Hello, Just wanted to make sure I'm doing this right.

I'm upgrading from a GTX280 to GTX570.

I just remove my old drivers from the 280 with Drive Sweeper like 3D vision, Graphics Driver, PhysX and Install the new Video card then Update it to the newest Drivers online and I'm ready to rock n roll?

Anyone got any other easier steps on updating video card drivers? I always remove the driver in Device Manger then Reboot into safe mode and use driver sweeper reboot again and update the card with the new driver. Seems like the fastest and right way to clean a old driver off your computer.

Any help would be great. Thanks

i remove them from the control panel, then boot in safe mode and run driver sweeper. But I'm sure doing it from the device manager works fine.

Thanks, Is there anyway to disable automatic download of the driver in Windows 7? I gotta do all this work to disable automatic driver update then enable it again so I can update the driver. Any other option where I can disable it so I can pick the driver I want to download and install

Download the driver of choice and unplug your machine from the internet. Works for me.

To disable the automatic driver installation in Windows 7 all you need to do is go to your start menu and in the "search" box type gpedit.msc then press enter. That will bring up the "Local Group Policy Editor". From in there use the box on the left and navigate to:

Computer Configuration / Administrative Templates / System / Driver Installation

Once there, on the box on the right now open "Turn Off Windows update device driver search prompt" and set it to "Enabled" and click OK. Then you will have to restart your PC but now Windows will no longer attempt to auto install drivers for hardware.

Note: This does not disable the updates for Windows like patches or security updates, it only disables the service that auto installs device drivers.

If later you wish to re enable this feature just follow the same steps and instead of the "enabled" box you checked, just click disabled and once again after a reboot Windows will now attempt to install driver automatically.
