I've seen on a few request at one time or another for information android vs IPhone. While in the computer world Mac OS and Windows enthusiasts have been at each other throats trouncing the reasons for why the other is inferior, in the mobile world it seems to be more of a this OS is better regardless of hardware, provider, or features. This review is not meant to in any guide you to buy one phone over the other, but rather to make you aware of each phones strengths and weaknesses. I will give value points to said features however in the end the real value of those features is in your hands as not everyone needs enterprise Email, 8MP pictures, SIRI, or ICloud. First I will show you the specs, then the review. REVIEW Section STATUS: Complete Review Legend: Size : Covers Screen size, thickness, length, width, and weight. Screen Quality: Covers Screen Quality for Videos and surfing the net Connection Speed: Covers the speed of the phones while on 3G and the MAXX while on 4G Camera: Covers the quality of the rear cameras on both the Iphone and the Maxx, as the front facing cameras are identical GPS: Covers Navigation Features for both phones Voice Commands: Covers Voice commands for both phonesBattery Life: Covers Avg Battery Life Microsoft Exchange Active Sync: How easy is it to set up on your phone and what does it include? Conclusion: I tally up the points but in the end you have to choose which phone has the features you need! Alright so you made it past that wall of text alive, now we'll review the main features of these phones. I will be updating this review as I edit it to completion so please be patient. Size: The first area we will cover is the Size, because we all know that size matters! From the size of the screen to the size of the phone in your hands. Too big and it's cumbersome too small and you have to use a magnifying glass to read any of the text on your apps. As you can see the Razr is substantially longer and slightly wider than the Iphone, and the Iphone is just slightly thicker than the Razr Maxx. Weight wise the Iphone feels much heavier in my hand. The Maxx would be great for someone with larger hands or someone that needs to write out emails on the go due to it's size and wide screen which provides better typing spacing. Where as the Iphone is perfect for those that need to save space, this is perfect for the average persons hands, although typing may be difficult even for the smallest of hands. Iphone Big Hands:0 Typing:0 Small Hands:1 Razr: Big Hands:1 Typing:1 Small Hands:0 Screen Quality: As you can see the Razr Maxx's larger screen pays off in quality, colors and readability during movies and internet browsing. Unfortunately you may have noticed EVGA.com's flash elements are missing from the IPhones safari Browser. The only thing I can give the Iphone in this field is brightness, when compared one to the other in person the brightness on the Iphone is much better than that of the Razr MAXX. Razr MAXX Brightness:0 Color:Even Resolution:1 Viewing Area:1 Legibility:1 Blacks: 1 IPhone 4s Brightness:1 Color:Even Resolution:0 Viewing Area:0 Legibility:0 Blacks: 0 Connection Speed: IPhone 4s 3G Speedtest Razr MAXX 3G Razr MAXX 4G LTE As you can see the Razr MAXX's 3G connection is almost 3-4 times faster than the Iphone's while on 3G. After multiple tests the results were proportionally the same. These were the highest tests for each phone in the exact same spot. Unfortunately the Iphone while still the best the Apple currently has to offer does not have 4G which the IPhone 5 is rumored to have. Until then the top dawg of the android hand helds demolishes the Iphone in connectivity because of it's astronomically superior 4G LTE Capabilities. Razr MAXX: 3G: 1 4G LTE: 1 IPhone 4s: 3G: 0 4G: N/A Camera: Razr Maxx 8MP IPhone 4s 8MP This is actually a tough one, because the Razr Maxx comes with different exposure options; the Iphone does not. However based on the default settings I have to give details to the Razr and Color to the IPhone. Razr MAXX: Color: 0 Details:1 IPhone 4s: Color: 1 Details: 0 Microsoft Exchange Server: This section is my favorite because being a Network admin I see this subject come up a alot at work from our many IPhone and Android users. The answer is simple both phones are amazing and work perfectly with active sync IF the server is setup correctly. When setup correctly any user can login simply by entering their email and password along with setting up a few options for what you want and how long you want it. However there is one gripe against IPhone and that is active sync is NOT natively supported by IPhone 4s's IOS 5 for Exchange Server 2003 which a lot of companies use (our now uses 2010 and it works flawlessly) IF you need to use the IPhone 4s with Exchange server 2003, Apple offer a configuration tool that will allow you to load up a POP3 profile into your IPhone. However you will not get active sync features. Exchange 2010: Razr: Even Iphone:Even Exchange 2003: Razr:1 Iphone:0 Native GPS Functions: Both Phones have GPS Functionality , however Verizon's IPhone does not have native Voiced turn by turn directions. The Razer MAXX includes a free voice turn by turn navigation system. GPS Navigation: Razr: 1 Iphone: 0 Voice Commands: This is were the IPhone shines, while functionally the exact same as google voice. SIRI actually turns voice commands into an interactive and fun feature. While more of a novelty item, it is still very effective and has potential. Keep in mind however that asking google voice the same things as SIRI will result in the same information being retrieved. SIRI does pull ahead in simplifying Voice commands that change for example contacts as you can phrase a contact change as such "SIRI Call "Sarah" "Baby Girl" from now on" This would change Sarah's name in Contacts to Baby Girl. While on the MAXX You would need to say "Contact "Sarah"...*prompts for command* "Change Name to.."Baby Girl"..". As you can see it is not as seamless as SIRI and thus the point goes to IPhone. Voice Command Razr MAXX:0 IPhone: 1 Battery AVG Life This one is kind of hard because I am not an expert tester but what I did was run Pandora on both phones until they died. The Razr Maxx lasted 24 hours before even hitting the 25% Mark Iphone 4s lasted just under 20 Hours Both very respectable battery lifes but the win goes to the Maxx. I ran both of these on wifi to ensure even battery drain on internet connection. Razr Battery: 1 IPhone Battery: 0 *20 Hours for Iphone not 10 Conclusion: Size: Razr if you have big hands/type and Iphone if you have small hands or use it more for media purposes. Screen: Razr Connection Speed: Razr Camera: Even Exchange Server: Razr GPS: Razr Voice Commands: IPhone Battery: Razr

Haha no problem Xray I figured you and some other might get some useful info out of this. Luckily the AT&T Iphone is the same as the verizon except for a few software difference (namely bloatware)

Great review thus far! Thanks! I've never had an iPhone, as I like tinkering with my phones and Android is much more suited to that. I currently have a Galaxy Nexus.

It's not even a comparison IMO, Razr Maxx is the best choice. Apple really needs to release an iPhone with a 4"+ screen to compete.

I have added Navigation and Voice commands to the list of items! Also it is unfortunate to have to compare the Razr MAXX to the IPhone 4s because one is a 4G device that is fairly new while the IPhone is older and on 3G. Unfortunately we have to deal with what is here today and in the battle between IPhone and Razr the Razr wins out easily. This is similar to comparing the 7970 to GTX 580. It is unfair because the 680 is not out yet and the 7970 is next gen while the 580 is not, however if compared today AMD is ahead in the race and when asked AMD or Nvidia simply on specs we would have to go with AMD. So for now if you must go IPhone or Android make sure to get the Razr MAXX. Please keep in mind that the Razr MAXX is the only android phone that I feel beats out the IPhone, as the other Androids lack battery life, screens, and certain functionality.

Not to mention with an Android device, rooting, and an unlocked bootloader, the possibilities are endless. My 1.5 year old Atrix, the first dual core phone, is still kicking. With the fine developers at XDA, I've been able to upgrade it to ICS, overclock it, and do many more things to it that still make it the fastest and neatest phone of any person's I've ever messed with.

i mean... i know alot of phones are better than the iphone. I use one because everyone in my family has one so its just easier on everyone. personally prefer android as i had the original nexus. but i must say... those pictures are a bit extreme... shadowcasting on the iphone screen over the razer is causing the iphone screen to look very dim. and i think that might be a bad example of 4g. i was testing a samsung nexus for my company, and I hit 25mb down and 20 mb up on the verizon network.I say definitely look for stronger signal.

If anything the Shadow casting on the phone would make the screen brighter as there would be more of a contrast, it is a screen not a reflective surface, you don't cast a shadow and blot out your TV or monitors do you? *just teasing. Anyhow the 4G speed is a little on the low end as you can see I have almost no bars in this area. However the point is that even in a area that has almost no bars the 4G speeds annihilate 3G speed with almost full reception The IPhone has many features that make it very user friendly and the fact that it is becoming dominant in the mobile market makes it compatible with many other Iphone users.

Porpoise Hork I would love to get the Galaxy SIII when it comes out but Motorola has been leg humping the crap out of Verison so they wont carry it. I bet they will have it. All 4 major carriers got a version of the Samsung Galaxy SII last year.... nvm I just noticed that Verizon didnt get one. Well they got the Galaxy Nexus which is arguably a better version so you guys cant really complain.
