I have a X99 Classified motherboard. The GTX980's are in slots #1, #2 and #4.
The center display is connected to the card in slot #1.
The left display is connected to the card in slot #2.
The right display is connected to the card in slot #4.
All three displays are connected using dual link DVI-D cables.

Is this the best setup or should I have something switched around?
Thank you.

He is just asking the connection of the monitor to the gpu, not the PCI lanes.

HarryD, for surround display you could run them off of one card, but I think your setup may be best. Do you have the current setup in Nvidia control panel set to surround?

Looking at bcavnaugh's reply, it shows that in the MB manual, I could use it but I wont be able to use my tri-SLI bridge.
I have nothing setup in control panel. I do have activate all displays presently turned on. I'm just wondering if I should switch DVI cables around but I think I'm good with how it is now.

SLI and surround are two separate beasts. Your bridges that came with your motherboard should work, and if you have the never, the slots should still be even from lane 1, 2, and 4. Lane 3 would be for 2 way Sli.

    Sorry,

You can use the 4-Way SLI Bridge as well for 3-Way SLI if need be.

For my 3 Card for SLI All 3 cable are plugged into my first card and also for surround.
I have to tell NVIDIA Control Panel what mode I want to use, I also restart my computer when I change modes.

Slots 1 and 4 are best for 2-Way SLI as they are both X16 Slots or Lane .

    PE1 – x16 (x8 if PE2 is used)
    PE2 – x8
    PE3 – x8
    PE4 – x16 (x8 if PE3 is used)
