It's just my name... never thought it would be used for my forum name. I'm not even sure there was a forum at the time I registered my name. My name would have been my name for FPS's had I known it would be used on a forum.

The name I have adopted in the FPS/general gaming arena is: Laughing.Man.d8D, Laughing_Man_d8D, LaughingMan_d8D
Depending on the character limit of what game I'm playing.

Yes, the 'antagonist' from the main arc of the first season of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. I've been a fan of GitS world since reading the manga in the 90's. I'm just another copycat.

So much work to do... someone has to do it.

Nereus.. I have been a surfer from a young age and raced yachts for a few years too, and have an affinity with the ocean.. so.. basically a 'son of the sea'  ..easiest to quote wiki*haha*pedia:

Nereus (Νηρεύς), in Greek mythology, was the eldest son of Pontus (the Sea) and Gaia (the Earth), a Titan who (with Doris) fathered the Nereids, with whom Nereus lived in the Aegean Sea. In the Iliad, the Old Man of the Sea is the father of Nereids, though Nereus is not directly named. He was never more manifestly the Old Man of the Sea than when he was described, like Proteus, as a shapeshifter with the power of prophecy, who would aid heroes such as Heracles, who managed to catch him even as he changed shapes. Nereus and Proteus (the "first") seem to be two manifestations of the god of the sea who was supplanted by Poseidon when Zeus overthrew Cronus.

The earliest poet to link Nereus with the labours of Heracles was Pherekydes, according to a scholion on Apollonius of Rhodes.

During the course of the 5th century BCE, Nereus was gradually replaced by Triton, who does not appear in Homer, in the imagery of the struggle between Heracles and the sea-god who had to be restrained in order to deliver his information that was employed by the vase-painters, independent of any literary testimony.

Nereus was known for his truthfulness and virtue:

But Pontos, the great sea, was father of truthful Nereus who tells no lies, eldest of his sons. They call him the Old Gentleman because he is trustworthy, and gentle, and never forgetful of what is right, but the thoughts of his mind are mild and righteous.

The Attic vase-painters showed the draped torso of Nereus issuing from a long coiling scaly fishlike tail. Bearded Nereus generally wields a staff of authority. He was also shown in scenes depicting the flight of the Nereides as Peleus wrestled their sister Thetis.

In Aelian's natural history, written in the early third century CE, Nereus was also the father of a watery consort of Aphrodite named Nerites who was transformed into "a shellfish with a spiral shell, small in size but of surpassing beauty."

Nereus was father to Thetis, one of the Nereids, who in turn was mother to the great Greek hero Achilles, and Amphitrite, who married Poseidon.

Drerex comes from my last name.  I needed a good online name that was not common.  I hated having to change my online name every time I registered at a new site.  So I mixed in extreme with my last name and came out with Drerex.  Now with that in place I started designing computer cooling solutions and needed a name for my first CPU Cooler design and called it the D-Rex.  So that is why you also see the D-Rex in my Avatar.

Haha!!  I am getting there also.  I now have grey in my beard.  Reaching the mid-life crisis time frame.  I guess I need to go out and build me a 67' GT-500 or something to regain my youth.

Well my name came from the original CoD... It was my first ever PC game and anytime I logged into my clans server uZa all custom maps MP (which at the time I wasn't a member) I would die almost instantly.. So, they started calling me Dead on Arrival... Because at that time I was using the default Unknown Soldier name what can I say I was a noob..!
