I liked that evga or someone explains to me
I had to test the bios slave in 1080FTW. The original bios Slave, had the fans at 20%, now the new bios has the fans to 15% .. ****? I made a small test 3dmark with the original ran the test stock with 54 ° C temperature, fan climbed the 34/35% - 1050rpm + - After I updated the bios, and was again run 3dmark, ran with higher temperatures, I got 61ºC, with fans coming to 31%.
That is worse than the original bios, not to mention that in idle is is warmer because the fans go to 15% and not 20%.
if the curve is the most aggressive when temperatures are higher ?! , Can not methyl Furmark yet, but at least in games it seems to me that will leave the hottest graphical (since not enough to rise much of 61ºC the fan does not fire for RPM values higher in consequence the VRM will floor warmer.
It seems that the new bios, only works on stress tests / Furmark But as soon as possible, do more tests sorry my english

Im not entirely sure but this could be related to them increasing the overall max RPM which from what ive gathered they have done. What im saying is that if the maximum RPM is increased 15% may be the same or higher than 20% in the former VBIOS depending on the change.

Hi all, tested the new Master BIOS for the 1080 Classified. I did a simple comparison with the original one. Hope it helps you to decide... Original BIOS Master (86.04.17.00.80) GPU °C / Fan% / Fan_RPM 62 / 0 / 0 63 / Fan start to spin 68 / 18 / 500 69 / 19 / 525 70 / 20 / 565 71 / 22 / 600 73 / 26 / 700 74°C is max temp New BIOS Master (86.04.3B.00.82) GPU °C / Fan% / Fan_RPM 52 / 0 / 0 53 / Fan start to spin 60 / 22 / 600 61 / 29 / 960 63 / 33 / 1100 64 / 35 / 1180 64°C is max temp Important: As I am using an Prolimatech MK26 cooler the temps compared to the original ACX3 cooler are different! The good thing is that the fans begin to spin already at 53°C instead of 63°C. The bad thing is, the curve is too aggressive / loud for my purpose... I am waiting for the thermal pads and after applying them I will go back to the original master BIOS which is more silent...

1070 FTW here (July build). Didn't have any problems. Flashed both bioses tonight for the sake of it. Easy. Gpu temp down from 74 to 65. Max RPM circa 1200. Dont honestly notice any significant difference in noise. Don't have any problems after flashing now either. Happy.
Will do the thermal mod as well because I like tinkering :).
Having read this entire thread I'm just astounded at some people's lack of perspective.

BIOS updates on 1060 ACX3 cards will not be necessary, we will have the optional thermal pads for some SKU's so please stay tuned.

Could you clarify your question some more? What do you mean two updates? EDIT: If you mean the VBIOS update (update) and Thermal Pad Modification (physical GPU modification) you can find much of the information in this thread and specifically in the main post. I was deciding between FTW AC3.0 vs Classified but couldn't really see any benefit on the Classified, whats better on this? I'm doing a RMA so i could ask for CF if its better but i dont see it myself.

I did the update and now the idle temp on one of the 1080s went up 10 degrees. Before they both sat at 36-39c. Now one is at 45-50c idle. Any idea what could be the problem?

relevance installed new vBIOS and thermal pads that EVGA provided. it was very quick. longest time was to remove the LED power pins (fat fingers :D). my idle temp was 42C w/ 0 RPM before. now its 34C with 30% fan speed when idled. I've also checked to see if VRAMs gaps are there, but no. overall, it was a simple task.. it takes shorter times to do it yourself then making a request for RMA, literally. but EVGA is offering a lot of choices for you whatever is convenient for you. yeah, we shouldn't really have to do any of these, but what can we really do.. I think I'll set my fan control to aggressive for now see it plays.
Thanks, I was wondering about the pads. Glad to read to read your post. I already did vBios - very easy to do. But to be safe I will do both "mods," pads and vBios.

Sure, i'm fine with that, as you said everyone have the right to do whatever he like, not complaining about it either, do i? You did the fixes and yet i don't remember saying anything about it...and for sure have nothing to say about it, freedom of choice right.

fightinfilipino so i received my thermal pad kit in the mail yesterday. this was after requesting the fix on Oct. 26. considering that these needed to be ordered and cut to size, not a bad turnaround. i installed the pad mod last night. took 30 minutes, and part of that was me looking around for coffee filters to clean off the old TIM. if you build machines, the install is easy as pie. the most difficult part was getting the hard to reach fan and LCD header plugs off. you just have to be patient with these. i actually was happy for the excuse to redo the TIM on the GPU. VRAM pads appear to be in full contact with the midplate btw. i'm posting this in part because i'm tired of all the FUD getting slung around here. the fix is simple; if you don't want to do it, request an RMA exchange. -a happy EVGA customer

You said the gaps are not there after the pads. Thanks. This was something I wanted to know. Seems things are getting sorted out now. Wish non of this had happened of course, but yeah, crap happens - that's life! Importantly EVGA seem to have the right solutions. I am kind of relieved. Just waiting on the pads. Thanks to those who posted about pad installation procedure and results. As already said, I flashed the new bios, and it was worth it. If the pads work well (which I am now sure they will) then this sorry story will slowly die down. I hope so anyway - I got eye strain just reading so many pages of posts! Whatever, confidence is being restored.

Out of curiosity, have you tried the secondary BIOS that was posted today, as well? For the FTW models, we have both an updated primary and secondary BIOS to account for the change in fan speed.

If I understand your question correctly, the first update was EVGA acknowledging the reviews showing the higher temperature, discussing our own internal testing, and providing the optional Thermal Pad Mod. The latest update expanded the list of cards, explains that we found a means to address temperatures via a simple VBIOS update, and other options we are providing to our customers to ensure you feel comfortable running the card. So, another way to say it is that the newer update expanded the list of cards and expanded the number of solutions to address concerns.

The update from yesterday is the VBIOS update for 08G-P4-6173. Since there is only a single BIOS chip on the 1070 SC, there will not be a secondary BIOS update for that card.
