Lets see it.

I am not sure what mine is, but this is probably up there:

I was testing a waterblock, so I got water from the sink straight in to the block, and poured right back into the sink.

...and yes, the monitor is hanging by a rope.

Ive got a recliner at home that has a broken stud on one of the hinges underneath it, I put a screw driver through the hinges to hold them together.  The screw driver is still there.  I sit in the chair everyday.

The most getto thing i did is moved here. Lucky I am out of here less than a month. Don't get my wrong, living it batch style with my friend has been awesome but the house it just $hit. whats is even funnier is that out of the 20 houses or so we inspected this one was the best by far.

Yes that is the neighbors yard. gota love the privacy

lol look at this dump. you should see the neighbor across the road. looks like a tip.

You can't fit the cars in the drive way. too small of a gap between the house and the fence.

The only mirror in the house and it snapped off the first time we open it.

So I fixed it, yes that is electrical wire the mirror is tied to.

And I gave it all up for this! what the hell was I thinking?? The bachelor style living seemed like a good idea at the time.
Its awesome that I will going back here soon. no more city living yay, bye bye $hit town.

The knob is high. This house it so poorly designed that the sink is only big enough to wash 1 or 2 plates at a time and frying pans don't fit at all. The wall near the back door is falling in. lol brb. I just remembered something hilarious.

btw that's not the back door, that is the toilet door. the toilet is out side *face-palm*

After just 3 months of being here we get a electricity bill for over $300. 2 guys... $300?? ****?. I looked at the bill and the off peak was way off the chart. So I took at look at the hot water heater and found some a$$ set it to 85oC (185oF) not to mention the dodgy looking wiring and corrosion .

Re:The most GHETTO thing you have done. 2010/02/08 20:51:45 (permalink)
I don't have pics, but I've got 2 ghetto rigs *in production* right now at work.

1) Supermicro chassis + supermicro motherboard, except the CPU socket is closer to the i/o plate than the front so the original standoffs don't match.  There's a false motherboard tray in the case for socket 771, but since the CPU socket wasn't in the right place we had to remove it.  However, since the chassis wasn't for a LGA1366 board, it didn't come predrilled for mounting holes or a heatsink.  So we bought the official intel one online.  Except that doesn't come with a backplate.  So we fashioned one out of the CoolerMaster LGA1366 adapter kit that basically has nuts instead of a backplate.  A few cuts/scrapes later from trying to exert pressure on the spring loaded screws we got the screws about halfway threaded through the nuts.  Can't go any farther!  Since this seemed like a *bad idea* to have it just sit on the chassis, I proceeded to electrical tape the socket and the washers so it wouldn't ground out.

2) This one should be going into service tomorrow, but it's basically a spare part monster.  Antec 3U case, but we seemed to have lost the standoffs except for ATX.  The spare motherboard we had was EATX, so the proper standoffs had to be put for the CPU, as that's the most important contact.  Everything else got random standoffs from the screw bin.  The screws fit into the standoffs, but the standoffs aren't tapped the same as the motherboard tray, so they're barely hanging in there.

Of course then you need power for this thing.  Being a 3U, it can't fit a ATX PSU standing on its side.  Instead, it goes in the front compartment, about where you would figure the CD drive would go.  The default power supply was actually some weird one with the power cables (24 pin, etc) and the C13 plug on the same side! The cable you run to the wall is then supposed to thread out the back of the case.  That PSU had been used for something else along the way, so I threw in a 650W we had and ran a cable inside the case and then out the back through the hole that had been punched.

I managed to stretch the cables across the width of the board and plug in the 24 pin and 4 pin with probably a cm or so of slack.  The 8 pin reached a lot easier, but I had an extension on hand if it didn't end up reaching.  I couldn't put the power supply on the side of the case closer to the motherboard plugs because I couldn't wedge the 24pin power through the hole that the (power switch, front USB, led leads) were run through.

System Profile:
Core i7 920 D0 | Heatkiller 3.0 LGA1366 | EVGA x58 *Classified 759* | EK Full coverage X58 block | 3x2GB G.Skill DDR3 1600 | GTX 260 Core 216 SC | 1TB WD Caviar Black (Win 7 Pro) | 2 * 1TB WD Caviar Green (RAID 1) | HAF 932
