I know purchase dates are on the 27th, I thought Nvidia would of have some kind of pre-order today...? or before the launch date.

I would Pre Order right now if I could.
I built an entire new PC for this GPU release.  The last thing I am waiting on is my card so I can play some games.  My old pc is getting handed down to my sister and I have to wait to get a GPU.
I can only play minecraft on my integrated graphics ;p

      Going from a 2500k to a 6700k

I plan on getting a ACX or SC 1080 not a Founders Edition.   Those blower coolers are gimped.   And they are limited on power.

Whatever you do, please do NOT order the Founders Edition (AKA ripoff edition).  Wait for ACX version.

I read an article the pre-orders already sold out everywhere including EVGA, but I never received the pre-order email notification that I had signed up for.  With that said it is getting close to release so I'd like to think pre-orders should be up soon.

I don't think what you (and I ) signed up for at EVGA is a pre-order. Its notification that orders from their store are open. A couple of retailers had pre-orders up for stock they [ have / expect / are being shipped ] (choose one).

In reality, I'm hoping some detailed info about the EVGA AIB cards is released a few minutes before opening the store so I can think about my decision and not make a panic buy of a FE card just to get this over with.

This is correct; we are not offering pre-orders at this time. The Auto-Notify button will simply send a notification once they go on sale. You can see the difference between that and a Pre-Order button on the EU SC17 page

LOL!  $599 MSRP is fine.  Those Titan X, Titan XXXX were the REAL ripoff.   1080 is faster than Titan X.  Maybe you meant "GP104 is the real ripoff" for Titan X owners? LOL!

Sorry, I didn't mean to, but it is a fact that 1080 is faster than Titan X.  The 1070 is going to be faster than the Titan X according to the CEO and it is only $379.  Even if the 1070 is a bit slower or same performance of the Titan X, it'd still feel like ripoff for Titan X owners.

I was hoping you would not do it but you did it. LOL.  You overpaid for it.  If you would wait for a couple of months, nVidia will bundle a free game (base on past releases) with it and get the ACX versions for cheaper.

I sold my 980s i don't have any decent cards. Also i run SLI im not doing ACX again i plan on getting hybrid coolers later on they only fit reference design.  I know what im doing. The only thing i wonder is if i should have waited for reference sc since they will be the top tier cards before the FTW..ect and prob have better binned chips.

But honestly 2 of these will give more than enough to drive 1440/165hz and even one with gsync i prob wont even bother overclocking.

I like your thinking. I wasn't planning on running sli until later but went ahead and bought a pair from Frys also.

My order (with 1 day delivery) says scheduled for delivery by 4:30pm Friday the 27th. But at the top of the order says. will ship when available...

Guess I need to get a HB bridge.

Both better be faster than titan x. What's the point in releasing new tech if it doesn't beat the previous generation? Guess some people like buying low end chips. Talk about getting ripped off.

Yes, I will enjoy my low end chip 1070 chip that is close to, if not faster than your $1,000 chip.

Not hurting at all as my titan x's do everything I need them to do right now. Having four of them is also awesome.

It may be faster, but it still won't change the fact that it's a low end chip.

But honestly 2 of these will give more than enough to drive 1440/165hz and even one with gsync i prob wont even bother overclocking.

This was my plan, but not knowing how long it will be before the AIO hybrid coolers come out makes me hesitant. I got another hybrid 980Ti to pair with the one I have, I may just hold out. And after the irritating conversation I had with EVGA CS this morning, I'm not feeling as inclined to shell out money.

You know, other than the 980Ti hybrid I just bought. Heh.

I realize that EVGA probably isn't going to say what variants will come out and when, or what time the FE goes on sale on the 27th, or if they will have the HB bridges (although really that should be something that can be answered) but that rep was just a snot about it.

Hard to make an informed purchase decision when everything is cloaked in secrecy to soak your customers for a +$100 reference card made even more coveted via artificial scarcity.

Yeah, they'll sell them all. But just because you CAN doesn't necessarily mean you SHOULD.

It makes people more inclined to look elsewhere when the first viable option appears.

Sorry, I don't give out my cards for free. Just wait until the actual high end chips come out and buy new card then.

WOW, you must be really rich! Can you give me one of them so I would have high end chip too? Pretty please!  I can't afford high end chip like you.

Sorry, I don't give out my cards for free. Just wait until the actual high end chips come out and buy new card then.

    hey guys,

completely new to PC gaming. I'm planning on building my very first PC as soon as the 1070 hit the streets so I can fiinally throw my PS4 into the trash can.
What I'm still trying to find out is how necessary pre-ordering really is regarding these new cards, especially because they really seem to be hyped quite a lot.
I'm livin in the EU (Germany) so I don't know if these EVGA products are available in our local stores (if - and that's what I'm asking: online stocks will be relatively limited)

Anyway, thank you guys. really looking forward to this whole pc gaming project as you can imagine :D

I don't know anything about a GTX 1070 but what I will ask you to do is keep an eye out in Germany for retail and web stores known to carry EVGA products.

As there doesn't seem to be any 'official' pre-order system, I'd avoid pre-orders.  Buying from a reputable source as soon as orders open will probably get you your card as soon as or sooner than preordering.  I've seen it in the past several times that hardware preorders end up shipping after day 0 orders.

GPU: 970 SC (soon to be 1080 ACX)

    Storage: 2x 1TB SSD's, 2x 300GB Velociraptors and a 3TB 7200 RPM drive (no RAID)

Yes, there is no central official pre-order system. The pre-orders have all been from retailers who (I suppose) ordered x number of cards from EVGA (in the case of EVGA FE cards). The retailers handle their own sales. Whether or not they broke some contractual agreement by offering to pre-sell their allotment, I don't know.  The fact that pre-orders were cut-off quickly indicates to me that the allotments were sold and they stopped taking orders.

Its a gamble, the retailers may not get the cards prior to actual release. Although I have heard (2nd hand) that at least one retailer already put cards out on the shelf (by mistake). But all the retailers taking pre-orders we've talked about are reputable sources and business partners of EVGA. Amazon, Frys, Newegg, Best Buy, Microcenter, B&H, etc. All reliable.    Ebay is another matter.

There are very unofficial web pages which have web links to the retailers, but they are just links that get a few pennies every time someone follows that link, and maybe a dollar if someone uses it to actually buy something. (Which is why 90% of all web links are just links to someone else's web page)
