So I have been watching the VR scene ever since Palmer Luckey began crowd sourcing the oculus rift and I even got to try out an HTC Vive at a local Gamestop several months ago.  I decided that I want to go room scale and get the HTC Vive but of course my spare bedroom that I have my PC in was not going to cut it.  My wife and I have been working on renovating our sun room to convert to a dedicated VR room.  It is almost complete at this point, here are some pics or our work so far.  I anyone has good ideas to incorporate, I'm all ears.

The previous owner of the house added the sunroom several years ago now and due to poor design the floor was unstable.  not long after we bought the house the floor had caved in due to water draining underneath.  Not to mention the was an armadillo that moved in under the flooring.  We had to completely gut the floor.

That looks to be a lot of work, but nice job fixing up the room! That definitely has to increase the property value. And you're doing all that work for a VR room?

Quite a project. That's too bad the floor wasn't caught in the home inspection. Have you addressed the drainage issue, so it won't cause any more damage? Hope you enjoy your new area. :)

I did actually catch it in the home inspection, I got the house for $35k less than the asking price (the AC had to be replaced as well, among other things).  The drainage has been addressed.

Well the VR is my priority as a PC gamer but we will throw a bar, couch, tv and drink fridge in there as well at some point

Those who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.

Glad to hear you guys were interested!  So I bought 760 SqFt of ceramic tile 12"x24" $1.5/SqFt. I've managed two full days tiling between working night shift.  Also sheet rocking the wall, we are going to paint the room too.  I have a custom loop and I need to figure out what vid card im gonna get for the VR.  Any thoughts?  I'm noticing Elite Dangerous and a few other VR games are upping the supersampling to make images more defined.  Takes more Vram.

That will be really nice when finished, thanks for the progress report. Lots of work ,but it is shaping up. What's your budget on the GPU upgrade? I would suggest a 1080 if the budget allows. Brad is very knowledgeable on the subject for sure.

I will def get at least a 1080.  My problem is that i have a custom loop and need the hydrocopper to come out but no ETA and its way late already.  I could go with the MSI EK 1080 but i really wanted a hydrocopper.  I mean if I have to put a waterblock on I may just go for the Titan.

Being in the construction biz for over 37 years in the northeast, I often smack myself upside the head for not living in warm weather climates. Ouch, there I go again.
