Finally made an account with EVGA. I bought a gtx 1080 ftw thinking EVGA had improved since my last purchased of a gtx 670 ftw (terrible cooling), guess I was wrong again. Anyways I'm not familiar with EVGA's loyalty grab here having to register and what not but after spending $700+ I'm quiet pissed off right now. So how am I suppose to get the thermal pads?? I would prefer not having to open up my GTX 1080 but looks like I don't have a choice since shipping take forever plus you aren't going to install the thermal pads for me. I'm also quite happy with my silicon lottery here too. I know the the bios update is one fix but that's the most ridiculously, the most pathetic fix ever and wouldn't that increase if fan curve conflict with EVGA"S statement as being a quite card under full load? False Advertisement?? I don't know. Anyways I prefer quite noise over high temperature since i could tolerate heat but ofcourse not my card especially the vrm... Plus I already have my own custom fan curve with MSI Afterburner. If possible, can I just get a full REFUND for this card, because this really is my last time ever buying something from EVGA. So yeah, Thanks for your help. I'm just here to get my Thermal Pads and possible any other accommodation with regards towards the VRM issue and any other issue with EVGA's gtx 1080 ftw card.

http://www.evga.com/thermalmod/ Pretty sure the increase will only be in the vicinity of 400rpm, certainly nothing you will notice. It will still be a quiet card under load. What's it matter anyways, you said yourself that you're using a customer fan curve so the bios changes are irrelevant to you. On one hand you're saying a fan speed increase is pathetic and ridiculous, yet on the other hand you're using a custom profile. Bit contradictive?

It's not contradicting though. I just stated that it's not the solid fix we expected and the card will not be advertise with it's fan curve when we first bought it. The bios update is irrelevant to me which is the whole point! If the changed the VRM usage or something to lower it's temperature that would be a good fix for me though I'm not sure if that is entirely possible. So I'm left with the Thermal Pads which is an annoying fix with having to register, request, wait, and then take apart my Card. Thanks for the site though and how are we suppose to registered the card?

The BIOS hack alone will increase fan noise by two fold.....its already been tested. :(

Thanks for the help guys. Will continue to check the forum till EVGA has a better solution beside the thermal pads but I'm not in any hopes for anything. This just sucks and a waste of everyone's time and money.

I will be doing both gaming, bench marking, and also creating contents such as mods, etc.

I have had my card since August and pushing around 4k, never had an issue since. I'm sure you will be fine for gaming and mods. Hardcore benching is where I think you would see some of those heat issues.

Same here. I have had my 1080FTW for just over 6 weeks, and have been pushing it pretty hard. No problems at all. I will say, however, that the first thing I did after installing the card -- before running any games or tests -- was to setup a custom fan curve (25% to 32C, then straight line to 70%@65c, then straight line to 100%@75c). So it has always had the fans running except when truly idle. I also have a big case with a lot of air flow. YMMV. I have since switched to the "slave" bios, which makes the "minimum fan speed" about 1050rpm (roughly 30%). That minimum cannot be overridden in software (i.e., if you set something lower than 30% in Precision or Afterburner, it still runs at 30%). The rest of my custom fan curve still works as before. I also do not have a dire requirement (or really, any requirement at all) to run Furmark for two hours with very low fan speed. But I have run "MSI Kombuster" and "EVGA OC Scanner" (with my custom fan curve) for several hours each. No crashes, no artifacts. No problems in Witcher3 or SkyrimSE either, running at 2560x1600. Really not sure whether I will bother with updating the bios or installing the thermal pads. I have pushed the card enough to have confidence that there are no issues, at least with my case and custom fan curve. There is a 3 year warranty, so until or unless I actually have a problem -- I am going to ignore the drama, sack up, and live on the edge. :-)

I think I'm gonna do the same even if I only used my card during 1 month... I'm no overclocker and I use agressive curve fan so....

http://www.evga.com/thermalmod/If you are uncomfortable installing the mod yourself, EVGA will do it for you. Says it somewhere on that page there in that link.

Will thanks for trying, I didn't take the call because I didn't recognized the number. From the sound of the forums, seems like customer service isn't to great at the moment anyways due to scare of the VRM issue and I don't really need to call unless something terrible happens to my GPU. I cannot PM because I'm still new to this site and have to complete these tedious task for some dumb reason... I will not send in my gpu in because it will take awhile, I rather now install it myself just to be safe and so I could double check on all the components. Anyways I'm aware now on how to request the thermal pads, and installation. Hopefully no other issue surface with your product. I will be checking the forum here and there to make sure if any other fixes or solutions are posted. Thanks again for the assist everyone.

EVGA has the absolute best customer service in the business. Hands down. No one else will reply to comments from dissatisfied customers. No one else will call you personally to make sure you're satisfied and being helped. Not to mention, EVGA is probably the only company who will admit fault when something goes wrong, and do everything in their power to fix it.

A refund will need to be taken up with the retailer that you purchased from.
I would encourage you to call EVGA and speak with them directly in regards to any questions you have about getting the thermal pads and/or cross shipping/RMA.
In my opinion, people who are capable of installing their $600+ card yet are too afraid of opening their card up (under the direction of EVGA....completely protected by EVGA warranty mind you) should consider taking up a new hobby, or at least a different approach. Perhaps you should consider getting a console, XBONE or PS4?
Cute forum name by the way.

They have shipped a bunch, but now they are awaiting a shipment to send out to everyone. The pads must be cut and the prepped for packaging, so it takes a little time.

Whwre are you located? EVGA has been paying for the shipments, so your local delivery service may have pulled wool over your eyes. I havent heard of any place accepting cash on delivery for a while, unless they were charging you taxes or some random import fee since many countries love to do that.

I live in Texas. Found a notice from USPS in the mail today that stated the delivery has been held due to unpaid postage by sender. It's not COD or Customs, it's for postage specifically.

That is strange. I thought that usps sends the package back if postage is unpaid.

no pads for the vram and i agree with the people that are having issues with this. there was virtually no contact between my vram pads and the memory. fortunately, i was also installing my hybrid kit so it's no longer an issue for me but i would certainly check if i was taking the time to install the thermal mod.
