At EK website i noticed they have listed 3 versions of 980 ti Classified: 06G-P4-0998 06G-P4-3997 06G-P4-4998 Does anyone know what`s the difference between them? Ps. I hope original Classy`s backplate is compatible with EK`s waterblock, is it?

I received a 0998 the other day - it runs at Classified speeds and has no backplate (which I really like because the backplate can get in the way). The 3997 is a Classified that runs at Reference speeds and has a backplate. More than likely the Reference speeds are because it can't overclock very well, and can't run at the Classified speeds. The 4998 also runs at Classified speeds, and has a backplate. I've no idea about the backplate and EK waterblock compatibility.

Be wary as there is also *4997 that uses Reference speeds as well, don't confuse it with *4998 the "true" Classified!

I've been reading a lot of conflicting information on the differences between the 4998 and 0998. I've heard the 0998 uses an older, ACX 2.0 cooler as opposed to the ACX 2.0+ cooler with a different heatpipe design on the 4998. This is despite EVGA listing the 0998 as ACX 2.0+ units; people in this camp believe it's a mislabeled spec. If you look at the coolers themselves, they appear to be quite different, at least aesthetically. 0998 - http://www.evga.com/Products/Specs/GPU.aspx?pn=3F054106-54BA-44F7-B308-2CB0EA733DE64998 - http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=06G-P4-4998-KR 0998 Differences: - No backplate included - Brown box packaging (instead of retail) - ACX 1.0 Shroud (still uses 2.0+ fans/heatsink) - No faceplate LED - Inability to turn off BIOS LED Would be nice to have some clarification on this product. Thanks!

The 0998 cooler is rounded at the end of the card by the looks of it, compared to the square end of the 4998. I can't find any concrete statements either for the cooler version used on the 0998.. I've just always made sure I get the 4998 when I ordered my card's.

0998 use the same shroud as the 780/780ti classified. That was ACX, but not 2.0. I think the 2.0 implementation is actually the zero fan speed at idle.

Thanks for the info, you're right about the shroud. However, ACX 2.0 fans do have 11 blades vs. 9 on 1.0, so I think it's safe to say the fans are 2.0. However the question of 2.0 vs. 2.0+ plus remains a mystery. I've been told the 2.0+ coolers have a straight heat pipe design and a cooling plate for VRMs, so that may be a little tricky to find out without disassembling the card. I've edited my post above to reflect the "new" findings.

I happen to have my 0998 Classified's heatsink off to use an AIO instead. They look fairly straight to me (and there are 11 blades per fan), yet here is a photo:

Perfect! Thank you so much! Looks identical to the heatsink from the classified 2.0+: http://www.hardwareasylum..._classified/page3.aspx
