I would have automatically used both. I would think using just one wouldn't make sense to me. So when I get the board, and build it, I will just go ahead, and use both plugs. My Sound Card would go in the shorter PCI-E slot correct? What is M.2?

Yes, sound card would go in the x1 slot. M.2 is for pci-e based solid state drives.

I see. Ok, well then it goes into the x4 slot as there isn't a x1.

You only use one of them unless you need 600w of OCing LN2 power.

To be exact, I can't see the actual label on it on my machine now but can be found in the manual, the one on the right of the two connectors needs to be used for normal daily use.

Having both 8-pin power connectors hooked up isn't going to make your cpu draw 600w automatically. The power will be there though if needed and if you can push your cpu into that territory of watts by overclocking your cpu sky high.

Sounds good. I'll probably just hook up my 1200w to both plugs on the Motherboard.

Newegg is a lot higher than that as I mentioned in an earlier post. I just checked Corsairs website for the heck of it, and they are the lowest at $314.99

On a side note..I use 64GB of RAM for VMs to build test environments. So like the others have said..if its just gaming probably no more than 16GB (32 for future proofing) required.

What motherboard you getting ? I am waiting for the Dark Edition. Unless it doesn't appear in January.

I'm going ahead and getting the X99 "Classified". If the Dark comes out within the 90 day step up period, then I'll get the Dark then.
