Dear EVGA , yesterday my 1080 FTW literally exploded while i was playing a game as usual! As it seems its the common problem with the VRM's. I submitted yesterday my RMA request on the EVGA.eu site but yet no answer or no email....

Why submit an RMA? I would call them and ask to speak with a supervisor - but that's just me. See this thread for EVGA's reply.

Remember a while back some forum patrons (possibly moderators, as well) confidently suggesting that nothing was wrong with the GTX 1070/1080 series EVGA produced? And the FurMark stress test Guru3D performed was beyond usual strain these cards would be subjected to? And now we have people actually insisting that only a handful of cards have blown up/caught fire. Say, 10 as opposed to 30. And to the guy who asked me why I felt the need to post on an EVGA forum about the ROG Strix I am buying instead of EVGA's crippled alternative...THIS is why. Do your research, people. Hasty purchases lead to salt and Kleenex.

The 1080 FTW cards had some issues with some VRM IC's being out of spec. I bet the OP's card is one of the cards that is affected by one of those defective VRM IC's.

That was something unforgivable for 800E ! And be sure that the next time that i am going to buy a GPU i will seriously consider to do it from EVGA . Especially if you are not fast and reliable on the RMA!

Yeah I'm beginning to worry too. More and more of these post are popping up so how many cards will be burned up within the next year? First they were talking about the furmark extreme cases which was understandable but in normal gaming this shouldn't happen. The lifespan of the components has been greatly reduced if cards already are failing. Not sure what I should fell about having a ticking bomb in my computer and the slow/no response in thermalpads doesn't help either.

Greece is part of the EU and you're covered by EU-wide Consumer Protection laws. EVGA Germany and UK is for the whole EU, so you can call either number and get someone helpful who will be able to deal with the issue.

So evga know that there are problems (as you told) with 1080ftw and don't recall the cards? Why you wait to recall the cards and cause us damage to other parts of our systems! On the thermal pads section is an optional for us that we have the cards to install but from factory from now on come with the pads, next some vrm ic's issues with 1080ftw, overshight at gamernexus, next what come? Support is good to try find solution BUT this approach of the problem to not recall the cards we have in ours computers and exhange with brand new (not refurbished) or a full refund is unaccetptable. Never again evga

z1nonly http://www.gamersnexus.net/guides/2691-final-evga-vrm-thermal-torture-test-and-analysis Please see the testing done by gamersnexus. Failures happen, but the temperatures are not the cause.
Good Reading; It's clear to us, at this point, that there's no thermal issue with EVGA's cards. Any defects we're seeing are being caused by other factors, like workmanship or manufacturing defects. If you have a problem, contact EVGA -- but it's probably not being caused by thermals, and it does still seem like the internet has amplified these occurrences to a point where it sounds worse than it is in reality. Thanks

I use 1070 FTW. I'm expecting a thermal pad to be in for 4 weeks. Sorry, but if you do not send in the near future, it will be filled with burned cards. What are you still waiting for? Let's open the RMA and return the card. We have been patient for over a month. Now hold your Evga hand quickly and start submissions. We will disassemble the cards and install them again. Thank you!
