and why not just use afterburner to slide your voltages up instead of flashing?

pgmoney and why not just use afterburner to slide your voltages up instead of flashing? Because with the default BIOS, the maximum voltage you can set is 1.087. With this BIOS, you can set up to 1.212v.

HeavyHemi It's extremely simple. All you do is extract the contents of both files in a folder on your C drive. Say nvflash for example. So 1) Create nvflash folder on C drive 2) extract nvflash program files and BIOS rom file into the folder. 3) Using the Windows start button, select run type in CMD then click OK to open command Window. 4) At the command prompt, type CD\nvflash then press enter to change to the nvflash directory. 5) at the command prompt type nvflash -b <filename>.rom to back up your BIOS. <filename> being whatever you want to name it. 6) at the command prompt type nvflash OVEVGA470.rom press enter and follow the prompts. 7) Reboot for flash to take effect. It's that simple. If you wish you can use GPU-Z to back up your BIOS skipping step 5. However GPU-Z saves the file as a .bin file instead of the .rom file. Just rename the file with the .rom file extension and it will work fine. Edit....added BIOS backup directions and reboot. Good stuff thanks I just knew about the flashing method using a USB jump drive.

Well damn. I wish i could get this to work. I've tried one card at a time, disabling pcie slots, unistalling drivers, etc. This wouldn't be a bios for a SC card would it? nvflash lists all 3 of the cards but when it tries to flash it says they're not compatible with the rom. Anyway, thanks for posting this hemi. I just wish it would work for me

im fairly certain that this bios is for a SC card, since hemi and me both have sc cards and it worked for both of us. if you find a bios for the standard card the same method should still apply.

You're in the same boat as the 55nm GTX 260, the 275's and the 285's.

Folks if you read the supplied documentation, you'll see there is a flag you can use to bypass the GPU detection which will allow you to flash pretty much any BIOS. The thread is titled Unlocking GTX 470 SC voltage...for a reason. Now my suggestion is that is if you are are dead set on AT YOUR OWN RISK flashing the SC BIOS, is to test your cards thoroughly at SC clocks with your stock voltages. In other words, set your core clock to 625 leave the voltage alone and make sure your card is dead solid. Back up your existing BIOS and remember this is AT YOUR OWN RISK!

This bios is for a SC version card. You can flash a vanilla version by using flags in your command line. I have 3 470 vanillas and was able to flash using the method described above but had to add 4, 5, and 6 before the filename. ex. nvflash -4 -5 -6 OVEVGA470.rom It will warn you that you're about to flash between card versions but just hit y to continue. And like always, backup your original and Flash at your own risk. I flashed all 3 of my cards this way and the're working fine.

HeavyHemi ajr23 may have to figure out how to flash the bios on my cards later tonight, have one card that i can run at 890mhz and this would help me break the 900mhz barrier since im voltage limited right now It's extremely simple. Just rename the file with the .rom file extension and it will work fine. Edit....added BIOS backup directions and reboot. This is exactly what I needed. I have not made up my mind yet, but having this here helps. Well done HeavyHemi.

Is no one going to mention that you can pull your OWN bios using NibiTor, under "Tools" go to "Fermi Voltages" and use the top box to make the max voltage what ever you want? Then you know it's YOUR BIOS, and can flash easily. :)

I could not get my Vanilla 470 to work with that bios (i downloaded it from the original site; seems older april 09 date and a different 470 type than mine). It would reboot and recognize only a standard vga adaptor. Good thing i made the backup with GPUz. As someone mentioned above. People should be using a bios that works - and that is their OWN. download xtremetuner HD and take 3 the nvflash files (these will run in windows7 64bit cmd.exe evironment so no need for a bootdisk unlike other versions i found on the internet). Can delete the xtremetuner after those files are taken. make 2 backups of your bios. 2nd one is to be modded with the next program. nvflash -b 1.rom nvflash -b 2.rom Download a program called nibitor 5.7. This allows 2.rom to be adjusted. Open the 2.rom. fermi voltage control - increase limit to the max 1.2. Save the bios, 2.rom. use nvflash to install that bios without the need to use Force flash options. nvflash 2.rom Reboot. I dont think anyone should have a problem with this method. Download nvidia inspector. This program will allow you to increase the voltage beyond 1087. Push your core shader and mem clocks with afterburner or precision higher than before.
