Anyone know if the EvBot was discontinued? I just bought a 780 Classy and one of the major reasons I choose the Classified was the EvBot port. But EVGA doesn't have it for sale anymore.

I've been wondering this as well as they seemed to have disappeared from EVGA's site back about the same time that NVIDIA forced EVGA to remove the EVBOT connector from the GTX 680 Classy.

That Amazon link did have 15 available, when I orderes mine last week. I wrestled with "should I? I mean, the software hack works fine for the 780 classy."

Glad i do for future support. I'm trying to pick up a Dark X79 now.

Any word if it really has been discontinued? I don't want to buy something that will not be really used in the future.

I think they are discontinued. Like another said, nvidia wanted them to be removed so users would not tamper with the card to much.

Whats the difference between EvBot vs afterburner with unlock voltage?

(on the GPU side)EVBOT goes higher in voltage.EVBOT controls more voltage points (can't remember, something like 3 or 5 different voltages including Memory voltages)Also, EVBOT can individually control each GPU separately - up to 3 can be controlled with 3 cables and it can store the profiles for all 3 at once.  If you have a 4th in SLI (lucky sob), then just unplug the cable from the EVBOT and connect it to tweak.  Also, say you are gaming and you start to see artifacts - reach over and grab the EVBOT and maybe pump more voltage into the gpu or memory - without ever leaving the game.   (on the motherboard side)EVBOT does a lot for the motherboard.  Lots of voltages controls. But also, the EVBOT has some unique "stress test" modes that slightly raise, or lower, the bus speed in predefined seconds.  For example, say you are stable at 4.9 Ghz.  You kind of are stable at 5.0 Ghz, but only for 5 or 10 seconds.  Set the EVBOT to "pulse" your multiplier from 49 to 50 for 1 second, every 3 seconds.  Has lots of levels from a few seconds to like several seconds. And, the EVBOT can be connected to the motherboard and 3 GPUs at the same time - externally to your system while you are in a game, for example. ^- I say all of the above without actually using my EVBOT yet except for plugging it into my 780 Classys just to power it on and poke around briefly. As for as discontinued, I'm worried about firmware support if it is.  I really wish, no beg, that EVGA would release the source code to the firmware, so we can continue to improve onto it.  That would make EVGA one of the most kick-ass companies that support their end users. I just picked up my first EVBOT for my new 780 Classified cards.  I know it is very much in danger of being discontinued and maybe no longer in use after the 700 series and EVGA X79 Dark.  But, since those are the components I'll be using, knowing the EVGA currently does support those, I'll be happy.  Who knows, maybe EVGA has an EVBOT 2 in the works for the Titan II, 800 series and beyond next year. All I know is out of all of the EVGA GPUs I have (200, 400, 500, 600 and 700 series), and hte EVGA motherboards I've had (X58, X79 - waiting on the Dark for my 3rd) - the packing for the EVBOT was the best "bad-ass" packaging they could have done with its color scheme and great care in how it was packaged.  I know it is on such a small scale, but if EVGA would change their public image, and packaging of their components they say, to have the EVBOT's package coloring and assembly, they would really be the 'bad-ass' products of the industry. I say this, because the EVGA GTX 780 Classified packaging I just got this week was pretty much low-key, white box, flimsy kind of thing.   And those of you with the EVBOT's box may think I am crazy for saying that - but, from a designer's perspective, it really is a cool theme they could recycle.

The original ariticle, which has the current firmware list on it:

http://www.evga.com/articles/00521/

Here's the promotional video that Jacob made (yep, that's Jacob popping in to explain it):

Good video showing how you REALLY SHOULD be using volt meters with pinouts with fracking with the EVBOT on your system - don't do it blindly and assume the voltage is what you want.  (Turn down the volume)

And a review... This one shows you how to flash new firmware (which you need to do for latest motherboard and GPUs).

"Opt Booster", that's the name I was thinking to boot up the CPU freq on a cycle.  He shows it in this review.

Thanks Jacob. I'm sure you've heard this before but you SERIOUSLY make EVGA's customer service one of the top(if not the top) in customer service. It seems like you always reply to customers questions focused towards EVGA products that only employees would know. I've worked in customer service and I'm not sure how you respond to all the questions. I vote EVGA should give you a raise! You alone have answered MANY rather technical questions I've had. Really, thanks though.

Back to the topic, since EVGA is out of stock the only other website I've found that still has them in inventory at the MSRP of $49.99 is performance-pcs. It seems that all the other sites that have them in stock have doubled the price...at one point even performance-pcs even had it listed at $199.99...HA! You guys better get them now if you want a new one.....Mine is currently on a cross country trip to me :-)

Re: Was the EvBot discontinued? 2013/11/17 06:33:39 (permalink)
Jacob mentioned in the Classified thread on OCN:

Our supplier that builds them requires a very high minimal order. We could order less, but the price would sky rocket.

So in other words, I'm guessing, but until there is 500 or 1000 people lined up to buy them, I don't thing another order would come in.

Here's an idea: contact Jacob to get the minimal order amount, and setup a Group Buy here or on OCN (more traffic there). I wouldn't ask for a discount for the group buy, since we all will pay the full price.

If you can the number of group buys to fill a certain percentage of minimal order (I'm thinking 75%?) then I don't see why EVGA wouldnt place another order with a number of people committed.

But that's part of the issue... That's a lot of people to line up and in my group buy experience, only about 1/2 pays anyways so most fall through. Maybe a Pre-Order to lock in the buys?

Point is, if you can get the community ralleyed enough, it can happen. And I think a group buy is the best approach for that.
