I thought we (evga forums) had this discussion during the last titan, and ASIC didnt matter for OC.

I've had two 780 ti kingpins, one very low ASIC, (less that 60) and it couldn't keep stable at factory set OC. then the RMA one had a High ASIC at 90%+ and couldn't OC worth a cent either, (and it died, need to get around to RMAing it again I guess)

so being at both ends of the spectrum, I don't think it matters all that much, at least from what I've seen of ASIC. What I can say is that the high ASIC rated one had a lower voltage set by the bios, under the same loads/clocks so it may be a factor in heat or if you manually adjust the voltage, but that's iffy imo.

ASIC doesn't really actually matter, but for what it's worth, mine are 72 and 77.

    I'm pretty devastated by mine

Lowest I've ever had was 70, the 780's in the box behind me were 78 and 83. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!!!
    RMA?

My Titan X SC is 81.1% but I don't think it really matters from what I understand.

Well, you should def test them first to see what they can do. Your not going to be able to rma unless they turn out to not be able to hold there stock clocks/voltage or some other issue. What they don't tell you in the asic test is what the test considers a high or low quality reading, so people just make assumptions. On that fact, I would take that rating with a grain of salt until you test your cards properly and see where they stand.

ASIC doesn't mean anything guys... really doesn't. Best overclocking card I ever had was the lowest ASIC 7970 that I had... had a 60% 7970 Lightning that would do 1260/1900 on just 1.21V.

Also, had an 81% 780 ACX that wouldn't overclock more than 50 MHz on the core without becoming unstable. ASIC is more or less meaningless.

They seem to top out at 1468 (not tried Mem yet, waiting for backplates) It's just you spend a certain amount of money and expect......I don't know....just better.. £1800 and I'm disapointed :(

I would like to see some science behind this. To see if it is really matter. I had a gtx 770 and it had a ASIC i the 60s that could OC between 1350-1375 cant remember specifics.

If it is performing at factory a settings you cant perform a RMA. It is a silicone lottery when ot comes to OC. Why you can see gunslinger sell 5960x and high end gpu's all the time.

So you got a pair of cards that overclocks better than average (~1400 MHz is average), and you're disappointed because of a meaningless number? That makes no sense at all. 1468 stable for a pair of cards in SLI on stock BIOS is very good.
