MSim I think DICE is probably working on an app to help people who rent a dedicated server, change settings and or moderate the server.
It would be interesting what DICE comes up with. As Fearpoint noted, EA locked out the largest and in fact, all threads in the BF1 forums, pertaining to this subject. We'll see soon what kind of news it'll be.

Here we are less than a month away from release, EA/DICE still won't give the community a direct answer. Meanwhile just about every gaming news site is dead silent about it.

Was the discussion about anti cheat about no Punkbuster support in Battlefield 1?

All anti-cheat threads in only the BF1 section? Or all anti-cheat threads in all sections including BF3, BF4, and Hardline sections? If it is all anti-cheat threads in only the BF1 section, then I completely understand why it would be appropriate to lock those threads since those threads would necessarily require speculation based on no known facts which no EA employee would be allowed to comment on for or against and would therefore end up spiralling out of control into rumor mill territory. Such thread would end up serving no purpose except to incite turmoil.

Well this is a Battlefield 1 thread...... Also everything pre-launch is speculation over there because they won't release basic information. Having been active on the Battlefield forums for years there is a clear change in what is allowed now, basically no criticism. I've seen game forums like that before such as Bioware and they recently shut down their forum entirely to prevent criticism from being seen.
Not my fault if you're offended.

Ok. Then totally justified according to that forum's rules. If people want to post there, they must follow their rules. They can follow other people's rules on other poeple's forums.
Everything pre-launch is not speculation. Was the beta played by people, or did they dream it? Are official announcements dreamt about as well? There is plenty of non-speculative content to discuss.

notfordman Thanks for the link Ty_ger. It is quite lacking in info though it seems. lol
It is very lacking in information. But, it does indicate and confirm a number of things which were previously only rumors until now. A generally well informed and respected individual concluded this: There will be no RCON. As I read it server management will be done through the new UI. Just like consoles did with BF4.
There will neither be PunkBuster support. (It wasn't in the Beta either)
Brace yourself for a cesspool of abuse, since you cannot automate anything in BF1. No more:
1. Chat logging 2. Stats logging 3. Language filters & punishment system 4. Banlist sharing across servers 5. Votemap 6. Votekick 7. Ping Kick 8. Ingame balancer (DICE balancer does only end-of-round balancing) 9. Custom scripts to catch cheaters
BF1 will be a cesspool of abuse. This does not come as a surprise to me though. I've hinted this would happen more than a month ago. ...

hahah Battlefield is now Call of Duty. From the gameplay to the horrific restrictions on servers. Anyone that's played Call of Duty that seen the one server provider service in action knows what is coming with this.

And what is worse, if rentable servers do not have admin bans/kicks, this essentially means EA will be asking people to foot the bill on worthless servers that EA should be paying for themselves. I'm waiting to see what kind of admin control these servers will allow. Until then, EA is not getting a single cent from me.

It will probably be like it is on the consoles. Admins can kick/ban, but no 3rd party admin tools. It's possible that could change in the future.

You may be right, but until EA discloses everything about its server rentals, I am keeping my wallet closed. I have the feeling EA won't release any relevant information until way after release, to capture as much sales as possible. In the event that they release another set of bad news, then BF1 is off my list and will instead support RISING STORM VIETNAM.

If you like the game, i wouldn't let the dedicated server restrictions stop you from enjoying it.

I don't think I can remember a big multiplayer FPS game that didn't allow server information or rentals prior to launch. That alone is worrying.

Without asking each friend individually how would you easily know? I have 88 friends, most who are EGC, many have set there games profile as private, more than 50%, and I see no easy way to check who has what unlike Steam. Of the ones who have made their games visible 3 have it and 2 are EGC. Most never bought BF4 which I will continue to play every weekend until BF1 has favorable reviews by players and has matured. I have no reason to doubt many will be disappointed and the start up will be rocky at best. By all indications EA is doing there very best to ruin the franchise as I would like to see it progress.

I wouldn't go that far to check friends profiles to see who bought it. Just see who's playing it, when you bring origin friends list up.

They always will be. That's how most of the people are, they want it to work, and just push the magic button for it to turn on (speaking of consoles). In other words, done for them.
