I'm still a noob at the game so my medic my have a beret but he can't do anything else, no med kits etc.

Yeah, I can give you that.  Its just those ones that have a higher level gun like the M60 or MG36 that just stand there staring at me are the ones that get to me

Unfortunately this is true, but where can you learn to fly.  There really should be a practice round offline within the game for vehicles especially for flying.

I agree as well to this.  One solution could be to find an empty server on a map with helis and try them out then.  Im all for learning how to fly, id just prefer it if people didnt attempt to do it in a Blackhawk filled with other people, lol.

so can you give us some flying tips?  What controls do you use? Mouse/keyboard, and if so what keys are set?  I only try with no one around, but I've crashed multiple times because the controls I have are using mouse to pitch and that causes me to over correct and crash...any suggestions?

wasd and keys Left/Right/up/down  arrow, WASD changes angle the heli while arrow keys turn the heli.
Example: to fly left use left arrow, up arrow for going up, etc. (I think this is by default not sure). W key makes the heli tip forward, S key makes it tip back, A key tip left, etc.
NOTE: I THINK THIS IS BY DEFAULT BUT I'M NOT SURE

tHere are a couple of things that I am Dissapointed with. The first is that there is on quick voice menu. Ive seen in the booklet that you are supposed to be ablew to press "Q" and have a voice menu, but it doesnt work for me.  If you do get someone who revives you, you cant say thanks, or spot out enemy snipers or ask someone for ammo.
The other thing is that you cant lay down. When youre sniping or just trying not to get hit, this is a must.
Anothe thing is, there doesnt seem to be any anti personel mines. I loved thoes in BF 2142.
Dont get me wrong here, in givint the game a 9, but thats only because of the things that are missing. Everything that IS in the game is amazing.

Oh, that's like a Eureka moment for me...I was just so concerned with controlling with the mouse I didn't think to drop the mouse and grab the arrow keys.  I'll have to try this soon - on a zero person server :)

If you see a sniper, press Q to spot them and your guy will say, "I see a sniper or something". If you need ammo, point at an assault guy your team and press Q, your guy will shout at him for ammo.

And about laying down, I'm so happy that's out of the game. A lot of would people lay down the second they saw someone no matter how close they were and snipers would lay down and camp the whole map and do nothing. As if there aren't enough snipers doing nothing as it is.

What's with the Sniper hate?  Everyone seems to have a problem because they think snipers don't do anything because they stay back and pick people off.  Well, damn it to hell, I do a lot.  I use my motion sensor a heck of a lot, I use my spotting a lot and I use my mortars a lot.  I'm not there to view the scenery, just because you are some medic, or engineer or assault doesn't mean you are any better than me simply because you run in to the fire - it's damn hot on the outside as well.

Maybe you do something, but a lot of recon players don't.

I think it was last weekend we were playing Isla Inocentes on the EVGA server and the attackers were almost all recon. The last part of the map seriously lasted almost an hour because the recon were sniping from the middle island and doing nothing else. Since they weren't attacking they weren't dying and their tickets were going down so slow.

I've also seen recon that are sniping but charges are being planted and defused. If they aren't covering the points as a recon sniping people or laying down mortar fire, what are they looking at?

The beginning of Port Valdez is another example, even since the beta, of having an over population of recon on the attacking team. Sitting on that hill doesn't do much for your team even if you are doing mortar strikes.

In my opinion. Any class played at it's best is more helpful than the recon on the attacking side. The only exception being a recon who doesn't have a sniper rifle. I like sniping in games, I really do, but in a game mode about rushing, sitting in one spot picking off guys with infinite respawns doesn't help the team much.

Playing as a recon on the defensive side on the other hand... knock yourself out. :)

I have to agree with you that in the cases where the entire team, or much of it, is only Recon then yes the entire team gets screwed.  I've seen that and it is frustrating and I've changed to another class a couple of times but I always get killed very quickly.  I've decided that I can best help my team by picking off players and laying down mortar fire...some maps mortar fire helps because it can destroy an MCOM station (in Rush mode) without you having to engage it...you simply collapse the house.

I'm also afraid of confrontation so I sit back and watch ... with one hand on my rifle.  ;p

Personally i think you get worse players in hc mode, after all a well placed shot in the foot gets a kill more or less, but in normal mode if you aim that bad you get wasted easy, just imo.

Squad tdm im loving atm.  Great fun to go round with spas and blast away.  Always satisfying pwnin these 40mm nade whores with shotguns

I think I found one of my Disconnecting from the game issues.... I have a "Gamers" D-Link router... Seems the Firmware was corrupt... I updated it... Went 6+ hours gaming last night without a single disconnect.

The Crashing to the desktop seems to be the game itself though. I have been able to identify one map and one particular M-Com planting that makes it happen every single time.

Time for the patch... Come on DICE!!!

speaking of crashing, I BSOD'd last night.  To make matters worse when I rebooted, it immediately BSOD'd again.   Next reboot and everything was fine again.    I had changed the angle of view thingie so maybe that had something to do with it.

Your not alone ... That said.. On a full server I think a max of 3 Recons is ideal on any map.... I love picking off the Defensive players when they try to disarm.

Also... I found starting as an engineer, and then collecting a killed snipers kit... Equals a serious amount of fun with a fast mobility. Most of the time folks go... WHAT THE!!! Where is the sniper!.. Looking for the wrong "Uniform"

I also find Bonzia'ing to the M-coms right off the bat puts the defense on their heals and keeps them in camp.. Vs to many snipers and the Defense advances up into our space....

what does it mean when you join a server and you have no map visible, and (as a sniper) I don't see my mortar lockon target...is that Hardcore?  So also, as a sniper, my motion sensor is useless without a map, and on some maps I can get lost.

Yes, it was a Hardcore server.

So much work to do... someone has to do it.

Absolutely love this game. I was sick of the MW:2 hackers and love the fact that this incorporated vehicles even though they might be annoying and cheap at times (at least there aren't the killstreaks, pure game-breakers for realism). I'm glad I'm looking into a 480 because this game will be even more gorgeous crank up all the way at 1920X1200 on my T260. The immersion of this game gets much more intense than MW:2.

I hate the mortar strike timing with friendly fire on, the seconds it takes for the mortar strike to come down your team takes the building and rushes the building you just put the mortar strike on. I find myself screaming "nooo get back, get back"

Budded in on this thread late but... I bought two copies - one for my main rig and one for my second rig in my LAN.  Haven't had gaming moments like this since Day of Defeat beta.

My apartment is a battlefield now...

I always check the server info to make sure they are running PB now, a lot are not and it is insane the amount of hackers running aimbot and such. Plus, I don't know your system, but even my cards are way overkill for this game. They hardly work even with everything turner up -AA. This game runs Havok and a Quad core is what I am wanting. This is the first game that has taken me completely away from 2142, even with it's faults. I have games I have never played, but want to because of 2142, so that is saying something for BBC2 in my little world.

NOTHING compares to BF2 in terms of complete game play.  Commander, Squads, Communication, Voice commands, Planes, Helis, Vehicles.  It's just a much better game than BF BC2.  Nice graphics but much worse overall game play.

They need an update with all that stuff back in the game.  They'll probably charge you another $20 for it.

Hmph.  Meh.

This is probably nothing new to most of you, but it only took me 17 levels to realize something about my RECON position...A nice way to gauge your shot is to press and hold the fire button, which keeps your scope on the enemy and you see where the shot lands so you can adjust....crap, if I knew this before I would have been a little better!!!  As it stands I fire and duck, fire and duck...I'm the sniper all of you hate!

I can't get this to happen.  My recon is only starting out so maybe it's a different gun.  Everytime I try just holding down on the fire button it just shoots.  So I'm the sniper no one has to worry about  .   Have you upgraded your sniper rifle?

@Z-Knight ,again, you also mentioned getting lost on hardcore maps.  Hitting M, the default map button, brings up a map so you can get yourself orientated.

maybe it's the sniper rifle you use...the bolt action ones (like M24, GOL, 95) is where you can use it...sorry for not mentioning that.  Yes the other ones, the semi-auto ones just keep firing...I tried using those but the recoil on them make me just spray my shots so I gave up and use the bolt action ones.  I got to platinum level on the GOL but before that I was strictly using the M24...they are about the same in my opinion.  The M95 is the most powerful one but it has a slower rate so it kind of sucks,...and now I'm sucking with it because it also has a lower bullet drop so I'm overcorrecting it thinking I'm still using the GOL.

thanks about that map info...I was using the escape to see the map and it's annoying when you don't use the WASD keys (I use arrows) because that button is so far away.

Anyone else having trouble getting updates at  Statsverse.com  ... for some reason I'm constantly in the queue, and I had it get down to 10 seconds once, before it went to 35 seconds, then 4 seconds, then 55 seconds, then 3 minutes, then 1 minute, etc, etc, etc....now it is at 3 hours and it keeps jumping around...it  has been over 21 hours since I got an update.
