I did a search, but nothing is coming up (maybe using wrong terms).  Anyway.  Has anyone changed the thermal paste on their 980 cards?  If so, what is the best paste to use?  I know everyone will have different opinions and that's fine.  I am trying to get multiple responses, so I can research them.  It's been awhile since I've used any and all I have is the Artic AS5 and that's 4 years old.  Below are some of the ones I've looked at so far.

Tuniq TX-4 High Performance Thermal Grease
Gelid Solutions GC-Extreme Thermal Compound TC-GC-03-A
Innovation Cooling Diamond "7 Carat" Thermal Compound

Thanks...Al

Gelid thermal paste is awesome, and I have used Artic Mx-4 on every single card I currently have (7 total) and it works well also. I haven't tried the other two you mention yet.

Thanks for the input.  Did you see a difference in your GPU temps?

Every gpu showed a drop of a few degrees at least. To me, it was good to get in there and check everything and just verify the paste was good. On most of them, there was an excess of paste, and on one, there was a tiny bubble, so I cleaned it up and reapplied.

Thanks again.  One more question.  I read the that Extreme was hard to spread, although I don't spread, but use the line method.  Will this be a problem?  Is it hard to use the Extreme or should I be aware of anything while using this paste?  I do agree with getting in there and seeing what it looks like.  I see folks posting photos of their GPUs innards and they had blobs of stuff in there.

I didn't find it hard to spread. I actually spread on every one I replace, because I find that the chances of a bubble are reduced.

I was Gelid Extreme user for a long time, probably from the time they came up with that product and I was happy with the results until recently I have switched to MX-4 and no going back to Gelid, even if the price drops to half  which is not the issue here.
2-3 months ago I got 10 tubes of Gelid Extreme and upon opening one of them I've notice that tube had water  accumulation, about half of it and the remaining paste was hard texture, I opened all 10 tubes, all the same thing, OK maybe bad run of tubes
I was about to replace CPU block from 380i to heatkiller, so when I removed it I know this that the Gelid I applied maybe 4-5 months ago was almost bone dry but at the time of applying it was OK, I have 3 systems which on all of them I used Gelid, out of curiosity I have removed CPU block from  another system just to discover that the paste was dry as well, OK so the 10 tubes I got recently  where bad but what about the paste I applied months ago, the paste doesn't last long under heat.
Why I was changing CPU block? my temps where rising very slowly I was wondering what was happening under CPU, now I know.
I emailed Gelid at least 5 times with no response, to me that's  not  a good thing.
When you compare temperatures you getting from different pastes aren't that noticeably different (2-3C Max) I thought I would  try MX-4 and I can tell you, the paste feels very consistent  and its much, much easier to spread.
Guys! keep that though in mind when replacing paste, I thought I would share this info.

With the bare dies on GPUs, try something less viscous than GC Extreme- I have had better results on average with Prolimatech PK-3 personally compared to GC Extreme.
