A few months back we had 1200 active users, that was even after some started crunching. We are now at 757.
That's pathetic, at this rate not only will we lose 1st but we may dip lower. We need to do something, I haven see many new members in a long time. We use to be welcoming them all the time. Is our team dying out?
I'm not on the forums that often anymore but come on boys we gotta get some new blood in here.

I agree the numbers are down... but there are many reasons for it and Im not going to make excuses or bash people for it People may have good reasons...that's good enough for me We need to work more as a team to recruit and get the message out those that are on have actually stepped up the game a bit... we should encourage and help out more where we can to boost teammate production We could always run a early contest and run TZC in Nov (this might also help out).. Sept is cooler so people may be more inclined to come out and fold

I really do think the heat wave def affected us as a whole too besides several other factors. I'm still producing points for the team all month. Hope the new job doesn't affect my monthly numbers... Might kick in the SMP again if its cool enough while I sit at work. But I'm fighting my way to the top 500 soon :D

I think the lack of a F@H core update for Kepler is really hurting us, point wise as well as some folks just quitting because the client didn't work. Hopefully we can get the new core and establish an easy guide for folks in a few months. Then we could work with EVGA on a mass mailer out to re-energize the team.

Its a combination of many reasons, the 600 series cards not having proper folding support, people had to cut back the heat and power bill and needed to use the air conditioner instead, some decided to run crunching@evga due to big advance limited to 16 core cpu's now, etc.

Yes, I believe it's a variety of factors, and I'm actually very encouraged by the amount of new people that have recently joined and some oldies that have just returned. Welcome to you all if I've missed saying it to anyone! I feel that we could be on the brink of a resurgence in several ways. Not to say that it will happen over night, but even with the active members we have, we are holding good ground right now. Sprinkle-in some time for new members to add production, new members yet to come, Fall weather, Kepler code optimization and even more 2/4Ps that will emerge, and we still have a recipe for some good growth as a team. Folding Teams are a constantly evolving thing from what I can tell. I think we have to maintain our perspective about the changes and always remember that this is a "donor situation" comprised of people with a lot of "life things" going on too. Some members never even post here, never discuss points, PG, etc, but are quietly doing the work of Folding on our Team every day. That humbles me and tells me that we have a lot of diversity in our team (which I like). Whatever we do, let's keep our focus on the great efforts this Team is accomplishing every day whether they are Folding, Crunching or doing both. This Team rocks no matter what ultimately happens with our World Folding position. I want to keep it too and will fight like [H] to do it!

I am folding just enough to stay productive perhaps a million points a month, until it gets cooler and I can run the other three systems. Folding is a lot more flustrating than it use to be, new drivers causing issues, High power bills, unbearable heat.

Wow I didn't realize there still wasn't support for the 600's Been busy with my son, he's 1 now and seems like all I do is chase him around. I try to get on here once in a while to see how things are going. Wish I could build another rig but that's so not in the cards right now.
Good to see the returning folders and new folders! Thanks to all!

NerdGZ Take care of your health first. We know you'll do what you can when you can. I'm folding almost 2x my average over the last couple of days and hope that makes up for some of our deficit. Can't do it for ever, as the heat is set to make another run at us, but we're trying. Thanks all folders and crunchers everywhere!

EliteGeek91 Just kidding... But seriously. I also brought this up. Everyone has been into crunching for the past few months it seems, and not folding so much... Idk why honestly.. I know some disagree with the F@H head honcho, but hey we do it for the cause!!! Well... Let me offer some other thoughts on this... We lost 500+ members in folding in the last few months... And only gained "6" in Crunching from the dates of June 15th to today. OH.. And two of them seem to have come from other teams. http://boincstats.com/en/stats/-1/team/detail/58913125/memberMovement The following is an in general comment not aimed at you... Enough!!! I have tried nicely, long windily, and down right ignored it. It is about bleeping time that the Waaaaaaaaaaaa mobiles of our team stops bashing those that ARE supporting the TEAM with EVGA and starts looking at what is "Actually" wrong... Using excuses about Crunching is just that... Excuses. We are all on the same team looking to help humanity how WE chose with OUR parts. Until someone ships me/you/us a Farm and asks you/us/me to do particular projects, we/I will continue to work what our/my heart feels good about. So... What is the real issue here as asked in the OP? Mediocre support for the 600's? Heck yes... Weather? Sure... Attitudes rubbing off? Sure. Points scrambling about? Sure... Personally I think it is many things. One is without any doubt in my mind EVGA. Yes they help with the bucks. But that is not our driver on it's own merit now is it? We are here to help them with "Their" team, yet we are consistently "Last" in the project list when we ask for something. Harsh for me to say? Maybe, but I am also a member and that is how it looks from where I sit at this moment... Need an example... http://forums.evga.com/tm.aspx?m=1613180 And, http://forums.evga.com/tm.aspx?m=1670677

Im with you AB ....Like I said quit posting excuses... I don't care why someone can't fold or has switched.. because some of the reasons might be justified. (Besides some of us switch when either team needs help) the key is working to improve things rather than stir up hornets nests. 1. offer ideas 2. offer help - ie we can PM people individually, help run contests 3. offer incentives - Badges, mugs,Tees, hoodies, prizes, etc (thx to those on the DC team that have made the goodies a success) 4. recruit like your fingers are on fire As a side note I would like to thank everyone that does give to the community in whatever way they can even helping someone setup their rigs for folding or crunching in my mind is doing what is needed to help out My big thx still go out to the senior members like drougnor,troy8d, DutchForce, Punchy ....and Im sure probably leaving out a lot that have donated time, money, effort and prizes for our team. So if you feel like I left you out in someway... give the thread a shout and chime in and remind some of us on how bad our memory is

...and we do need to stay on the positive side of things as a Team for our own good. [H] learned it the hard way and so did we earlier this year. It's a proven fact that intra-team bickering only drags down the whole team's momentum. Even though we have declined in total members, the members (new and old) that we have today are doing a magnificent job. Most other teams face the same challenges that we do with active membership, finding new ways to motivate members and actively recruiting new members. We should stay focused on helping each other, always remember why we are here doing this work, grow our ability to Fold/Crunch, and stay out of the "rat-holes" if at all possible. We are the EVGA Folding Team, not EVGA Corporate. EVGA owns the forum and rewards us with some EVGA-bucks, but the responsibility of this team's health always lays squarely in our laps. We own dealing with the challenges that this Folding team encounters. Taking care of our own team is how we remain strong in this 100% donor populated environment. Love you guys through thick and thin, and wouldn't want to Fold/Crunch anywhere else unless I had too.

The Folding gods (or so it seems that is how they think of themselves at Stanford) led me to leave folding. Did not see me spending the money on Power and hardware when it seemed they did as they pleased with the work units and points. The new SMP client is much better and seems many of the SMP WU issues have been getting ironed out. Sad no new GPU client/WU for the new Nvidia GPU's. I still have an SR2 that I need to bring online once I get a couple day free to get it build and burned in, but at the moment i am holding around 190K PPD so not great but doing my part to keep [H] from being able to just walk over us.

I've kinda dropped off the face of the earth due to economic reasons. To reduce power, I stopped folding, which helped a little. Then the overtime went away. To reduce cost, we dropped the cell phones, which helped a little. Now hours are getting trimmed. So now there's only one thing left to get rid of. We're dropping the net here eventually, and so it'll be a long time before I can fold again. Come February, look for the rising heatwave from the midwest, and you will see my return.
