fud. how many people here or any other forum actually have issues? there will always be a handful of people that will blame the drivers for whatever happens to their card or system. if this was a legitimate problem then we would have more reports since its been over 2 weeks.

I disregarded the article as soon as I seen the "fix". What a mess and completely wrong how to uninstall drivers. My card has been fine with these drivers so far.

My 670 was working perfectly fine and was working fine after I installed the 320.18. BUT recently I have noticed bad artifacting in BF3 after a bit of gameplay. Metro 2033 and LL also suffer artifacting and crashing now. So I can vouch that these drivers are messing something up.

The link he cited was from 'some random person'.  Oh after reading that link, no wonder. You essentially posted the same thing base on a couple of complaints which are not out of the ordinary for just about every driver release and cite 'random internet guy' too.

You can use them by modifying the driver .inf file to add the GTX 7XX hardware information to the driver.  There is a thread on the procedure at GURU3D...

Ridiculous!

While there certainly may be users have issues with this driver, it NOT killing anyones GPU

What we are seeing here is NVIDIA DRIVER INSTALL ERRORS
If you read the first link, the recovery posted is not only the stupidest driver uninstall procedure, it is of course completely WRONG. The author appears to know NOTHING about correctly Uninstalling Nvidia drivers,  correct Nvidia driver install method and Windows 8 behavior.

Wake up people
You DO NOT use a -default- Nvidia driver "EXPRESS" install -ever-
These issues are being caused by users who have installed the GeForce Experience and/or are NOT correctly shutting down Precision and the RTSS service before installing drivers.

People who use CORRECT procedure by shutting down Precision/Afterburner and the RTSS -AND- who did not install the GeForce Experience in the first place....
-->are NOT REPORTING ANY PROBLEMS AT ALL  -none-zero-

Turn off Precision and the RTSS -before installing drivers- and ONLY use a CUSTOM Mode install with GeForce Experience and Nvidia Update UNCHECKED
And always put a check mark in "Perform a clean install"

The RTSS.exe process is an additional file, which is a monitoring/over-clocking application.  It's not essential to the computer system performance.

If you guys don't believe me that these drivers cause cards to get damaged, then thats your choice, the link I gave does have evidence that it is happening, its all over OCN, Guru3d, and Nvidia's forum as well.

This isn't the first time this has happened either, the 196.75 drivers had a simalar issue back then

There are not any reports of fans stopping using this driver. So no, this is not a 'similar' issue. You're certainly right, it's our choice. As far as I know, there are a few unverified reports of GPU's being damaged. And yes, I do pay attention to OCN, Nvidia forum, here, Guru3D etc etc.

Re:WARNING: 320.18 Drivers are Killing GPU's 2013/06/09 21:44:11 (permalink)
In my experience with Nvidia cards going back to my first with 16mb of memory....

I just dont see this driver causing hardware damage
*With stock vBIOS's, the only way such thing could occur is if voltage regulation or fan control was effected.
If this -was- the case, this forum would be FILLED with screaming users and the driver would have been pulled.
-->The total number of users posting with issues does not appear to be higher than normal...

Much more likely is that this driver, with its new installer and default express Geforce Experience/.Net 4.0 install is simply causing errors due to either user install error/background conflicts/game bugs

That and the fact that so many more people are using Precision/Afterburner and the RTSS, who have not bothered to read the release notes and tooltips and no idea how the program functions...

Right now if you do a default "express" Nvidia driver install -and- install Precision/Afterburner/RTSS...
You are setting yourself up for these kinds of issues...

I really am going to have to place alot of blame on Nvidia, as there should be a running program/injector check during install that will abort the install and ask you to shut down such programs before proceeding....

And the GeForce Experience appears to have undergone some background updating and possibly begun causing serious problems for many users...
This is NOT a surprise given how the program functions

^^^^ the geforce experience software could be the culprit, cause 320.18 is the first to include it. 314.22 and older doesn't have it.

That is probably it. I highly doubt it is the drivers themselves. I would not know for sure, because I didn't install that useless software.

How would the Geforce Experience be causing this? I had it installed at one point and it just changes game settings. It is absolutely useless for an experienced PC user, but it should not be causing the death of cards. Could it be that some users cards are just dying?

"And the GeForce Experience appears to have undergone some background updating and possibly begun causing serious problems for many users...
This is NOT a surprise given how the program functions"

This is because the GeForce Experience is granted full Admin access and is able to write entries -directly- into a games config file...

Its a great idea (settings values aside, that I have issues with) but the REAL problem is when the game is patched, like BF3 recent End Game update which CHANGED the config file layout and values (this will be the 9th patch that I am aware for that has done so).

So it may be that the GeForce Experience is writing INCORRECT entires/values that do NOT match with the latest patch.
If Nvidia did NOT update the GFE with these changes, this would certainly explain the BF3 texture issues and the chagne in the coding for Monitor Hz coding -could possibly- do some hardware damage (I dont know if this is the case)

I just ran into this problem last week, where I had the user open the .prof save config file to check something, and his entries/values were completely incorrect. His config file format did NOT match the latest patches version.....

Should the GeForce Experience team have not been aware -BEFORE- the patch -OR- not bothered to patch the Nvidia side after, the Geforce experience will write INCORRECT and IMPROPERLY FORMATTED DATA into that file...

That, would explain alot

If your current BF3 config file does NOT exactly match the format below or contains "extra" entires...
YOU HAVE A PROBLEM, as the recent patch -changed- some value codes and formats

Normally I would PM you my number...

But I have recently received death threats to both myself, my wife and my children
While this user has had multiple accounts banned, at this time I am not giving my number out to anyone who was not a member of these forums before June 2 2013

I am sorry but your account was created after that date, please call EVGA's 24/7 free Tech support line for assistance
