Just purchased my second EVGA product, the 650w supernova power supply.   Id like to use the software to create a custom fan curve because at the moment this is too loud for my liking.  When i go to the download page there is nothing there, so whats the deal EVGA?

Their is no supernova power supply software for other than the older 1500 Classified Model and to get the software you need to logon the EVGA's Web Site and go here: http://www.evga.com/software/ You have to own one to see the link.

From what I remember a while back was users told EVGA to dump the USB Port and Software.
That was a Sad Day for me. I own two 1500 Classified PSU.

The only way you are going to have a High Speed fan on your PSU is if you are using 90% or more of its power.

The fan doesnt seem to change speed unless im just not noticing it, my fan on the gpu gets a little loud with my fan curve i got it set to.  I just want my psu to be a little quieter on idle, if not possible i guess ill deal with it and upgrade down the road.

The only PSU that had software control has been end of life for some time now. As bcavnaugh mentioned, most of our newer PSU models have an Eco Mode switch which makes the unit act like the ACX 2.0 fans on the 900 series cards: the fan will only turn on when the unit hits a certain temperature threshold.

For people sensitive on fan noise I recommend next models...
    EVGA 750 G2 Gold - Eco Mode
    EVGA 850 G2 Gold - Eco Mode
    EVGA 1000 P2 Platinum - Eco Mode
    EVGA 1200 P2 Platinum - Eco Mode
    EVGA 1600 P2 Platinum - Eco Mode
    EVGA 1600 T2 Titanium - Eco Mode
And New Silent Series 850 GS - 1050 GS and 1000 PS are advertised as Silent.

For Platinum/Titanium units I'm sure customers will not hear fan at all and with Eco Mode Disabled.
Probably except on configuration where PSU work 80-100% with every load.
In such environment you will hear fan on every PSU on the world.
For Gold units I'm not sure but because these two models 750/850W are newest in G2 series I think fan is not loud.
    Most interesting models are probably 750/850 G2, 1000 P2, 850 GS, 1050 GS and 1000 PS.
Others are for stronger system and usually more than two graphic cards.

    Just want to ask:
What does the software control do actually? Does it control only the fans? Lighting? 12V, 5V or 3V output? Just wanted to know.
And when was this PSU released?

    Thanks

I use it to control the Fan Speed. 120-PG-1500-XR More Info back in 2013.
    • Monitor current and voltage
    • Adjust the +12V rail output voltage
    • Monitor fan speed and adjust fan profile
    • Monitor input voltage, current, and power
    • Monitor power supply efficiency
    • Enable or Disable EVGA OC Mode
    • Switch between Single or Multiple +12V rails
    • Monitor 2, 4, or 6 sensors at once

    Thanks!
I asked because in 2008 I had a Gigabyte ODIN GT 800W PSU with a software control app. Monitoring of power draw, voltages and current. A small adjustments on the 12V, 5V & 3V. But no single to multi rail switches.

    How much power you need?
I would recommend you, off course if you want some serious PSU to buy, new in warranty to check these models...

On all of these models you can control fan speed with Eco Switch and all of them are Single Rail and
12V rail is strong and during 100% load and no need to be adjusted. Everything else is excellent too.
Guy who overclock and test graphic cards for EVGA use I think some of first two models.

Also you have Corsair Link software for their "i" Power Supplies.
The still a lot of bad issues with CorsairLink Software.
