll get one, if not I'll get the 4991.

Why you don't like DG-87 case, what is better now for 220-230$? If you are old fashion guy than special DG-8x models fit better than other full tower cases. They are not some new cyber looking kitsch... At the moment only 5-6 models for similar price look OK, among them is even old Obsidian 800D. Obsidian 750D Airflow Edition is nice case and cost same, but DG-8 is really better for me, and from 750D and special from 760T and from 780T. 900D cost 150$ more, have great cooling option, but DG-87 is more attractive.

Well I wasn't wanting to discuss cases in this thread, I was just stating that I was going to be upgrading and liquid cooling in the (hopefully) near future. I figured that by posting something about a case I was inviting people to start commenting on that, and this being an EVGA forum someone would suggest the DG-8x series. By old fashioned I mean that I prefer a big boxy tower, and there are certain features that I require that have kinda dropped out of fashion. I do not particularly like the style and shape of the DG-8x, and I've gotta have external 5.25" drive bays which it does not have. Each person is different and entitled to their own opinions, mine is that the DG-8x is not the case for me. As for what I like better in the price range. I'm currently planning on a Phanteks Enthoo case. Haven't decided between the Pro, Luxe, and Primo, but I'm currently leaning towards the Luxe.

If you decide to SLI some 980ti cards may not SLI with other 980ti cards. Try to match the same part number with what you have now for maximum efficiency.

You Know what?.......You've got me Thinking about This really Hard. Do I really want to continue running my 4-way SLI System(s) and be capable of Both Benchmarking AND Gaming (Instead of limited to Benchmarking Only using 3/4-way SLI with the Pascal Series)? It will be $890 Tax/Shipping for two Brand New EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti CLASSIFIED GAMING ACX 2.0+ (06G-P4-4998-KR) Cards at $429.99 each from the EVGA 17th anniversary sale (after a $50 Rebate apiece). Also I found two more New 980 Ti Classys on Ebay for $880 with Free Shipping! To me, That sounds MUCH Better than laying out $5136 Tax/Shipping at the Release next Tuesday for Four New Nvidia Titan X Pascal Cards (Which will more than likely be limited to Only One per Customer ), PLUS I can still use my EVBot and water blocks on the Classys, Not to mention the Things I could do with the spare $3366 I WON'T have to spend! Decisions, Decisions, Decisions..........

Thanks, hallowen. My very first Classified board and at a price less than what I would have paid for the two RX 480 8GB boards I was going to run in Crossfire for this build. I still haven't decided on a case. It has to be a full tower and has to have a side windows. I have several in mind. I am leaning towards this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811133283I see a lot of complaints about that PCI-E extension cable and a member here needed to go through 3 of them before he was successful. I wish I could mount that video board normally without that tray but I may have to build my own bracket to do that. Got myself a new DataVac last month so dust will not be an issue.
