Welcome to my build log now sponsored kindly by Hellfire Toyz, EVGA and FrozenQ PC Mods

Background
My first ever build originated late last year with the Corsair 900D, Asus Maximus VI Formula, i7 4770k and dual AMD R9-290x cards all on a custom loop. But even before I could finish the loop, the mining craze hit and I sold off my Hawaii cards for a small profit and went with 2x EVGA 780 Ti Classified KPEs instead. So that went well for a few weeks till I realized a single Corsair AX1200i jsut wasn't enough power for this system when benching on water. I began looking towards CaseLabs then and put on a feeler post on Craigslist to sell the 900D. Then the magic happened :D
I traded my 900D (As seen below during the leak test stage) plus some cash:

for this:

Excuse those potato pictures since they were taken with excitement without setting up my dSLR. I really made out like a bandit in this trade. That is a TX10-D with pedestal and extended top along with plenty more goodies.

The cooling here isn't set in stone, I got plenty of space to put in a Phase change unit for the CPU but I am not a big fan of the noise. I might also consider a Bong cooler as the front flex bay compartment will be mostly unoccupied. I am open to thoughts and suggestions!

Cheers, man! My DSLR battery charger had died so the past few days I had to use my phone for pictures. Thankfully the replacement charger is on its way to me now.

    The fans so far:

That's 18 Gelid Wing 14s (for the Mo.Ra), 16 Corsair SP120 PWM fans (8 HPE, 8 QE) for the two 480mm rads and 2 extra AF120 for airflow. I have an additional 140mm fan I got and I just placed another order for 8 Cougar CF-V14HB 140mm fans for the SR1:

I still need 2 more rad fans for the Phobya G-Changer 120 but I will hold off the purchase since I am not even sure I will be using it. In the meantime, I prepped up the Aquaero 6 XT and one of the DVD drives for installation while also fiddling around the flex bay covers to make it neater. I must warn people about the QC of the Aquacomputer Aquaero 6 (XT or Pro versions)- they seem to not adhere completely to the 5 1/4" bay standard dimensions. Plenty of owners have had issues fitting it in, I was lucky with the 900D. In this case it was a lot more snug than I would like. Thankfully, CaseLabs made an accessory just for this (http://www.caselabs-store.com/flex-b...nonconforming/) and I will be ordering it soon. In the meantime, I went ahead and installed the passive heatsink accessory. When operating low PWM signals, the device gets pretty warm so this would help dissipate the heat better- especially with a fan blowing at it.

and then installed it with the aforementioned DVD drive:

The empty slot on the other side is for the other DVD drive coming in today. I will be on the lookout for another fan controller as well as more pumps and so forth. I also have a DataVac coming in soon to help clean all the rads (some have been used in the previous build).

Tell me about it, the wheels are invaluable when working with the case. The case gives a new meaning to the term "working in a case".

Here is an idea of how tall this case can get:

That is Seross from OCN, a gentleman who is 5'9" tall and has a white version of this case with 2 more pedestals. He also has an extended top like mine so the fully assembled case is taller that he is. If anyone is interested, this is a link to his insane build log: http://www.overclock.net/t/1374618/sponsored-excessive-insanity-5-computers-in-a-case-labs-tx10-d-with-triple-pedestals-sponsored-by-ek-water-blocks

Meanwhile, my wallet is complaining already:

I think I have spent over a grand at PPC and likely the same amount split between FCPU, SideWinder, Hellfire Toyz and so forth. I still need 1-2 simple fan controllers, 3 more pumps and spare parts for the 3rd 400mm reservoir. I will definitely have to wiggle around the reservoirs in the main chamber to get the pump in below, likely I will need to drill in pass throughs for tubing and then install the pumps at the bottom of the case. So each pump will then have to push up coolant close to 5 feet

Also, the replacement battery charger for my camera is here and so this should hopefully be the last phone camera picture I will have to take.

Thanks everyone, got some more stuff in today but a big order is coming in Monday to help me put actual components together.

Can someone explain the Mods Rigs website? Should I create a rig on there now or after everything is put together? Also, since I have 2 rigs in this system how do I go about putting this build(s) in there? Thanks again!

bcavnaugh: Thanks a lot, that helps. I would have thought that the 1k sponsorship would be handy during the build but I can see why it is the way it is.

knightsilver: There is enough space in the bottom to put in a full kitchen sink :)

I would rather i7-5960X and EVGA X99 board than 1000$.
But I would be satisfied and with i7-5930k.

I am still keeping possibly a fool's hope on the 5930k being an octacore. If not, I will have to think hard about it since I will likely save a ton of money if I go 4930k, an x79 motherboard and DDR3. But the more I think about benching with an octacore...

Personally I think you should maybe go for an i7 4790K (when released) and an EVGA Z97 motherboard

I got z87 going in the other rig and my current 4770k is a pretty decent chip even without de-lidding. If I was to do it all over again, I would not choose the M6F for the motherboard and likely go with the EVGA z87 Classified or the MSI XPower. Intel can't produce magic with the 4790k, it is still the same Haswell chip and likely is coming with much higher stock clocks. While that is great for reviews where no one bothers going past stock these days, it doesn't say much about the overclocking nature of the chips.

The x79/x99 rig is for me and will be utilized for a bunch of modelling work where hyoerthreading and multiple cores actually do come in use. Even the AMD 8350/9590 chips have a small advantage here compared to i5 chips of the present. So I would definitely like to go with more cores, but again within reason. Else I would likely have gone with a locked, 10/12 core Xbox chip.

Got the Cougar fans and the Datavac compressor. The fans are very, very nice indeed! The compressor is also definitely worth the money and I got my rads as dust free as possible.

Another package from PPC coming in in a couple of days with more fans, fittings etc. Tomorrow I start assembling the Mo.Ra and putting it into place, that will dictate how and where everything else goes in.

One side of the Mo.Ra mounted with fans but before I take any pictures of it, I need to drill holes into the Mo.Ra super mount to accomodate for tubing/fittings since I am going to make use of the extended top and have the entire Mo.Ra assembly above the mount.
In the meantime, about them Cougars:

I think I am a believer in the Cougars now, and I love the drop-in radiator mount concept- especially coming off the terrible to use side mounts in the 900D. Today I go back to the Mo.Ra mount and attempt some drilling.

If anyone else is interested, here are radiator volumes for the rads I have measured so far:
    1) Phobya G-Changer 120 (Pretty much an Alphacool UT60 120): 220 mL
    2) XSPC AX480: 300 mL
    3) Alphacool Monsta 480: 670 mL
    4) HardwareLabs Black Ice SR1 560: 490 mL
I may have that Phobya number off, will check again today.

    Edit:
Got another package from PPC. Other than the odd fitting, splitter and flexbay solid covers I got 2 more things I am very excited to use

I will only be using the Blitz kit on the Alphacool and Phobya rads, the others will be just fine with hot water flushes + distilled water rinses hopefully. That's still a pretty decent kit for the money.

Is it ok to consecutively post in here? Each new post is more updates but if I should rather just edit previous posts, please let me know.

Let me tell you this though: 18 fans and the 72 hex screws are not easy to mount on the Mo.Ra:

I know, I know.. I will have to cable manage better and drill a few more holes to give power/control the fans above but at least I am making full use of the extended top now. I also installed the SR1 below the Mo.Ra on the left side of the case:

With everything put in place, it looks a lot neater:

It seems that somebody is finally giving Project Thief a bit of competition.  At any rate, after viewing this thread, my shrink is going to have to readjust my meds.

Stren was and continues to be an inspiration for all owners of the TX10. But as I pointed out in post #10, Seross currently has the record with the TX-10, extended top and 3 pedestals!!

Hope the meds help out, because more insanity is coming this way soon. Time for some actual hardware to find its way in now including the KPEs.

I love, love, love the removable motherboard tray. Such a simple idea and yet so useful!

Since Haswell-E isn't out yet, I decided to assemble the z87/KPE rig. First off, the Maximus 6 Formula:

I kinda cheated since the EK M6F and the Koolance 380i was already on from the previous build. Also, that massive cutout means either easy cabling or untidy looking mess of cables. I will make my mind as cables come in on whether or not I get the back covers for the motherboard trays. Next up, more bling bling with the Corsair Dominator Platinums and the light bar upgrade kit:

I see the upcoming x79/x99 build as a bit of redemption in that I bought into the hype from "tech reviewers" and went with the stereotype forum favorites: 900D, Asus ROG with all them gaming features like Sonic Radar that I have used never, Corsair Dom Plats etc. Oh well, live and learn. Too bad the upcoming Rampage V Extreme will still be one of the best x99 boards and have features I will continue to never use. Really hoping that the EVGA x99 Classified competes well and at a good price point too.

Now then, let's have something Classified:

Again, if anyone wants to see more pics of this engineering beauty, I link two albums: Unboxing the KPE and Watercooling the KPE

Now then, one KPE is good but two are better:

Ok, ok I know it is on the stock cooler but I have to test it first. How about a better looking SLI bridge instead?

A 120mm exhaust fan later, it is back in the case for now. I got a thin 120 rad on the way that I might put in exhaust instead if it doesn't clash with the MOSFET block. The Phobya G-Changer definitely doesn't.

A better look at the sheer amount of space left:

Not to worry, there will be two massive reservoirs going in there along with 2-3 pumps. Heck, in my mind that space actually seems small now. One more look, this time with the door closed:

I might have to get one XXL windowed door if this doesn't suffice. I will be removing the entire motherboard tray out, install the tech station parts and use it outside with the dual 480 rads till I get all the reservoirs and pumps inside.

That is true, although I would say, except that Seross keeps breaking all of his fancy toys, but then so does Stren. heh

Might you consider doing a squared-block or left-right echelon configuration of four 400mm watertank in that space just rear of the bays?
