srilankan okay, I able to run folding on 7 cores, but I unable to get HFM to recognize it to monitor. Everytime I enter the url, its says does not exist. I can go into my browser and enter url and setup shows up. How can I fix this? Edit:Same with Fahmon. You will need to use the following for HFM: \\IP\fah Replace IP with the IP assigned to the VM.

I would probably say to keep the CPU at 7-threads so that one is available for the GPU. This should help maximize production.

If it ain't broke then don't touch it When CC is over then experiment. LR is right, your best bet is to fold across 7 logical cores with one dedicated to GPU folding. For the rest of the Chimps Challengers that read this, we are only days away, please don't tweak your machines for extra points when it comes to bigadv since if you drop a WU then it will not be worth it.

Quick question. I start folding again. Haven't done it in a yr and only started again for CC but once you start the addiction picks up again. So my old id has no -bigadv. What the quickest way to start getting bonus for bigadv? I really don't want to fold 10 -bigadv because they take around 3 days before I start getting bonuses. My TPF is around 33-35mins

you can fold 10 A3s first, just use -advmethods instead of -bigadv Should only take 2 or 3 days to qualify for the bonus

I hate to bug you linuxrouter, but as you're the linux guru here... I seem to have broken my VM image. Whn I start it I get this: "err, eth0 ioctl SIOCGIFHWADDR: No such device. stty: standard input: Inappropriate ioctl for device Device eth0 does not exist" It doesn't matter if I used the default "Bridge" or switch to NAT, and I've restarted the VM a few times. The VM is completely offline and inaccessible. I'd start a clean image instead of bothering you, but it's almost done with a Bigadv work unit. Is there a simple fix or should I copy the F@H files to a new VM image?

The udev rule for the network interface has to be reset for the network to work again otherwise the network port gets assigned to eth1 instead of eth0. Try the following: rm /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules reboot

That is strange, as I have not moved the VM image files or location. I did disable the unused LAN port in the BIOS, but that's the only thing I can think of that might potentially be related? Thank you for your quick help, that command did fix it.

I have not tried this myself though. Glad to hear you are up and running again.

Okay, so I enabled the output to display in the VMware window with "tail -f fah-out.log". Once I do this though, how do I enter system commands again? It seems like once I enabled progress output it's not accepting any system commands. Is it possible to enter commands with the progress output being displayed?

You can also hit ALT+F2 to open a new console. ALT+F1 takes you back to the main console.

Um... are there any more -bigadv units? The VMware player is telling me "The system is going down to maintenance mode NOW!" What does this mean?

I do not think I have seen this before. Is this a message the folding client is sending out? Well, I restarted it and it seemed to be going, but it looks like it started with a new work unit now. So I setup for 1 work unit and have it reboot and it says: ls: cannot access work/wudata_01.xxx tar: <never mind it rebooted> Now it says cp: cannot stat 'work/wudata_01.xxx' It looks like my work unit got lost. :-( Oh well, I guess I'll start a SMP2 -advmethods unit instead.

Do you have the backup option enabled? If so, maybe try a restore in the console: fahrestore 1

You have to stop the folding client, run the restore, and then start the folding client again. If you have auto-startup enabled, try this instead: fahcontrol restore 1

That is odd. I have not seen those stale nfs file handle messages before. Try rebooting the VM and system and restore an older backup. fahcontrol stop reboot After startup: fahcontrol restore 4

That looks better. Now check the folding log to see what percent the work unit is running at. tail -f fah-out.log
