For the record, if anyone's interested, I have this Patriot RAM, 2 full kits of it (for a total of 4x2GB, 8GB altogether) installed on my EVGA 132-CK-NF78-A1 board, with stock BIOS, and it runs VERY stable.  No issues whatsoever.  I don't have anything OC'd however, the RAM is all at default voltage and timing settings (NOT the mobo's, the RAM's settings, which had to be manually adjusted in BIOS), etc., so I wouldn't know if it would cause any issues if I did (don't really care to OC honestly), but at stock (marked/labeled) voltage and timing settings, it runs fine.

Just as any other form of art, modding is a passion, not just a hobby.  We fawn over it, we love it, we hold it near and dear to our hearts, we are passionate about it.  We are modders, and we are artists.
Also, if you like any of the advice I give, please recommend I get a BR, thanks!

So far so good :)

1800MHz on 8-10-8-27 and slightly adjusted subtimings over auto values.
Only I am running them with p1p2 enabled and with T2 CR.

On advanced auto settings I wasn't able to boot T1 even after toggling p1p2 to auto, because of C1 error - memory controller. Will try again in a few days when I finish tigtening timings per Sean.

May lower the speed to 1600MHz and see if they can run T1 then using Bio's adjusted timings posted above..

Been away from forums for a long while. Just decided to do 4x2 with Patriot Sector 5 PGV34G2000ELK. Glad I saw this post. Taking the tRFC from 94 to 100 was what I needed to do. I saw that Gryphon recommended 110 but I felt since I was underclocking these sticks, I am running 1700 L/S that I would not need to go that far. Passes Intel Burn test, Memtest 4.20 3 passes and Prime has been running all day no problems so far. Before going to 100 Memtest passed no issues but prime would always stop on one worker usually #2.
I do have the CPU Core at 1.45v, CPU FSB 1.30v, SPP 1.40v MCP 1.550 (Lots of USB Stuff) and the Memory is stock voltage 1.65v.
I am going to try to back down on CPU Core but this Q9450 eats juice for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Even when had only 4gb memory. Had to run it at 1.475 when ran @1800 so I am not expecting it do lower much if at all. But I am glad that it appears to be stable now. Love this board and don't expect to upgrade for awhile. I see no point yet. I may just upgrade video card. That would give me more of a boost. Still have my 9800GX2 dual. Would love a GTX590 but may wait for the new 600 series.

Anyway thanks for the post and glad to see there are still some of us pluggin away on this board!

^ at 1700MHz you shouldn't need more than 1.25V on VTT (FSB voltage) and with some GTLVREF playing around you should be able to easily run it at 1.15V, that's what I have at 1800MHz now, fully stable

I also find it a must to run 1.55V on MCP, lots of USB stuff here too, if I run 1.50V then USB devices sometimes get quirky or my HDDs under load start causing weird things (sometimes even a BSOD).

as per vcore, well I wouldn't bother, probably what it gets now is what it needs to be fully stable. but by all means try lowering by 1 notch at a time and re-testing Intel Burn Test 2.51 in max stress mode (leave at least 200MB of free memory before starting test, e.g. by closing Firefox browser AFTER selecting Max Stress mode).

am too trying to find a way to buy 5 series card and replace my 2x 200 series SLI soon... cannot lower the SPP voltage with SLI enabled (or welcome hardlocks from time to time if I do now).

grats on getting 4 sticks stable

Got the VTT down to 1.25v. Tried to take it to 1.20v but no success on that. Happy to shave off this much. Thanks. Good suggestion. I revisited the rest of my voltages and timings and shaved off a little there as well.
Seems very stable. Thanks.

Loving the 8gb memory.  Even though the Patriot Sector 5 sticks I have are XMP not EPP (Intel not Nvidia) they work great. My last set were Patriot as well and they were EPP. I have not noticed any difference in behavior. I think if you spend time in researching your purchase and are willing to spend much time in your BIOS and in testing all will be well. This is a very good post because no matter what and how much you know you can always get something from this type of post. Glad it is a sticky.

When i put 4x2g vipers in my 680i , i had no idea there were problems...i've got my qx6850 oc to 3.5.  My machine booted right up no problems, however i do get bsod and hard locks only in bfbc2.  i took out 4 gigs and tried for a day to play, and same amount of crashes happened, so i don't know what the reason is.   The 680i has been a great board...alas it is time to upgrade soon as bf3 will be out.   I cant wait to see what evga does with the z68 series .....either z68 or a p67 .  Any thought would help

I did a few changes and have been testing real world work and gaming and love what this board can do that it was never designed to do. Others may not have loved the Nforce chipset but I have and have had several boards over the years with them. I was always sorry to see them go.

I managed to get the VTT stable at 1.20v from 1.25v which always gave me troubles. Got the Core down to 1.41250v from 1.45v.
2 sets of Patriot Sector 5 PGV34G2000ELK running at 8,9,9,24,2T
tRRD: 6, tRC: 36, tWR: 10, tWTR: 25, tFAW: 30, tREF 7.8uS, TRFC: 100. On P10 BIOS (Which has been my favorite so far).
1700 L/S

I am very happy with this! IBT tested 20 passes on Max.

Now all I need is a new video card and I am ready for Skyrim.

For whatever it's worth;

I went out and bought a whole wack of different 2x4GB kits to try on my 790i Ultra. Many of the kits I purchased seemed finicky and the computer behaved in a flakey unstable way with 2x4-8GB or RAM.
I ended up with some GSKILL Ripjaws 1866MHz 9-10-9 stuff that runs on 1.5V and its great. Using 1.4V SPP, 1.5V MCP and the stock 1.5V to run this RAM at 1800 linked and synced with my Q9650 sitting at 4.05GHz. P1 and P2 enabled. No freezes no glitches, been more stable than my old 2x2 Patriot Vipers ever were.

yes 2 4 g sticks is much more stable and less strain on the controller.Mushkin advised me of this and im so happy with the suggested memory they pointed out .Runs a tad slower (i mean really small diff in timing )and runs at a massively lesser amount of voltage .The ones Mushkin sold me on can be found on my Mods rig link to the left .Since changing over i have had 0 issues and use less voltage with the same performance

^same here, I bought Mushkin sticks (2000mhz rated which I used at 1800Mhz) soon after BHS and was very happy with them.

Since I was underclocking my sticks (tighter timings, same voltage) I did have to contact MushkinSean (technician over there) to get a full set of timings that run flawlessly 24/7 for 8 months non-stop... zero trouble.

the guys at Mushkin were so happy to walk me threw suggested timings and even while i test booted each one .spent like 10+ mins on phone with him.Great company with solid products and EVGA like support .Wish EVGA would do some Mushkin type giveaways in contests.

Yup, Mushkin is an amazing company with great support. Their techs also are very active on their their forums where you can get help as well ... that is if issue is not hot enough for an immediate phone call

I will personally keep using Mushkin Enhanced memory always on my desktops, I trust this memory sticks brand like no other, really. Also their pricing is much better than Corsair's or Patriot's.

or for the same price you can get 996990 rated 2000MHz 9-11-9-26 @ 1.65V

http://www.newegg.com/Pro...0226189&Tpk=996990

they can easily be underclocked to pretty much same settings as BHS has at 1600MHz, or 1800MHz (let me now, I can provide you with full working settings on 790 Ultra for that speed).

up to 1732MHz they run with COmmand Rate 1T, above that 790 chipset needs them to run 2T.

on Z68 FTW I run them now at 2133MHz with 9-11-10-28 1T @ 1.65V

Hi okay so i am a bit confused to what to do in order to get my 8GIG stick working...

i have a
Intel qx6850
790i sli FTW MOBO
and for ram which i am having the issue with is Crosshair (i think) 2GB, OCZ GOLD 2GB + 2GB, and now i recently got a Patriot 2GB stick as well so totallying in 8GB

Now i can't even log into windows, and i got a system disk error the first time i installed this last 2bg stick.. so now i am having to reinstal windows again, but i can't even go through with that, UNLESS i take of the last 2gb Patriot stick, then only i am able to instlal windows or log into windows.
Can some one please tell me a step to step guide to what my clock settings needs to be? I followed the guide on how to set the clock speed in bios etc, but i am having no success, i would really like go run 8gigs of ram in my PC.. but if i can't solve this issue i have to return my recent purchase of the patriot 2gb 1066hz stick back to the store with in 15days thx...

Yea I run the following kit when i build the machine way back then. Running 8gb at the recommended configuration from mushkin. Extremely stable haven't had any issues since 2008. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820146785

When you put it in the mobo itll have the wrong speed and timings. You have to configure it manually to the ones mushkin provides. So mine is running at 1066.
