I placed the request for the Thermal Pad off the site and on the confirmation email it states 1 thermal pad requested. Is that all they provide us? I did it off my Iphone and it only let me select my 1080 FTW serial number for my card and did not get option on anything else?

It's 1 order of thermal pads. More than 1 come in the package I assume. They at least have to give us some paste to repeat the heatsink with. Though they could have us cut the thermal pad to size.

They use thermal pads for less critical components on the card. The GPU gets directly cooled via thermal paste and direct contact with the heatsink, while the others usually have thermal pads linking them to the memory cooling plate that gets cooled indirectly by the airflow past the heatsink fins. These thermal pads add to the load on the cooling plate but eliminate the risk of overheating the vrm modules. You will be learning how to take apart a GPU air cooler though.

Before you receive the pads there'll be a thread here informing where you're supposed to apply them.

Thanks but I meant how they get them. I do not have them yet. Will they be sent automatically if your card is registered? Is there a site I have to request them? Thanks again.

Will the pads only have contact with the fins? Will there be a plate similar to how Palit or Asus cards are? If not, wont it be super inefficient and dry out eventually?

There is already a plate. The way it is set up is PCB, Mosfets, Thermal pad, Heatspreader, air gap, fins, fans. What you are adding makes it PCB, mosfets, thermal pad, heatspreader, thermal pad, fins, fan. There is nowhere to put a second plate.

Scarlet-Tech thermal pad, heatspreader, thermal pad, fins, fan
So wont the thermal pad dry out this way? Isnt it normally mosfet -> thermal pad -> heatspreader that is physically part of the rest of the heatsink? Also inefficient? Here http://imgur.com/a/XGgn6 you can see the ROG Strix, ZOTAC AMP!, Gigabyte G1, Gigabyte Gaming all have plates I guess its better than nothing - we should get a redesigned HSF assembly with the heatsink being the same as the heatspreader Super disappointed in my first EVGA purchase - first crazy coilwhine, now such a fundamental design flaw
