Onto the build:
I recently moved and I can't find my camera so all the pics were taken with my phone. Sorry
.
This case is a breeze to disassemble and work with.
All the goodies from Newegg:
Motherboard and radiator in place (and a hairy leg for good measure
):
Phanteks replacing the stock Corsair fan. This fan is awesome and ridiculously quiet:
CPU Heatsink (installed with Gelid Extreme Paste), SSD and HD installed. Cables connected (it always looks so pretty without the cables
):
Pic from the back with Gelids installed (even though they are 80mm PWM fans they are also very quiet, and push a good amount of air):
Video Card installed (The 760s work with MAC without the need of installing extra drivers). Fits like a glove
:
Back view:
All bezels back in place:
Success!!! MAC OS X Yosemite booted
!
The max temp this got to was 52 under load (it idles around 34 with dead silent fans) and it's incredibly quiet (this is one of the things he was adamant about! His MAC cluster right now is very hot and loud!) We are testing this for a week and if it works without issues we are replacing 2 other satellite MACs he has with exact replicas of the Little Beast and then his base MAC with the actual Hack'n'MAC Beast with an Octa-core CPU, 64 gigs of RAM, 2 GPUs, a lot of storage, etc... The Hack'n'MAC will have dedicated Water Cooling which will definitely be a lot of fun for me
. Next build we'll have the camera with so will take a lot more pics and do a lot more detailed work log. Have a good one guys!
