Looks like a good set. :-) 5820k or 5930k. If you really need 8 cores (you don't for gaming) then you could go for the 5960x. The 5820k has 28 lanes with a max of 3 way sli. The 5930k has 40 lanes and can do 4 way sli.

The M.2 interface is only PCI-E 2.0 (Disappointed) when most of the competitors had gone with 3.0 but that doesn't necessarily mean you still can't use it but you'll have to get the M.2 SSD into a PCI-E adapter (Will occupy a PCI-E slot) like the Intel 750 if you want to achieve PCI-E 3.0 speeds, assuming your M.2 is 3.0 x4, which are amazing and almost double in reading against the 2.0 which I currently use now. Personal preference would be to grab a intel 750 or the new Samsung 950 PRO. Both are NVMe. 4. There have been quite a few sound card issues. AFAIK, there are still issues with the XONAR sound card. Not sure which one you'll be occupying. 5. If I recall correctly and double check this, when going 2800+ on the RAM is when the BLK changes in the BIOS. Also, those that attempted to OC with ram higher than 2800 and a higher BLK had issues. 6. As said before, make sure your PSU is compatible. I also had one my MB and RAM through x99 9 days and had a MB/GPU blowout because my PSU had OCP disabled by default till I got everything RMA'd (GASP!) many months later and got the updated firmware version of my PSU. Just be careful. One more thing, if you're looking to get another Titan X (you're nuts), I'd advise on having to go with a 5930K for 40 lanes if you're going to add the M.2 PCI-E in the mix and 2 GPUs at x16 since you'll be at high resolutions and who knows, maybe one day in surround. GPU speeds don't really matter but did show some improvements when it was at high resolutions in surround setups. This is all I can think of right now but EVGA has come through to fixed a lot of issues over time but it still can get clunky. It seemed a lot of new stuff was dumped on the X99 chipset so that's why so many issues arised.

That 5960x is way too expensive, so let's scratch that off. The 5820k just isn't good enough IMO. So that leaves the 5930k. The 5930k is $499 at Microcenter. Lowest price I could find. Hopefully that CPU will go lower in price for Black Friday, or something. So my decision for the CPU is the 5930k. Link

Thanks for the helpful info. Yes I decided on the 5930, so I'm good on that. You mentioned another TitanX. I have a Evga GTX 980 (Classified). :P I will be waiting for Black Friday/Cyber Monday for deals on the Ram and CPU. I have everything else. All I need is the Motherboard, CPU, and Ram. I'll worry about getting a 2nd GPU later on. =)

I built x99 only to satisfy my hobby of liking to build a computer from time to time. My current machine is way overkill for anything I do, which is surf the internet, play COD/crysis wars, and play fallout 4.
I think that I'm going to keep this one for a few years.

Usually, the way I see the Xxx versus the Zxxx line is, the X line will last longer like my X58 did till this point than the rest and still running strong via folding.  The X line is the highest line and should last longer than the rest since its the higher bracket of the desktop market till you start hitting Xeons aka enterprise.

Yeap pretty much covered it. With regard to USB2 it's not end of the world because you can simply expand that with things like: https://www.nzxt.com/product/detail/99-iu01-usb-expansion-case-accessory.html What Classy lacks is also PS/2 port (plenty of horror stories with people unable enter BIOS with USB kbrd) and it doesn't report things at all (POST listing, for most not important, but for me very). BIOS while nice and eye friendly lacks some options which are nice/required to have when you go workstation/server (like delayed start of devices during initialization/POST). As for everything else get 750. For booting it doesn't really matter. It will boot slower than SATA AHCI device (PCI-Ex initialization works differently), but for some work or data which is frequently R/W it's magnificent. For large directories (everybody with even smallest interest in images, photography etc has at least one such bulky DIR) NVMe is the thing to have. It doesn't really matter 80, 120 or 200k files. VMs, databases also very nice. But if you want only to boot and put system then don't bother. Unless you doing some work on NVMe drive you'll never see the difference between SATA AHCI and NVMe. 99% operations by OS is QD=1 and it does not require 3000MB/s R/W capability. Take it from me. As a owner of 2 750 I testify here and now. Booting take much longer (don't care), normal operations (browsing net, mail, word, excel) are equally the same when you compare old Corsair Force 128 GB connected to SATA2 port on X58 (one of my systems) and 750. NVMe shows it strengths when you access it frequently preferably with high R/W count.

The only thing I saw from Sajin that, to me, was misleading.
The z series chipset are thermal paste,
The X series chipset are soldered.
Above, it was said the K series with 16-28 lanes were thermal paste, which is incorrect. 16 lanes chips are, but the 5820k (the first non-xeon cpu available above 16 lanes) is soldered.
Telling people what you are specifically using this for is going to make a huge difference.
Just gaming: z170 will serve just fine. This has been shown in nearly every benchmark on the forums.
For gaming and production: x99 will give you an advantage due to more cores.

Mostly gaming, you get everything you would need out of z170 or x99. X99 would have the advantage of 3 way sli availability with the 5820k (without the plx chip).
Not misleading. Just incorrect. I failed to mention that the 5820k & 5930k are speical.

@ Xray... Just curious. What is your reason for the Classified over the FTW board?
To have the best one. Might as well have all the features, and be happy, as opposed to wondering why I just didn't get the top of the line Evga X99 board in the first place. 
Thanks for your thoughts...  I usually lean that way as well. In this case, not much of a difference in features that pertain to me and my use to justify the cost difference. I'll wait and see where things are at when Broadwell-E gets released.

I think best option now is 32GB Double Sided modules 4x8GB 2800/3000MHz. Maybe is best 2800 1.2V and than to tight latency as much possible. 14 would be ideal. If you invest now in i7-5930K max you can lose with upgrade on Broadwell-E is 100$. But only improvements will be ... i7-6850K on 4.0GHz will be i7-5930K on 4.2-4.3GHz and IMC capable for average 100-200MHz higher frequencies. i7-6850K will be good option for people who bought i7-5820K but they want more PCI-E lanes.

You choose well. I'll upgrade on Haswell-E because that was good option at the moment and I didn't want to wait something and one year later to get 10% better performance. Better invest now and overclock little and that's more than Broadwell-E on stock.

I have to wait and see what the X99 Dark offers for features compared to the current Classy and FTW boards. And if the bottom 40 lane Broadwell-E chip falls in near the price of the 5930K, that's where I'll go...

I may wait for the "Dark" version of this Motherboard. Not sure what extra features the Dark would have. Maybe just get the CPU and Ram this holiday, then see what the Dark has to offer when it comes out.

I agree, this is board to buy if you are not planning on updating for 4 or 5 years. Our x58s still run games fine 5 to 6 years later. Just had to update graphics cards is all. I just hope they are are good stable boards like the x58s are. I will probably never build a zxxx board.
