This game has gotten really good reviews, and everyone here seems to love it also.  I am just curious since I have not purchased it yet, how does it compare to the series?  I have played bf1942, vietnam, and bf2 and those are amazing games.    Just how does it feel compared to those titles?  Seems to be a game between bf2 and bf2142.  But I am going to pick this up as soon as I get the cash.

I played those games and ended up playing 2142 the must, I just got hooked on it. It seemed to move faster then the others. BFBC2 moves pretty well but it is different. Graphics w/ physx is way better, but the way the soldier runs and bumps into other players reminds me more of COD4. It's more like COD4 on steroids to me. The other BF's are dated games, but the fun factor with the older games is still there for me, it's just that this game is new. I recommend it, but I wouldn't call it a smooth transition from the older BF's. There will be a learning curve and not just because you have noob weapons to start. It will be good for you to pick up died guys kits though.

There is a learning curve to the game. A couple of my clan mates, who are BF vets, get insanely pissed when they die to a guy with slivers of health left. They are having fun with it still. Ten of us got kicked off a server last night because we kept winning.

Saw my first 2 hackers tonight. Guys called Dblock. Running with saws and were about 70/1 when I quit the game. You couldn't even spawn as they hit you immediately where ever you were. Unfortunately I wasn't in my server so I just quit the game.

Saws?....lol. Thats funny, but I am not surprised.  This completely justify my suspicions. Our squad had played on a couple of servers during this week and weekend...... and we have noticed many weird things while playing.  Thanks for the info Raver

Those who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags!
The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. When you abuse it, it reverses on you and it hurts you.The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.

Hay guys, Thanks for the games. That was seriously fun. It seems much improved to me accept the usual players that seem no matter how much you shoot them they don't die, but I know for me every on-liner has that.

LOL, I know what you feel like I was playing earlier just messing around and not many on the server, I got sucked in to it and the next thing I know it's full. So, I didn't want to leave to join vent. Now that I have been playing for a long time, I got to go do a bunch of junk stuff before work tomorrow

Well you can check out the #6 guy on the leaderboard, Bu.Rogers, and tell that there isn't something fishy going on there.

I love this game...

Here's the set up, my friends and I join a server and on a defending team that is getting pounded. The map was on Port Valdes, I spawned the moment the spawn moved to the base with the Apache. When I show up, some guy jumps in the Apache and I decide I'd gun for him. Well he set me up for a great kill streak there, just flying high over head of the Russian base. I was gunning anything that had a flash or rocket trail coming from it. My friends were cheering us on in vent, and we managed to win that round due to the Russians no tleaving their base trying to kill us in the Apache. Absolutely fun.

Was getting fed up with MW2 this weekend. It used to be that if you stayed away from ground war that you hardly ever ran into a hacker, but lately it seems like hackers have started migrating to other game modes. That and everyone on my friends list is now playing BC2 leaving me with a bunch of randoms to play with. So long story short, my new DVD drive and a copy of BF2 will be arriving on Tuesday so sayith UPS tracking.

The game is very intence, the fire fights are pretty sweet, my only complaint and I think they did this on purpose, was that the levels were way to small, I would have loved to see battlefield 2 type levels but I guess battlefield 3 is the only game that will match battlefield 2 in scale and depth. The weapon unlocking feature is pretty awesome two, it adds tons of replay value to the game, I sometimes spend a few hours just trying to unlock a better upgrade for my weapon.

graphics wise, its pretty obvious this is a consel port, anti aliasing doesn't work on all the object ie fences and some buildings, dx11 is hardly noticeable and doesn't really add much to the game, IMO if you want jaw dropping graphics then your going to have to wait till battlefield 3, the physx in the game are pretty sweet and add to my hunger for battlefeild 3 because its supposed to use the same physx engine, its defenitly worth a buy, isn't a replacement for Call of Duty MW 2 though.

Game play: 8
Graphics: 7
Sound: 9
Replay Value: 8

Overall: 8.25

Imagine this but with 32v32 and maps 5x as big with more vehicles and planes, that's pretty much battlefield 3.

The gunner is as only good as the pilot setting him up. I learned something from him that's for sure. I try to do what he did with the Blackhawk while trying to dodge rockets and snipers. Sometimes it's not as easy as my pilot made it for me that round.

thats my biggest complaint as well.  I remember in BF2 playing for weeks and even months to reach the next level.  This game ppl will be at or near the top within just a few months.  most of  the high ranks in BF2  had well over 1000 hours.  I guess its just what ppl want tho, the COD4 style of rankings where it was possible to hit 55 in 2-3 days.

my only other complaint would be if you are going to put an attack chopper in the game, at least make it have realistic controls. Doesnt have to be a flight simulator but more like BF2 controls, I mean hell  not being able to roll , turn, climb, or descend properly makes it feel like you tried to make it soo any noob can fly the chopper.  Might as well give us autoaim for infantry and little sentry guns on our shoulders that shoot at ppl when we suck too much.

beyond that im having a goodtime in the game, graphics at times are incredible.  and the M60 seems a little overpowered, but i cant complain about that afterall it was the gun RAMBO used.  Sometimes when im mowing down enemies with the M60 I start yelling like rambo too and it seems to help.  I yell and ppl die and then part of my basement blows up and I barely make it out, just like in RAMBO

I enjoy it greatly and some of the maps are amazing! At this rate it will become my favorite game of all time. Still to early to tell. But it looks like that is the direction it is going.
So what do you think?

I have to agree, but I'm still a noob and getting pwn'd and my k/d ratio sucks.

no joke, battlefield 2 was and is my favorite game ever, the only game that will take the crown is battlefield 3, hopefully they open up the maps a bit and keep the focus off of single player like they did in battlefield two, lol because battlefield 2 just threw you into a game with a bunch of bots! thats epic.

I love this game to death, but the server browser pisses me off to no end. I don't understand how, after creating 10 FPS games on the PC, DICE still hasn't learned how to code a proper server browser. They just need to mimic Valve's server browser.

Re:What is your opinion on BFBC2? 2010/03/16 11:15:48 (permalink)
OK... Now that this has been out for  two weeks... I have a few general observations...

  • Hackers...
    • Many yell hacker... But as I progress, new tools or options appear and what I once thought was a potential hacker or "Lag" death looks more and more like it is simply the options they use.
    • Lag kills.
    • Playing this game is addictive. Seriously.
    • I (In the minority it seems) really enjoy the time and points needed to get to the next level. As I get higher, it (So far) takes more points and more finesse.
    • Absolutely HATE when I have been in a match for an hour... we are about to win.. I have a Knifing kill streak, two 5k awards, stars, Mortar kills up the but, and multiple head-shot points... And the dang game shuts off like a light switch and I am staring at my desktop... So it seems I get NONE OF IT in my stats!!!!!1... OMG Mad again.... Must breath.....
    • Love the sniper. I think having to "Lob" rounds long range is sweet, and getting head-shots that way is even sweeter.
    • HATE the tube. It lands at their feet and the live!!!! WHAT??????? Hello.. It is a grenade launcher people!!. A normal nade would kill them and part of the house they are in.... Grrrrr.
    • Not being able to shoot when alone in a heli sucks... Seriously...
    • Not being able to see more stats, and it is important to me. I want to know how many head-shots I have for example.... Or a picture of a person showing me where the shots I take have been hitting... say the last five matches or something...
    • Nade timer is weak. I do a long throw it and it blows up in the air. Quick release mind you...
    • Playing on the same team and or with folks you can communicate to, PWNS the opponents.
    • Using Multiple monitors... Makes the experience that much better. It really does make it a better experience...
    • HATE the server search. Still cannot save EVGA in my favs.
    • Love being able to see friends online and going into the game they are in.
      • Do not like that I cannot see where they are or what team until I am in the game. The little "Team" thing only shows me the leaders and their positions, not the players...
    • Not a fan of individuals that run their own server and act like God. They want you to play their way so they can kill you better and get pissed when you do not. I know, they pay for it and all. But whatever...
    • Is there an auto balance?
      • Teams all pile on one side... have had many games where they are all on one side vs me on one other guy. Even though the four of us had been in the server for a while, they come in and act like life is not fare and play by their wants.. Not asking bends me the wrong way.

Question....
  • Anyone know if we do get the points we earn during a match but the server looses connection or what have you?

i have been waiting for a pc game like this since bf 1942, vietnam, and bf2.  it has a lot of things that need to get fixed, but even with that the game is amazing.  i love seeing the snipers in the little window and shooting a nade against the building and killing them.  i only wish nvidia would fix their drivers and that i would stop getting white screens for no reason in the middle of the game.

OK... Now that this has been out for  two weeks... I have a few general observations...

  • Hackers...
    • Many yell hacker... But as I progress, new tools or options appear and what I once thought was a potential hacker or "Lag" death looks more and more like it is simply the options they use.

Question....
  • Anyone know if we do get the points we earn during a match but the server looses connection or what have you?

Good points, but the hacker part you really got me.

1)  One night, we have up to 10 people playing and we had the best gunners (Burrari, Killuchen, Lunatic, Lastsamurai) wasting a whole clip, knife on a guy and he still lived.  Mind you, he was level 8 or 9.  I decided to look for him and found him. I was a medic at that time and the guy charged me straight ahead. I was me aiming at his head, emptied 60 rounds with the 3rd powerful gun for medic and still he didnt die.  That to me is hacking.
Other map where HRD4U2BME and I where guarding a building (top floor) near the opposite team spawn point. Search every floor to be sure noone was there.  HRD watching the top stairs while I am looking around for enemies on the same floor, all of the suddened, I got knifed in the back, then the dude Knifed HRD from behind knowing that there was one way in and that is coming up the stairs.  Now tell me, how does an enemy spawned behind you on the top floor where you are guarding it the only way to go up to that floor? Seriously?  I called that Ghost Spawning.
Last example, people not dying when a tank not only runs over him, but gunner and the main cannon blasted him to no end.

2) Yeap, game is addictive.  First weekend I stated till 4:00AM in the morning playing it. And the following day at 2:30 AM.   As far as upgrading, yes it does make your guns and health powerful, but you get them as you level up not when you are at the single digit levels (thus the term Hacking comes in place)

3) If you crashed and go back to desktop, your numbers and progress are saved, but if you get at BSOD and the computer reboots, say "Hasta la Vista" to your stats.  Believe I can confirm this, It always happens when I am in the groove and the kills pile up more than my death

4) Having multiple monitors is the best thing you can have. (Nvidia did you get my memo yet!!! where are the fr surround drivers, you teasers)

5) When teams are not balanced, even better for you.  Could you say.....Mortar Strike!!

6) Cant save the EVGA server, yet? Sheesh Lois  Here is a tip, uninstall the game, take it to the nearest EA HQ, ask for the person responsible for this glitch and slap him with the game, tell him to fix it ..hehehe If the person ask you why the slap, you tell them because the game doesn't save the EVGA server properly

The game is extremely entertaining, specially when you have people you can talk to....u dig Maximus Decimus Meridius?

You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.

hahahahaha^^^^^

Oh I know there are hackers for sure.. I am just saying my personal grumblings have found that the number of them my be less do to the unlocking's I am getting, than I orginally wanted to think for my own person health.

I just leave the server when I see these idiots. I mean really. A fake stat is as valuable as monopoly money. Worthless.

I remember when I was heavy into CS... And this guy kept pwning me. I got upset and challenged him... after a few weeks of ego contests, I find he lived in Seattle.... At the time there was a LAN in a game store..  I met him there one day to take him on one to one...... Lets just say he left in a police car....

You see. He was a hacker in the purist form. Lost an ego contest and came to the store to "Show" his buddies that he had skills. His KDR was 8-1 in the game online.... Well after four matches and I killed him 56-2 he was overly angry, shoved the computer off the desk, kicked over a few other things and came after me.....

The store manager, his friends, my friends and a few others wanting to watch this pissing contest all jumped the guy (Not fighting, just constraining) and called the police.....

So I now see it a lot differently. Just like those that steal because they do not want to earn the funds first, are the same as hackers. They are worthless and not worth my time. I never should have fallen into an ego contest. After all... It was my own pride that got me into that situation, and his mouth that forced him to show up...

.  There is nothing more enjoyable than pwning a hacker in a game fair and square. I agree with you. Once I see something fishy in a server, I just leave. Man, I never heard anything like it. It was fun to read, I tell ya. Thanks for sharing it.

LOL, great story AB. I used to get a little upset at hackers, but not any more. I feel sorry for them now. They suck so bad they have to hack, that's how I look at it. I guess they are insecure people wanting the easy way out and they don't care about ruining the game for everyone else. Like atfrico said, it feels great to to pwn them. In 2142 I would sometimes make it a point to hunt them out and collect their tags. It wouldn't always work, but when it did it was great. And then, I would have to remind myself after that it's just a game and I'm not that good myself
