Well first of all I am looking to upgrade for the witcher 3 which I am really looking forward too. The problem is I don't think my computer will be able to run it well enough so I am thinking of upgrading. Although I am not sure what i want to upgrade too ? I have a 780 ti classified currently but i am un sure if i should just get a second 780 ti or sell my 780 ti and get a 980 sli or a single titan x. In the past I have used sli and crossfire and was very disappointed in it with micro stutter and incompatibility issues with games. Which causes me to lean toward the titan x meanwhile i am worried if I get the titan x something similar will happen like the titan and the 780 ti.

Here are my current specs
i7 4770K @ 4.1ghz
16gb DDR3 ram
GTX 780ti classified 3gb
running a benq xl2420g g sync monitor.

What resolution are you going to be playing at for the next couple of years? That may be your biggest single concern....I have 2x 980 and the only time i get micro stutter are on badly optimized games which are a very few titles. With that said i am not using a 4k monitor, I am at 2560x1080. Here is a good article at Tom's Hardware that shows recent testing of SLI and resolutions.

If your playing 1920x1080 which I assume with a 780ti than I'm not really seeing the point of a TITAN X or a 980. You should either get a GTX 970 or a 980ti when it comes out in next few weeks if your doing 4k. The 980ti is presumed to come out between the 16th and 26th of May. It will also have 6GB vram which is fine even in 4k gaming.

Otherwise I'm not really seeing how 60fps with the 780ti at 1920x1080 is an issue.

If you shoot high and then go low you will be disappointed in the long run.

I guess if you have $700 sitting around you should get the 980ti when it comes out. Don't waste $600 on a 980 when the TI is almost here and the TITANX would likely be overpriced compaired to the 970TI.

After looking at the specs on Nvidias website for the reference 780ti, you are looking at a 3dmark score comparable to a GTX 970. However, you said you have the classified, so I am guessing that's clocked higher.

You only have 3 gigs of VRAM, so that may be an issue if you want to play at higher resolutions such as 1440p or 2160p. But I don't have any data on Witcher 3's benchmarks in this area.

1080p should be awesome and not a problem at all, but you may not be able to turn on all the bells and whistles such as ubersampling. They had this feature in Witcher 2 and even today that setting brings GPU's to their knees. It basically is a form of supersampling that renders the picture 4 times to eliminate jagged lines.

In my opinion, you do not need to upgrade at all for the Witcher 3 if you are playing at 1080p. You will probably need to upgrade, for 1440p, especially if you are pushing for a 60fps+ game, but the only options are a single 980 or a Titan X. I wouldn't recommend SLI to anyone since it's buggy with new release games. SLI always has the risk of issues when games first come out. If you want to stick with single GPU, you can wait for the 980ti, but there is absolutely no legitimate news feeds on this. Do a google search yourself and you will find the only websites that are carrying any information about the 980ti are rumors.

    Asus Z97-Pro Mobo
i7 4790k clocked at 4.7ghz using tower cooler

    240gb SSD

because the game wasn't maxed out and I would like to make use of my 144hz monitor.

on a different thought what if i bought a gtx 750ti to use as a physx card since witcher 3 supports physx ? would a 750 ti be enough ?

I don't think dedicated physx cards work well, but buy a 970/980/980ti if you're looking for a boost.
