Decided to put my replacement Micro board through its paces and give "Modern Industry" one last run for her money before it gets taken apart and 'downgraded' tomorrow.

I had about 2 hours to move past the 24/7 overclock from my old board (4.44) and can't say I'm too disappointed  Without having time to tweak at all the board/CPU posted through 5GHz and ran Vantage (choppily) at 4.7.

For some reason the shader and VRAM clocked higher on earlier runs but couldn't get them stable again tonight. d'oh!

Re:The Official Single and Dual 260 Vantage Score Thread 2010/04/15 12:54:05 (permalink)
Someone recently made a thread in the 200 card series section on posting your GTX 260 OC.  I posted my results but obviously nobody gives a crap (its OK, I won't take it personal... LOL).

Here was my last post in that thread - I was thinking maybe someone in this thread could answer my questions.  Also, I realize that you're supposed to run vantage with PhysX on.  I will do a Vantage run later with PhysX on to have a score comparable to others in this thread.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've been able to reach FTW speeds on my GTX 260 Core 216 65nm - 670/1404/1152.  Temperatures are pretty much the same after doing 20 minutes of Furmark / MSI Kombuster (reach ~80C on core).

This OC was done using MSI Afterburner.  I used to have my custom AUTO fan set using Riva Tuner but MSI Afterburner's fan profile config is much easier.  I've kept Riva Tuner but started using MSI Afterburner individually now.

One problem I encountered was MSI Afterburner's option to Sync the Shader clock and the Core clock speed.  I know that there are shader straps and your "true" shader speed is different depending on the core clock speed you choose.  At first I left my Core clock and shader clock in sync using Afterburner, but trying 670 core clock speed while sync'd made my shader clock bump up to 1458 (not 1404 like FTW speed).  When trying Furmark / MSI Kombuster at 670/1458/1152 my card ran fine for about 10 minutes and then it clocked itself back down to 2D clock speeds while still running MSI Kombuster.  I'm guessing this is some kind of safety feature on the card to prevent possible damage?

Also, these straps - do they apply to GTX 260 & GTX 275 cards also?

Here is my Vantage run @ FTW speeds (PhysX off) - http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dmv=2081434

geek32, you can put your results in my database - http://skatebro.x10hosting.com/

When I get some more time this will become more elaborate.  Especially if I can get some help and an OK to centralize our results so that it is easier to keep them current.

Also, read my posts in this thread.

My PC will pop the breaker every time I plug it in now...
She is currently dead.

Had to buy a laptop, and get me a new job to get back online.

I have now successfully done both.
