Now I now why people using ptg pipes :) but when you get what's goin on, then you don't need them. But maybe next time I will use PTG.
With this pipes already done, one have bubbles. I was so upset that I decided to do it next day and leave it like that.
Today I will continue this transformation.

Here's a couple of quick finished pics of mine. Hate how I can't see much in my case. Huge cards block everything in the window haha

Forgot to take a pic after installing this.

Need to figure out something for lighting.. those pics I had to use flash just to see in my case. I have red leds hanging from around the fans but don't do much. Would be nice if I could remove the led lights from the original heatsink/fan from the card and place them on the side edges of the water blocks.. build some kind of shroud on the back side to cover them and they would light the cards up.

I've got a bunch of old black lights I could attempt to hang in there if it would do anything. Though something is telling me I need white lights to light it up.

You need to find out if 980ti classy will fit 1080 for you. I read somewhere, there is some differences but if you don't check then you don't know. In native res I have 2951 score with everything max ( I didn't think window mode make any difference). Finally everything worx perfect and games flying like rocket...
Thank you guys for any advice and good time with this project.

EVGA Classified 1080 Owners:

I've been emailing all known suppliers of water blocks etc. trying to see if we could get some water-block support going for CLASSIFIED 1080 and looks like my email to Alpha-cool paid off :-)

This is the first time I've heard about block support for 1080 Classified anywhere

See below:

Betreff: Compatible waterblock - EVGA CLASSIFIED 1080

Kommentar:

Dear Alphacool,

I am trying to find a compatible waterblock for the EVGA CLASSIFIED 1080 Graphics Card.

EK was initially meant to be making a full-cover waterblock for this card (as they did with all previous EVGA Classified models) however they recently cancelled their plans to make a water block for this model.

You can see from the link below:

There is a growing movement online urging a company to make a waterblock for this card.

Due to the greater height of the Classified some of the most recent universal waterblocks are not even compatible (for example: "EK-Thermosphere ".

Because of the lack of a full cover block AND lack of universal block support for the EVGA 1080 CLASSIFIED; I believe there is a very big gap in the market for the CLASSIFIED.

The Classified 1080 is also EVGA's flagship 1080 model.

I firmly believe if you manufactured a waterblock the enthusiast PC community would definitely remember this.

I recently watched a video by "J's 2 cents" saying Alphacool was "reaching out" to the community so I thought it would be a good idea to get in contact.

I am very active on many enthusiast forums on the GPU scene.

Thanks for your time; I look forward to hearing your reply.

I'm baack... sorta...
Guys, first of all... Sorry i vanished. Family stuff got in the way, both the bad and the good kind. The good being +1 family member in training.

Anyway. AHowes, i tried to answer that pm you sendt me in the middle of it all, but i have too low post-score to pm and... Yeah, i kind of gave up. Sorry.
As you guessed i used the screws that came with the 780waterblock+backplate. I was kinda cowboy-fitting them on as they where coned and i had no other screws handy. I'm sorry i wasn't clear about that and that i wasn't able to confirm the mm's of the tim-pads in time. Glad you got it working, though!

I'll try to keep an eye on this forum for a while.

I wish I had realized that the 980ti Classy block would fit on the 1080 Classy...I'd have bought them instead of the FTW.

Oh well.....these FTWs are great overclockers.

Yes.  It's exactly the same block.  The blocks I used on my 980ti Classys actually say, "780" right on them.

EK has confirmed via email this resistor (circled in red) may cause a compatibility problem:

Did any of you who got this to fit run into any compatibility problems with this resistor? How did you work around it?

Can an EVGA REP provide 'technical diagrams' / measurements please?  -- to be forwarded to the R&D team at EK.

Thank you. :-)
