200% scaling at 1080p is 4k (1080x2=2160 or 200%) so you were at 2880 or 5k, not 4k.

Actually that is not true. UHD 4K = 400% at 1080p.  Resolution is more than just the height (1080, 1440, 2160), resolution is the height times width.

1920x1080 = 2,073,600 pixels x 4 (400%) = 8,294,400 pixels
3840x2160 = 8,294,400 pixels which is 4 times the resolution of 1080p which is 400% scaling

2560x1440 = 3,686,400 pixels and UHD 4K is 2.25 times 1440p, or 225% scaling
3,686,400 x 2.25 = 8,294,400 pixels (UHD 4K)

200% scaling (or times 2) at 1440p would be:
2560x1440 x 2 = 7,372,800 pixels
3620x2036 = 7,370,320 pixels   It's not exactly 200%, but that is the closest resolution to it being whole numbers and what Nvidia DSR gives you for 200% scaling at 1440p

Very informative thank you.

@OP beautiful system man +1!!! Looks sexy as all get up!

Thanks!!

Great post, thanks for the info.

OP has a nice build too.

I would get the super nova 1600 if you do plan on a 4th card and a ####x cpu.

Thanks.

My only concern with the Super Nova 1600 is that I am moving to a country that uses just 100v outlets so I am not sure if it supports that.

Moving to a what?
   Why would you do that?

If that's the case I would look into getting a power conditioner ( something like the panamax m4300 or newer).

I'd stick to three. I have had quad sli and quad crossfire before. Often buggy in games and I had to change to tri sli/ tri fire sometimes just to have less issues. If you have a hobby of ocing and chasing scores then by all means. However, I felt if that was your goal you would have a 5690x. Aesthetically I think 3 looks better, 4 looks too busy. At the end of the day you see your pc the most, and well I don't know about you but I don't care too much what other people think my pc looks like lol.

I just wanted to update. I gamed BF4 at 200% scale @ 1440P and Ultra no AA and I am getting about 90 FPS avg and with a overclock about 110 FPS average. That's quite a bump from the 60 FPS avg I was getting with the 2 cards. But, it still felt playable but choppy for some reason though. Actually my whole system feels kind of choppy now, even when I am just browsing the net. I don't know if it's because I have only 16gb of ram or more Nvidia updates need to take place or just some random hiccup. Perhaps it's the power supply?

Did you have your computer set to  max power; not power save mode.  I noticed mine could be a bit choppy (not game mode), but other programs, when I had power save mode on.  Something to try.

@seth89

Im moving to Japan. I will look into a power conditioner maybe after I try it. 2 people told me now with first hand experience that it may just work.

@nycx360

I think Im gonna stick to 3 way SLI as well. I would have to get a EATX and a power supply just to try out 4 way SLI though so you know...

@Methodical2

I dont think I had power save mode on. But I have only played BF4 with 3 way SLI. I dont think its optimised as say Tombraider, which is probably the ultimate in SLI experience.

No need to go with 4 Titan X, waste of $1k.  I had 4 OG GTX Titans running, when I moved to 3 x GTX Titan X I doubled my frame rates.  Scaling past 3 is really, really bad.
