I changed the stock cooler on my Titan X to the ACX cooler a few months ago and getting great results. Hardly ever gets over 55C with load unless it's hot in the house. But I'm looking at maybe even installing one of the liquid coolers for even better cooling. One problem though, I accidently damaged one wire from the fan on the stock cooler. This appears to be needed if I install EVGA's liquid cooler. Anyway to fix this? Very small wire and picture attached. Thanks.

You could solder it back together or just alert EVGA and see if they can replace that piece for you.

Soldering may melt the housing if you do not remove the end that is stuck in there. If you can gently remove it, Soldering will be extremely easy and quick.

That piece is so terribly small I think I'd burn the whole thing up. I broke it right at the entry into the plastic fitting unfortunately. Thanks for the idea.

You will have to pull the rest of the broken end out of the plastic clip in order to repair it by any method. Pulling it out requires pushing in a little metal tab on the side and then pushing it out with a small wire or pin.

Get a Bobby pin (packs are silly cheap) and cut the end off of it. Or use a staple.

You could (?) get a repacement cooler.

Or get crimping pliers and replacement connectors. You will find all you need at Radiospares for example. But it will cost you a lot.

Or get an old GPU cooler, cut off the mini 4pin connector with some wire length, replace yours (just 4 wires to be soldered). Solderings isolation with some shrinkable. Not a big deal. These mini connectors can also be found in electronics devices such as laptops, camcorders, etc.

You can even buy a wired connector : for example this mini 4 pin female to standard 4 pin male adapter (you just need the mini female connector and the wires) : http://www.performance-pc...-connector-female.html

Don't try to fix such a connector. Chances are you will destroy the male connector (on the GPU) when you plug it back on your graphics card.

No luck so far. Much more difficult than I thought. I'm down to the fan itself. Any replacements for this:

Hmm,   If you have a 4 pin connector from a super cheap PWM fan  you could just sacrifice it ($10) and then splice the wires required.
You just need a 4 pin connector that is wired.

Just remember the electrical tape (kapton is better).  IMHO it is still a good mod.

Might try that. Thanks. Any specific fan you have in mind? The plastic connector looks like it's specific for the male end on the pcb.

I can't tell but it looks like  a standard 4 pin fan.  You can try seeing if it fits in a standard MB connector then you know any 4 pin fan connector could be cut.  Or take a 3/4 pin case fan and connecting to where this goes to verify.
When I looked at my Titan X hybrid it is using a standard 4 pin PWM fan and connectors, I can't see EVGA wasting money on a proprietary connector when standard ones are available.

It is not a standard 4-pin fan and it won't plug into a standard 4-pin fan header. It uses a standard NVIDIA PWM fan connector though.

If you aren't comfortable fixing it, why don't you take it to someone who is? It's really not hard to fix. Either the existing connector can be extracted and re-crimped/soldered, or the connector from any other NVIDIA PWM fan can be spliced on in its place.

Yea. I have tried to contact a few companies locally, but they don't have anything small enough to fix it. Suggestions on where to send it?

I also have an old 580 by EVGA with the blower type fan. I haven't taken it apart yet, but it has the EVGA logo on it which is different from the current part. I guess this might work too.

$5,   amazon has it as well for a couple of bucks more if you want to add it on to another order for free shipping.
You can't get any cheaper than this.  Shame it isn't compatible with PWM case fan connectors found on motherboards.

I am sure there are people here on the forum who would do it for you. You could take a look in the power supply section of the forum or the mods rigs section of the forum and look for people who do or have done power supply wire sleaving. PM people and ask if they wouldn't mind doing a "no promises/no warranty" repair for you. Send them a picture of what you need repaired. Also, ask for a picture of an example similar repair they have performed in the past to make sure their quality/skills are good enough for your taste.

I am no expert, but I think I could fix your wire issue "ok". But, I won't be home for a couple weeks. I am sure you can find someone else to do it sooner.

Size matters not with the right tools and experience (or even related experience).  Even soldering 0.5mm pitch leads and smaller is easy.

EKWB cooler doesn't need any power... so if you are considering liquid cooling you won't have to worry about it.

Well, this is impressive. I installed the hybrid cooler on my top card today. Amazing performance. Idles around 27C and never went above 40C on load in SLI with the flight sim I usually play. I was seeing 31-32C at idle and load in the mid 50s before with the ACX cooler. The bottom card still has the ACX cooler which performs quite well but not as well as the hybrid cooler of course. The bottom card idles about 30C and is 47C with load.

Hope Dave can repair my screw up and send it back to me. I am hoping to install the second hybrid cooler as soon as I can. I'm quite impressed at how well the hybrid cooler works.
