Hey all --

With the new release today, I have skipped the cards that have been put on the market and am waiting for the Classified to go on sale. In doing so, I remembered back to the days when I got my 680 Classifieds and how incredibly impossible it was to get a waterblock for them until EVGA restocked a tiny amount of them.

Is there any news either way on waterblocks being offered for these cards either from EVGA or EK or anyone at all? It seems like a waste to keep an air cooler on a card like the Classified. If there is one offered I hope the stock is not like the 680 was.

On Reddit, an EK rep basically said they will have roughly the same type of block support as they did for the 980 series GPUs. Since they offered a block for the 980 Classified, I would be the same will hold true for the 1080.

I am holding out to see what the 1080 Hydro Copper has to offer, but one way or another I will have some variant of the 1080 with an nice EK block on it!

"Democracy is not freedom. Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to eat for lunch. Freedom comes from the recognition of certain rights which may not be taken, not even by a 99% vote. Those rights are spelled out in the Bill of Rights and in our Constitution. Voters and politicians alike would do well to take a look at the rights we each hold, which must never be chipped away by the whim of the majority."

Also the EK blocks DO NOT support the new SLI bridge, they don't fit. But the original bridges do. At least on the reference cards. So far.

I was thinking the same thing, asked Jacob on Twitter but no reply. Probably nothing concrete regarding it yet.

What I did notice however afterwards, was the Hydrocopper picture/render had a card with a custom PCB that was wider than usual and two 8-pins for power. So maybe the Hydrocopper will be a good buy... hope so!

Hydro Copper look as dream, even nicer than Hybrid.
This big part with EVGA GeForce HydroCopper logo give so nice look to card... amazing.
I tried Classified, K|NGP|N Classified, and both look amazing in my case, I tried and one EVGA reference my next wish is HydroCopper one day.
This would be right time for Hydro Copper. Hydro Copper with 8+8 pin are big plus from my perspective.

This morning is so nice for me when I saw such good new EVGA series.
All of them are nice, even little ACX 3.0 will keep in shadow graphics with similar design from other brands.

If the Hydrocopper carries an FTW or Classified PCB, it is going to be an amazing buy! That would definitely be worth the price.

I imagine this will apply for the 1080 Hydro Copper due to it's use of EK blocks?

In looking at the pics, it seems the problem is that the plastic section of the EK block covers the SLI connectors on the GPU side of the card. I'm thinking the problem can be rectified with a fine tooth saw and some sandpaper.

I'm more curious why the EK 1080 block won't work with the factory Nvidia back-plate.

Since the EK base block doesn't support the new SLI bridge, I'm really hoping they announce a classified waterblock in conjunction with EVGA alongside this card's release. (Similar to the 680 Classified block) It really doesn't make sense to keep it on air alone, most people getting this highly overclockable version will be wanting to put a waterblock on it and know what they are getting into with this specific card.

You don't have to. What I did was make an external watercooling box for mine with water lines feeding in and out the back two holes in my case (had 2 holes that fit the water lines perfect -- Level 10 GT.) Pump, 2x rads, 8 fans, Bitspower molex+fan power board (forget the name of it x-power?), and res are all in the external box. This way, the only thing in the actual computer are the lines and waterblocks. I like it this way so I can do maintenance on the watercooling stuff separate from the computer case. :)

Just an FYI, Hydro Copper blocks aren't made by us this round. Not sure who EVGA has gone with, they haven't told us a thing.

There won't be any EK blocks for non-ref EVGA cards this round as of this post.

Hmm that's not good. I was holding out for a Classified with an EK block.

I'm really hoping EVGA has a surprise in store for this then...

Thank you for the information though!

Interesting, so EVGA is doing water-block in-house ?
I sure hope they know what they are doing.
EK had been trusted source of water blocks for many years.

I'm still getting hydro copper from EVGA.

That's incredibly silly if true...who are they marketing this card to if it is specifically for high overclocking? There's a reason people with Classifieds use waterblocks/LN2/etc...

I just asked as well and they said there were no plans by EVGA and to look to third parties... :(

well, there will be pots on kingpin cooling if noone makes the Waterblock. I could see bits power doing it this round.

It seems that ek and evga are not seeing eye to eye anymore, which much is sad to hear.

Swiftech did their 780Ti classy Hydro Copper, so not necessarily will be "in house". Could be them again.

They will lose a ****load of clients. If you go over reddit, you'll already see people saying they'll take the strix or the MSI ^^

The problem is, they have already said that the Hybrid will not be a 14+3 I believe in the stream they said it was a 10? Less power available and on water... I really don't get why they are not doing a block for this card. Makes absolutely 0 sense.

It won't change any of the sales. They will stay sold out, just like they always have every single time that reddit said they would drop them. It's empty threats.. every.. time.. Reddit it 98% talk, 1% harassing streamers and forums, 1% action. I never head over to reddit, because it's exactly as I mention above.

Reddit has the exact answers everyone else has. Nothing. Evga doesn't comment on items that aren't released, even when reddit demands it. The Hydrocopper will be announced when it is finalized, just like it always has been. Before that, it is all speculations. Wait for an official statement.

10+1 for the HC from what I read on reddit.

Yeah... I'm also a big fan of everything being sold out, whatever the number of buyers are. To be far, it's far from limited to EVGA. It just means the consumers less than crap for all these guys. We learned to live with a while ago.
And yes obviously it won't mean the HC or the classified won't sell. Especially if they have another partner than EK for the blocs. But since they are not saying anything, the people who want a watercooled, high-end 1080, probably won't stay with EVGA. Until they reveal something interesting. But like you said, everything is sold out anyway.

The hybrid isn't a hydrocopper, they are two completely different cards and pcbs

Also 10 phases doesn't change the power to the card at all. 5 phases, 10 phases, and 14 phases deliver the same exact amount of power. Phases only smooth out the power delivery, not deliver more.

On air/water, phases will make minimal differences. This has been shown hundreds of times as people complain that the extra phases don't help their card overclock because they can't get it cold enough. The extra memory phases will probably help get smoother memory operations though, having 2 compared to 1 on the reference cards.

People always tend to go grab an Asus or a MSI card, sometimes even a gigabyte.. And then when a warranty is needed, they come back, because a lot of the other brands don't allow their cooler to be removed.. It puts a huge damper in a purchase when a 3 year warranty gets tossed out of the window with a single screw.

Not to mention, the nightmare that is known as Asus customer service. If you want to play with that fire, feel free... I will never go through that.
