So today i decided to upgrade from a GTX 780 to a GTX 980 Ti.  There are not many options in Miami if you want to make a purchase in person.  I opted for my only available option which is TigerDirect in FLAGLER here in Miami.  EVGA is having a promotion that when you purchase their card you get a code for Metal Gear Solid V.  Tiger-Direct has this listed on their webpage, yet they are not honoring it. The manager in the store had no idea what i was talking about and then brushed me off and said to contact EVGA and get it from them.  EVGA says unless you order it directly off their site, you have to get it from the reseller.  In short i was given the run around and did not receive my code.  I implore anyone who may read this to NOT make the same mistake i made & DO NOT support these people.  Make your purchase elsewhere or on this website if possible.  I do not appreciate being stolen from, but that is apparently what has happened.  I would also suggest that EVGA remove Tiger-Direct from their re-sellers page, but i know that will be to much to ask.  I also pray to the Computer GOD in the sky to open a MicroCenter or FRYs here in Miami so that TigerDirect can completely go bankrupt and leave this city once and for all.

Try contacting the support center at the link below, there is a selection for retail store purchases. Explain the situation thoroughly, probably your only chance to get the code.

Thanks Pgcmoore.  Will check them out now.  I also wrote the CEO of TigerDirect, but he will probably twist his nipples when he reads it.

You have to be careful with Tigerdirect dealt with their store here, and very meh they even have a fake network/web pages so when you go in they can try to get out of a price match...

shame really, CompUsa used to be a nice place to shop before on-line retailers
but that was early 90's....late 80's

Yeah, back in the day CompUSA was great.  They had one close to Dadeland mall here and i would always use it to upgrade parts.  It's a sad state of affairs how things have declined so much.  TigerDirect now serves as a reminder of why competition is good and monopolies suck.  As it stands their only competition down here is BestBuy and that's not saying much.  For enthusiasts and DIY techies, we are stuck with these clowns here in Miami.  Luckily, the last computer i built was a couple years back and its running great.  Just got bit by the upgrade bug when i saw the GTX 980 Ti and decided to future proof for when i finally pull the switch and get the Acer Predator XB270HU.  Plus, i took a break from The Witcher 3 and i plan to get back in this week.  Also looking forward to fire up GTAV again and install the ENB series mod.  Going to sell the GTX 780 on Craigslist and hopefully make a couple hundred off of that.  This is my first EVGA card (GeForce GTX 980 Ti Super-clocked ACX 2.0+) and aside from my experience with TigerDirect, I am very pleased.

Tiger Direct is a joke. Even their online store.

When promised 2-day shipping it took a week and I ordered on Monday.

When you buy electronic gift cards they snail-mail you them anyways... and you dont get the electronic gift cards till about 4 days later.

My past 3 purchases from them ever have been nothing but problems. Forever a NewEgg person for electronics. I learned its best to wait if its out of stock than to order from TD.

Sorry to hear that.  It seems their deceptive practices are not just limited to stealing promo-codes for their employees.  I've always liked the ability to purchase my electronics in person simply for the reason that i can drive up to the store if something goes wrong & i don't have to worry about FED-EX or UPS practicing their MMA skills on my purchase.  I ordered a PlayStation 4 last year from AMAZON and when the box arrived it looked like ZomBeavers mistook it for a log.  I lucked out that everything was fine inside.  However i wasn't so lucky with an office chair which arrived with a broken caster base.  Its the luck of the draw with these places and i get a fuzzy feeling in my stomach every time i have to order something online.  That's why i liked the convenience of purchasing my computer parts in person.  I guess i just have to get with the times since brick & mortar stores are going in the same direction as Betamax.

I would definitely say something about your UPS/FedEx drop off person.

I ordered my Asus PB278Q and the box came in near pristine condition... For the majority of my purchases it's UPS and only one box actually looked like it took a beating and it happened to be clothes.

Update-
Apparently writing to the CEO has got me in touch with the right person.  I explained the situation to him and he is looking into it.  He apologized and told me he had no idea he had people like Cloiselle working there.  In his defense, he did say he hired the mentally challenged and that he was going to look into it to make sure i received the code.

Same issue happened with me at the SAME Tiger Direct with my 980 during the Witcher 3/Arkham Knight promotion! I literally had to call them for 3-4 days straight. The employee had no idea regarding the promotion and looked at me as if I was crazy even though it was clearly on their website. Eventually they told me to scan and email them a picture of my invoice and they just emailed me the codes.

September 1 is still quite a way off.  I'm dealing with their B2B sales rep at the moment & waiting till Monday before i reestablish contact.  As per our discussion the general consensus is it will be sent between 5 to 7 days.

I hope you receive the code. I personally wouldn't return to them.. but that's just me. As a Key Holder to a Retail store...I don't see how they aren't informed. At my job we get told what will arrive in a month from now when sales are, and the likes before everyone else is (General Public). I'm sure its like that with them to being how big they are. Those issues tho are reasons why TD is going primarily Online and closing all their anchor shops.

I know I may be very late to this, but the MGS-V promo is from NVidia, not EVGA. That may have caused confusion, since I noticed it was said a few times that EVGA was giving this promotion. TD employees may have played the "dumb card" when you referred to the wrong entity offering the promo just because they can.

I wish nvidia would just give me $60 in steam credit instead to buy an actual good game. I just bought a 980ti and got that promotion. It looks like a horrible and sexist pos. I would give the code away but 1) I do not want to pad stats in them showing someone installed the game so they boost sales numbers 2) I am only into my new card like a week so I am not sure if it has any issues to return it for another if needed (working great thus far). Even though I think mgs is terrible and should not exist, op should get a promo code for this as it was promised. You might want to contact nvidia since they bought the codes. Also I have had some bad issues dealing with tiger support with a products that was 2 weeks late. It was offshore support and they did not care. I mean they have to keep profits high I guess so the ceo can make up for his shortcomings in life with money.

More on the making a certain game part of the deal, what if the user does not want it or if the game is trash or if it makes the user sick. I bought a 970 ssc during the batman thing and another during the witcher thing. I would have rather had an amd like deal were you could choose. Witcher is terribly written , sexist, and racist, and earlier versions were homophobic enough for me to boycott the stupid studio that made them. And on the batman thing, while it looks neat, the game just does not run well and would have rather had something that ran well.

shame really, CompUsa used to be a nice place to shop before on-line retailers
but that was early 90's....late 80's

WOW... I remember going into the CompUSA we had here all the time. I went in there enough to know everyone by name and was ALWAYS treated with Respect!!

I wouldn't buy a stick of gum from TD. Had some bad experiences with them in case you cant tell. They are closing all of their stores except three from what I heard. The only stores it's keeping open are its flagship store in Miami along Flagler Street, one in its technology products distribution center in Georgia and one in Puerto Rico.

yep,  I had only one trip to a TD store on my way home from work once. I had no idea they had even changed the "name" on the building until I got there. Went in to find a cheap PSU for a client build (I used to and still love the Ultra X-4 PSU's you could get there). Did not find one, but picked up "ONE" item, a DVI to HDMI cable that was on sale. I think I was the only customer in the store. And not one employee offered assistance (I hate that anyway, but it is nice to see someone try) when I was there. But after checking out, an employee who was less than 3 feet away from the registers when I paid with a credit card, "stopped me", wanted to look at my receipt and check  it against the one item in the bag (for 4-5 min.). I then went directly to the customer service counter and returned the item. This was about 3-4 years ago, but it was my LAST experience with them! As you would expect,,

but gone are these days, but some good memories are still there....
