The *Club i7 Stability Continuation* by SimC33(EVGA X58 SLI Series) is" NOT an an official Evga or Nividia listing" according to EVGA_JacobF.
The Results of Rigs listing has not been updated by SimC33 since September 12, 2010! It is defunct!

EVGA_JacobF told me I was "free to copy that information and make a new thread..." I am NOT going to make a new thread, but I know posting overclocking results are important to geeks like me. Maybe a fellow geek would like to start a new results listing.
I want to thank SimC33 for his efforts in the past for maintaining the *Club i7... *.
I have updated my copy of LinX for my 980x  and am working on 4.500 to4.600 MHz with a Super Mega and "modded"  HAF-X case.
Have a good day forum members and watch the ambient temperature.

I do not have the time to update a thread like this, nor would i want the hassle, But I do have a recomendation, The
4+ Club i7 Stability Thread was started at a time when all people had to work with was 920 C0's latter D0's, and the 965;  Subsaquently, it was a much smaller, and easier to update thread. Due to improved I-7's and the newer boards, whoever takes this over may want to consider making it a 4.5 and over stability thread, so the mark will retain it's prestage, and stay small enough to be managable.
    ( Just a thought)
Going from 2.6 to 4.0 was a considerable accomplishment, I'm not trying to put any body down, but going from 3.3 to 4.0, isn't that big of a deal. ( just saying)

Yes, KenMoore4318 I agree with you. The new thread would have to be very limited in scope. Someone might call it the 4.500Mhz Prestige Results for the 980x. Another forum member might create the 4.500Mhz SandyB i7-2600K  Results .  I believe Extreme Systems and/or Overclocking.net have/ has such a forum. I would recommend a one year commitment with regular or monthly updates.
Does anyone know if the 980x is being updated or replaced in the third quarter of this year?

Yep, especially with sand bridge chips hitting 5.0ghz on air now lol

The Sandy Bridge cpus are hitting 5.0Ghz on air! A $300 chip!
Man, this is not fair----I bought a 980x several months ago for $1000  and overclocked  it to 4.5Ghz with 20x LinX stress testing-----then read in one of Evga threads that LinX needed to be updated with Intel Linpack-----this update raised my cpu temps at 4.5Ghz  about  5C  under 100% load----so I went back to 4.3Ghz and did some tweaking----now my build is  stable at 4.4Ghz ----- I am going to reinstall  all of my Noiseblocker case fans and move to 4.5Ghz-4.6Ghz range again in the next few weeks.

Clock means nothing these days really... CPU GFlops are more meaningful imho. I've seen a fellow evga forums member hit 5.3+GHz OC and get 80 GFlops with lastest Linpack binaries, while I get 81GFlops same binaries, 4.28GHz, on air (80°C max), but with cutting edge memory tweaking. I'm curious how much GFlops a 2600K @5Ghz can pull...

Thank you haazhel  for the informative response.Because of your post, I am going to download the  CPUID Hardware Monitor Pro utility and try it with my tweaking of  the 980x. And I am also going to pay more attention to my memory settings and GFlops while  moving toward  4.6GHz.

Yea... CPU core frquency is pretty much e-penis... But it's only one parameter in a system that count dozens of them... Reaching high performance isn't just about punching the Core MHz Up button. I don't have premium DDR3 memory, but i know i'm getting the most of it. What's the use of having 2000MHz uber rated memory if you don't get the most out of it? Personally, i'd use 2000MHz memory @1600 and tighten timings to the max... It yields much better results overall than just having the pure MHz bump... Don't ever forget LGA1366 cpu are rated @1066/1333 Mhz memory, going beyond that nets marginal gains. Tweaking settings should be much more effective. IMHO.

    Ok I'll do it.

What do you think about this as the tread title "X58 4.2Ghz+ Stability Club"?

Need someone to make a signature pic for it.

Keep in mind the lower you set the bar, the more work there will be for you, because the more people that will meet it, as more people pick up 980, or 990 CPU's the more of a cake walk meeting the goal will become, and the more people you will have e-mailing or PMing you asking why you have not updated the post, I'm not trying to talk you out of anything, just making sure you know what your gitting into.

Again, associating Core clock to GFlops output would filter those snapping in an unlocked CPU and rising multiplier from those optimizing the whole system. Anyone can reach 4+GHz these days. But it's another story to get very high GFlops output, imho...

I would set specific days for stats updates. Like in the evenings on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. There would be no need for anyone to pm for a status update. As for the Ghz goal... if 4.4Ghz is what you guys want, then that will be it. I will have to say 4.4Ghz does put more of an elite status to the goal.

I'm sure that forum member you were speaking of was me, but you must also consider I was running 4 cards with that setup which is taking much of the memory and bandwith. Now that I just have one in my computer I'll run one and see what happens. I was running on the old linx setup, but I need the link to download whatever needs be for the binaries. I mean not to take anything from you 81gflops is great I only averaged 79 with a max of 80.
