Q56_Monster What's so bad about a P42k? Looks pretty high to me! Time, my friend...where there is a will, there is a way. If you want to go higher, you just need to find the way with your particular set-up. I've been overclocking my current configuration since March, and it still has room left in it for improvement. You're not doing anything wrong. How much better score BTW? Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm VERY happy with my score, just from looking at the master list, I'm using one of the lowest overclocks in the 40k+ score range, and am just wondering if I was doing something wrong. That being said, yes, I'm happy with my score, but if I have one of the lowest overclocks in the 40k-42k point range, it makes me wonder how much higher my score can be if I can successfully increase my overclock some more. If I increase any of the three areas even by one point, I get artifacts. One thing I haven't tried was to overclock each card individually to see if one of them is holding me back or not. Using all the same settings / drivers, and strictly updating the BIOS to S61J, my score increased 433 points. On the other hand, if I update the video driver to the newest 195.62 WHQL, I lose around 1,000 points and get really bad stuttering during Vantage.

If you have a much weaker card, and have both card on one loop, put it in the primary slot. It will fail quicker in the secondary slot, even though it is doing much of the work in the primary slot. H2o too warm by the time it gets to that weak card in the secondary slot (my hypothesis). I've done a lot of testing in this area...more than I care to remember. Also, if you want the best driver for vantage it's 190.56. Does not come with physx, so you have to dl that from nvidia and install separately. And one last pointer, one that you don't want to hear, is that your extreme cpu is not doing you any favors. If you can afford $300, get a 920 D0, and sell your extreme.

I thought it was determined that clock for clock, the two are the same, performance wise. Thanks for the other tips, btw, I'm going to try them now. EDIT: The older driver was worth a few points. Not night and day, but still a couple extra to bump me up a spot or two. Thanks for the tips. I'm not sure why I'm bothering to post this....only a 2 point improvement . This would have been the run of the century if physx would cooperate and get over 200. Of course, the run I did after this was 207 . Just can't seem to get physx going. As soon as I tweak it not to bomb out to windows, then it runs slow, like this run. I have considered it... but usually try and think of something else real fast. I don't think there is room without changing the format for one... The second thing to me is that this recording Vantage score thing, has always been about giving people a better idea on what numbers they should expect if: Running X processor, At Y speed, with GPU set to ZZZ speeds = PXX,XXX I didn't care so much how you got you clock speeds there, be it water cooled, over volting, dry ice, air cooled... Whatever! Didn't matter to me, just that you got them there, and what score it generated. The thing about the dual and single is as far as cores and shaders go, they are the same card, so the performance mathematical equation hasen't really changed. If they had more or less cores or shaders, I would go for it. The only thing that has changed, is the ability to over-volt via software. While I do sympathize with the non-programmable boys, and do acknowledge the tragic nature of the situation, It still hasen't motavated me to want to start a new Co-op list from scratch.

Talonman It is a super run buddy! (Mandelbulb) (It uses every GPU and CPU in your system, in SLI or PhysX Mode) Thanks for your work there Talonman...I'm going to have to sleep on your vantage physx test discovery there. No utilization, but when you set vid ram too high the test bombs out...hummm. The CPU is obviously doing all the work, but something must be being passed to the GPU's in order to do the "physx" part of the test. I don't really know how Physx works, but I imaging it's another layer that sits on top and apart from the GPU's. I'll try that mandelbalm (seinfeld reference?, ha) Thanks again.

Jus blew my old score out of the water with 190.65! q2subzero ------------ i7 920 D0@ 3.90GHz --- (1) 295 702/1566/1215 ----- P26,894 http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dmv=1674536 eh, guys?! why does my cpu keep dropping down multipliers while runnin vantage? i'll notice during the gpu portion, that my cpu multiplier keeps fluctuating between 20/20.5/20.8/21. any way to keep this from happening? i saw this on RealTemp as i was running vantage. it stays at 3.9ghz while running the cpu portion tho.

For us poor suckers who are stuck with the co-ops why not just add a c after the 295 if some one says that they have a co-op.

yea... co-ops got the short end of the stick. I am about to RMA one of my 295's and fear I will be getting back a co-op. q2, disable it, also try 190.56 drivers.

190.56 work in sli on Batman:AA and MW2? with the sli patch? and why the hell does Vantage think i have a 3.7ghz cpu? cpu-z says 3.9ghz when the cpu is in use. as does my bios in post screen.

haven't a clue. I just use it to bench. I get 1000 points less when using any other drivers. Stands to reason you should get 1000 more points if you use those drivers? (speculation of course) <name that quote
