Hello,

I am looking at the possibility of water cooling an EVGA GTX 770, either SC or FTW.

Assuming I can find a compatible water block, what is EVGA's policy on swapping the standard cooler for a third party water block and using that instead, with regards to the warranty?

Also, will EVGA's backplate be compatible with third-party water blocks, considering they are designed for use in conjunction with the standard coolers? I have tried looking for information on how exactly the backplates are mounted, but have been unsuccessful.

Finally, are EVGA themselves planning to develop any water-cooled 770s?

Thanks!

Odai.

Your warranty remains intact as long as you do no physical damage and return the card how you bought it.

Some Waterblocks will work, other will not. It all depends on how they mount to the card.

the 770 card has the exact same PCB design as the 680 so any waterblock for the 680 should work on the 770

Actually the PCB is identical to 780, the 780/TITAN waterblock SHOULD work, but honestly I would have to double check that before I encourage anyone to buy a 780 block for it

    Thanks for the responses guys.

According to the 'cooling configurator' tool by EK, there will be a separate block for the 770 series, so I'm guessing there is no compatibility with what is out there now?

Jacob, any chance you could confirm what others have said regarding the warranty when water cooling? I have had a look at the warranty terms, and they seem to imply aftermarket modifications are permissible as long as they are reversible. However, installing a water block would mean removing the original TIM, which cannot be replaced? There is also the matter of the warranty/SN sticker - is this placed over any screws?

    Thanks again.

As long as you put the original cooler back on if you need to do any RMA service, it is fine.

Sorry 770 and 780 are very similar, but not identical.

I wouldn't recommend to use a 780 block on it...

I posted this in the 780HC thread, but seems like I jumped the gun and this is the better place for it anyway. Is there any chance that you all will make a 770HC? I can't afford nor need the power of the 780, but would love to have a 770HC, since I watercool and would be nice not to have to worry about buying an aftermarket cooler again. Thanks!

will the EK geoforce 770 waterblock work with evga 770 sc w/acx?

these come with a free backplate right? :) I could have an SLI 770 setup for around 1k, not bad considering sli 780's, this seems like a steal lol

    Jacob?

No it will not. I had to return my cards and get different ones because I made that mistake. You need to make sure you get the 770's with matching serial codes to the ones shown in the ek cooling configurator. The easiest cards to find that work are the ones with serial code 02G-P4-2774-KR.

Figured I would just answer this question so people looking to watercool now that the 7xx cards are getting cheaper will have an easy answer.
