Re: Titan x hybrid 2015/09/03 07:51:14 (permalink)
I have a question about the hybrid kit for the Titan X.  I use mine for GPUGrid (Boinc's equivalent of Folding at home)  Typically the temps run about 72-75C.  I've been looking for the hybrid kit for the Titan X but they are sold out everywhere.  I saw on another forum where someone used the GTX 980Ti Hybrid kit on his card and said it worked fine. I guess I'm wondering, would this void the warranty on the card by using a different hybrid kit?

Thanks

No. EVGA allows you to replace the cooler on the card without voiding warranty. EVGA only requires the card be returned to them in original configuration condition with no physical damage to the card and cooler when a return/RMA is needed. Save your original cooler and you should be good if you ever need to return/RMA the card.

Personally; I've seen this question come up a few times. My recommendation would be to call EVGA product support and ask them.. I wouldn't want to run the risk of voiding my warrenty either. They would also know if they are compadible

They are compatible.  They just have the wrong labeling on the shroud.  It won't void the warranty.  There are posts from several EVGA reps in the original posts.  I have a 980 AIO kit on my TX.  I didn't want to wait to get a TX kit.

The kits are literally 100% the same, advise from the stenciling that distinguishes the 980 from the 980ti or the Titan XX. If you remove that stencil, there is 0 difference in any part or function of the hybrid kit.

Thanks, you were right.  Installed the 980Ti kit onto the Titan X without any problem.  Runs great.  Thanks again
