I ordered a GTX 1080 FTW, it was intended to replace the GTX 1080 FTW dt I have, part of me wants to keep all 3 cards so I can fold on them for awhile, while the other part tells me I need to sell one as the cost for the card, heat generated and power usage is just to much with 3 cards. In any case I'll keep all 3 around for a little bit, and that should allow my PPD to reach 1.5m-2m ( I game too, so one card will be used for that from time to time) still that should offer some nice PPD for awhile (and I'll need to update my time zone challenge estimate, go eastern, the original US timezone! :P )

It seems the amount of heat put out by all 3 of these folding at once is a bit much for the portable AC unit in the computer room(+ the house unit) I'll have to wonder how much that's adding to the electric bill too, not only from the third card, but from the fact the room AC has to be running full power just to fail to keep the room cool.

Seems I may be selling the third card as soon as I get the powerlink for it (will need to check the terms there, if I can give it away as a free bonus with the card, and whatnot.

Really wanted to keep it, but it doesn't seem viable for that.

Duct the exhaust outside or out of the room ?

I feel your heat load experience.  Folding hard with three GPUs around 70 C each does warm the room up just a bit. (plus 2 more PCs folding)

My 3-GPUs a EVGA 1080FE and 2 Titan Pascals in my EVGA X99 are going under water next week.

I try to keep the PC room 74 F or lower when it is cooler; but, had 80 + degrees weather this last week. (a new record high temp. might have been set)

Yeah, the portable AC unit exhausts outside, and seems to work well enough with 2 cards going at once, but a third seems to push it beyond the limits of it's cooling (at least keeping it where I'd like it, if I allowed the temp. to get to say 76f + then it might work, but that's a bit hot for me.

Good news is that it's starting to cool down a bit that I might be able to open a window to drop temps a bit in the room if it keeps getting cooler.

New update, 2 Hybrid kits incoming today, so folding will be down a bit while I get them set up, the FTW DT will stay on air however.

Takeeeeeeeeeeeeeee yourrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr timeeeeeeeeeeeeee,no need to rush a job like that, heck just shut down for a day or 5 and dust that case out really really realllyyyyyyyyyyy good. Spit shine that bad boy up. Probably be a good time to sleeve cables, format the drives and do some OCing too. Might even want to pop the ole keys off the keyboard and give them a good going through too!!! Re-site the laser on the mouse, wash that nasty ole mouse pad, dust off the speaker grills, disassemble and lube the casters on your chair. Significant other might have things for you to do too, get that done to impress there is really no need to rush this at all.

EDIT: These suggestions have NOTHING to do with the TZC.  I am here to help is all.

I had to re-engineer my cooling in my workshop this year..
12x GPU's Folding 24\7 sure adds some heat. and over 120 cores Crunching at the same time.. Oh Yeah, that adds some more heat..

Will take some photo's of my test setup and post them tomorrow. bedtime here in Switzerland....

Well I got one Hybrid cooler installed, the instructions were lacking sadly, but I figured it out, second card will be easier now that I know what to do, but I'll try that another day, back to folding!

AH, now this is nice, max temps are at 55c folding with two other FTW cards in the system granted it's 10c higher than the advertised temps, but then again, that's likely not with two other cards in the system heating everything up and the Hybrid above both of them.

granted it IS OCed a bit, +50 core beyond FTW speed and +200 memory as well, and it's working on a 1 million PPD WU (9195)

That's a nice upgrade. How do you have the cards installed, where is the hybrid card mounted?? How loud would you say it is? Enjoy, I'm jelly! :)

Hybrid at the top, one space down the FTW DT, another space below that that FTW, radiator mounted at the bottom of my 900D (intake, started it as exhaust, but it didn't seem to change temps much, going back to exhaust here soon)

I know they say to mount the radiator above the card, but I don't have space for two of them at the top of the case, due to a 240MM radiator that overhangs the sides of the fans by about 5-10 mm either side, so that 240mm radiator is effectively taking up 360mm worth of space.

as for how loud... well I have a portable AC, room tower fan, going and 2 FTWs at 100% fan speed... so it's quieter than any of those, not that it's saying much heh

OK, Here are a couple of photos and test setup of my workshop cooling.

On our Terrace, is about 8'c at the moment here, I have 3 HP servers. These will go into my workshop once I have run a new power circuit and build a shelf.
    Top one is a HP DL580 G7 with 128Gb ram and Intel 2.4Ghz CPU's, 4x with 10 cores each, total 40 cores.
    Middle one is a HP DL585 G7 with 128Gb ram and AMD 2.6Ghz CPU's, 4x with 12 cores each, total 48 cores.
Bottom one is a HP DL580 G5 with 32 Gb ram and Intel 2.93Ghz CPU's, 4x with 4 cores each, total 16 cores. Grand total 104 cores.

The test fan setup, I cut into the existing fresh air recirculation filter box, cut a 150mm hole, fitted some pipes, air is being pulled by a 500m2/h inline duct fan.
Made a sound absorber out of wood for this first test stage, worked a treat. The black 250mm pipe on the left are the ones I will build next week.
The pipes, sound absorbers and fan will be mounted up on the roof.

All the air is pulled out the window by 4x 150mm inline duct fans, mounted in a shelf the hold all my laser disks and other equipment.

I have 5 Folding computers, a mix of AMD and Intel all on ASUS motherboards, running SSD and AIO coolers.
I also Crunch on these, but always leave a core spare per GPU. Adds 18 more cores to Crunching.

    5x EVGA GTX970's.
5x EVGA GTX 980ti's, one is a Hybrid.
    2x EVGA GTX1080 FTW.

This one below with the 1080's installed is part of my Phobya dual motherboard case.

Hope that shows a little bit of the Folding and Crunching power..

That little White Hole in the Door way is the Intake for the Air unit on the other side.
About 8 months after I changed all this the Air Unit Burned up.
So I tore it all back down, though I do still have an 8" hole in my ceiling.

More than a year now that would mean that you are no longer a Newbie.
At least with the new Power Panel I put in my Circuit Breaker are no longer getting HOT, warm but not hot.
In the First TZC in 2014 I burned up two circuit breakers.

That little White Hole in the Door way is the Intake for the Air unit on the other side.
About 8 months after I changed all this the Air Unit Burned up.
So I tore it all back down, though I do still have an 8" hole in my ceiling.

Nice job to both of you!

Plus the temps are finally starting to drop here in Jax.

Yeah, the heat and cost of the third card is a bit more than I can handle, so I'm selling it.
