HardOCP is gaining on us. And quickly. I checked last week and they were on pace to overtake us in a little under a year. Today it is 8.5 months until they overtake. Considering Folding@EVGA's strongest time is the 1st half of the month, our PPD is going to creep down until May 1. If the mods aren't paying attention to this and start some kind of new promo for more EVGA bucks or something.....We will be #2 shortly after the 4th of July.

We are all aware. [H] is not the only team. OCN has made HUGE strides this last year. Couple of things to consider... - Many will have to start paying for their pretty little "Online" HPCS folding they do, or stop doing it.
- a lot of us have purchased the new GTX680's and they are not folding worth a hoot right now. As soon as that changes a rather nice jump forward in production will happen...

I've been planning a little something for this issue, but have decided to wait and see how things fall after May 10th before moving forward.

This first thing is getting OLD. Do it for your reasons NOT because someone is going to catch us. Sorry if i made anyone mad. One thing I would lkie to say is we were doomed as soon as stanford let the Nvidia haters run their program! The only way I see them changing their toon is when Intel and Nvidia start looking at pulling their funding from this program. Why you ask, because Stanford let the haters build the clients where AMD is holding all the cards. Again didn't want to make anyone mad.

Hello all, This battle for the #1 spot has pushed both our teams and OCN harder and faster than anything else, the competition is good but at the end of the day the points are nice for the teams, however the ultimate winners are ALL of us Fold on for the science and for the cure!

Everyone has their own opinion. While I do not care if we are first, it does help maintain focus and offer a goal for those that thrive in that environment. So I support those it is important to as much as I do those it is not. Mine is this... I will work with our team as much as I had in the past, and add to this effort in the Crunching@EVGA part of our team. The 102 participants in that arena have already positioned us in the top 21 and the next few days we will be in the top 19 in the DCVault measured programs! http://www.dc-vault.com/showscores.php In WCG Specifically we as a team are always in the top 35 in overall team production and are climbing to the top 100 In The World! http://stats.free-dc.org/stats.php?page=team&proj=bwcg&team=28262 Bottom line... OCN and [H] are finding great success this year and deserve all the credit for doing so. We need to work with what we have and maintain focus on the big picture like many here have expressed... Why??? Because once will kill it/cure it with Folding we can kill/cure the rest with Crunching...

This has nothing to do with stanford favoring one type of hardware, the problem for intel is intel itself - Its much cheaper to build a multicpu AMD rig than its intel equivilent. If intel could offer quad cpu capable chips for a few hundred pounds then I think we would be buying them, they don't so we are left with AMD, up until magny cours came along most of the recent multi cpu folding was being done on lga 1366 due to reasonable set up costs, thats not possible with socket 604 or socket 1567 stuff. As for nvidia, stanford has made it known for years that they wanted a better ATI core and they now have one with opencl core 16 - its still not as good as nvidia core 15 so why the haters comment - after all, nvidia changed their chip design, not stanford

Hey fellas, There is no doubt that HardOCP is running like a juggernaut. They held the #1 position before we did and are quite simply Folding so hard (or [H]ard as they like to say), that they are making a good run at regaining that position. We had basically a run-a-way situation for a long time from our own points production with no-one in sight to compete with us. Now, we have some real competition again and I don't fear it at all. You really have to welcome any Team that can Fold that much as a "brother" in this great effort. You do have to exercise a bit of caution though if you're using the forecast over at Extreme Overclocking as the barometer. The overtake, from what I can tell, is set to a pretty short timeframe for their overtake calulation. So the time estimate to overtake (especially for large Teams with large production and swings) can move back and forth quite rapidly. I've seen times when the EOC overtake (between EVGA and [H]) said less than 1-year and then within a week or so, it can be 2-years or drop off the radar entirely. To be sure [H] is coming though and hopefully we can have a bit of fun with them the closer it gets. If I could pull (10) 4P systems out my hat, I would, but that isn't in the cards for me.

If you ain't 1st, your last. I'm currently out of commision till the GTX 680 client is out. My i7 950 does not crank out much at stock speeds. Waiting on EVGA's Z77 boards and Ivy to release. Wish I could do a folding farm, but all I have are a bunch of Dell machines with P4 HTs. I heard I would only get like 300PPD for each one though lol.

We have a mostly GPU-oriented team compared to [H], who rely mostly on a handful of huge-points bigadv folders. Our poor showing this month is a combination of the 680 not being supported and much lower PPD work units on our other GPU's.

I on the other hand folding at my max again like I was in the contest for a little while longer to help our cause :P Its pretty bad that were on a all time low for the past few days. And as to crunching there is 102 active with 15 retired. That is not a lot out of what 1500 active folders.

I have been MIA this moth with folding due to parting out my rigs and building an X79. I sold off my two GTX480s and I'm stuck with a 9600gso until my GTX580 arrives. I will be out of it for the month but I'll be back in full swing soon.

Thats our 350k people dippin out. Just a comment... Not meant to cause harm in any way... This kind of bothers me when I see this written. If "Everybody" was crunching we would have 1400+ crunchers. Not 102 ish. We have 102 cruncher of which about 30 have zero production for a while now. Those few folders do not make for all the loss in our Folding production. 680's do, natural attrition does, folks tired of Stanford does, Crunching does, Components in an RMA process does, Vacations do, heat does, gaming does and so on. The difference this year compared to any other is Crunching has been added to EVGA's options. All the other top teams already do Crunching and have for many years. Yet "They" are still catching us. Many of our "Crunchers" had already decided to leave folding and that made me look for other alternatives that may be a good place for them to still offer their desired want to help. Not the other way around. Our issue is not folders we already have, our issue is attracting more folders.

I've been thinking about crunching as well. How will folding and crunching affect one another? Is it possible to do both without putting too much strain on the system?

Well I don't know about others but I live on the Gulf Coast. Its already starting to get hot here. I been having to run my 2 AC's in my shop where all my rigs are just to keep them cool in day hours. At night I can drop to one AC, but I will have to start shutting down rigs very soon. Simply because I can not afford what it will cost to keep all this running. My power bill reaches $500 to $600 a month in the summer time if I leave it all running sometimes more. Sorry guys, but soon my folding will drop pretty low.
